how about spending a couple of bucks at home depot for window bars, OR opening your windows from the top instead!

Please open the top part of the window. You get the same air flow.

This is the third incident this week.

Another preventable accident, hope the baby makes a quick recovery. Good job to the EMT's or paramedics at scene, you guys/gals are heroes.

not all windows can be opened from the top.
but, most can be prevented from being opened more than a few inches by putting nails in the frame; or screw a child's safety gate over the front of the window.

wood putty and stain will repair any markings from the screws.

or, tell the landlord you want window guards.

I appreciate the Sun putting these stories in print, but, wonder:

are there any city ordinances requiring rental units to have guards on the windows? are homeowner insurance policies addressing this? why not include a link to retail outlets that sell window guards?

maybe readers haave some of their own suggestions?

Ughh, my heart is breaking, this is the 3rd one in the last week. I know you can't watch your child every possible moment, I have 3 myself. But people, don't put anything near a window that a baby can climb onto. I just don't know when it's going to sink into peoples heads. Get the damn bars for your windows!!!!!!!

I'll bet you'd be the first to yell and bit-h is somebody died from smoke or fire because the fire dept. couldn't rescue them because of bars on the window.
