DRACUT -- Police were working to identify the body of a man found in a parked car just over the Lowell city line on Tuesday evening.

Police were called to 400 Merrill Lane, just off Mammoth Road, at about 7:45 p.m., where they found the body of a white male, according to Deputy Police Chief David Chartrand.

Chartrand said investigators are still trying to identify the man, and would not speculate on an age. He said the cause of death remains under investigation.

Police automatically investigate all unattended deaths.

Spokesman for District Attorney Gerard Leone, who's office typically joins such investigations, did not immediately return calls late Tuesday evening.

The Boston websites are reporting the same amount of information. My guess is that they are waiting to notify family before releasing his name to the public.

I don't think this has anything to do with it being a bad neighborhood. It's quiet and dark, a good place to park and shoot up or something, which is what probably happened to this guy. Could have happened in any quiet side street in any town or neighborhood. I wouldn't think of that area as dangerous.

I agree. Its a good town, unfortunately it is very secluded in the parking lot and not alot of activity at night. I live on merrill to and i didnt even know this happened until someone sent me the article. If my doors and shades are shut I dont hear or see anything. Its very unfortunate

there is nothing wrong with that complex. It is not dangerous by any means.
So what you are saying "merrill lane" is that if someone died or was killed near your purchased home, you would immediately put your house up for sale the minute it happened? Think about what you are saying.
It is a very quiet area surrounded by woods and so isn't university heights. However some of the people in that complex are ridiculous which is why I bought a house and moved out, not because someone died.

I found much more distress to be found from the Management company of Merrill Lane, than the mortality rate!!

Maybe he died from a drug overdose or a heart attack. The Lowell Sun didn't sound to excited over the found body.

You don't need to be HORRIFIED. It wasn't a driv-by shooting or anything like that. This person they found dead wasn't after you and your family.
