Is it me, I see more residents that live on my street with out of state tags. There needs to be hotline or something to get these people to pay up? what do you think?

Yea, and how about all those that live and have a driver's license as well as register their car in NH that use MassHealth!! The Commonwealth of Massachusetts feels the more on medicaid the better!! It could simply be verified by cross referencing border states but, alas, it is easier to keep paying for people who cheat and get others (the taxpayers) to pay their bills...

Here in Mass they have an
I Pay Taxes form

http://www.mass.gov/rmv/forms/21760.pdf

Down load it and print a number of them, I keep them in the car, then I fax them in to the RMV.
They get the car taken care of. And it works, in most cases.

The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles has a 15-year-old hot line - 800-IPAYTAX or 800-472-9829 - where tipsters can request a form to lodge a complaint about illegally registered vehicles.

Yeah, teah, yeah...everyone wants to be a hero and turn in these people, but nobody has enough effort to fill out a form. "Waaaaaaaaah!!!! I wanna rat these people out over the phone, but I dont wanna fill out a complaint! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! When you fill out the complaint form, you must legally fill it out in full, and you will be contacted. The accused has the right to face his accuser in a court of law, so watch out, rats. You may end up biting off more cheese than your mouth can handle...LOL

There is an on-line site called platewire for bad drivers. Maybe you can post on that. And if you do anything on-line, you can always go to a library or computer cafe and set up an alias e-mail thru yahoo and email the registry that way.

All false. Total BS. The form is anonymous, there isn't a place for your name and address. The RMV or local police will monitor the vehicle and if they believe it is illegally registered they will be the accuser.

The car must be parked at the same address for 30 consecutive days and monitored each day at the same time, and the info recorded into the dmv computer each evening. If it is not there for 30 days, it cannot be proven it is illegal. They usually do the spot check between midnite and 4 am, so if its gone, say on the 12th nite, they have to start the 30 day process over again. If your car is registered in NH and you are living in Mass, do yourself a favor and park it someplace else at least once a week.

You are a total idiot. You proved that in your last post. People that claim to know anything at all but are only guessing should just be avoided.

On the form above there is no contact info for the person who fills it out, so your Idenity is protected %100.

Why do you AH's want us to pick up the tab for you? Tell me, if someone reached into your wallet and took the money out would you be happy about it?

Is your name really "adios"? How about a real name and address?

So I buy a house here 2 years ago...a few months later 3 cars in my driveway have a $500 ticket each...for avoiding taxes and insurance premiums by registering in NH. I call the cop and explain that I still own a house in NH and have not been here 6 months so maybe I will live in NH 6 months and 1 day and I will have the right to register there. He asked where I get my mail...I told him at that time I got it my lowell house. He said then you live here and your trying to avoid paying taxes on the cars. I told him that all three cars had been registered in NH for more than 2 years so I would not have to pay taxes on them in Mass. He said it was reported to him by a neighbor.....only one that goes by my driveway....so I send in the tickets and wait the 2 months for the hearing...go to the registry and change my insurance 1 week before court (my neighbor thinks i got away with it and is not nice to us for those 2 months) show the registrations and proof of insur. and fines dropped in 1 minute...now I hear if you own property in NH they will let you register there while living here...really pretty much the same price.

home owners in NH pay higher taxes for homes than we pay in Mass. Also cost more every year to register your car in NH. Those two items are very expensive in NH. The only people I can think of that would reister in NH but live in Mass are people who are uninsured. Still against the law to drive your uninsured NH registered car into Mass. I have been registered and insured in both states within the last few years and I promise you I am saving money here in Mass.

You're trying to BS people. It's anonymous. I know neighbors who turned in other neighbors after they got into an argument- hilarious. A few months later they had MA plates on their car.

They're going to start cracking down on this even more, since the state is losing massive $$$ in this recession. There is a big fine if you get caught- then you end up paying more in the end when you have to pay the fine AND re-register your car in MA.
