Poor performance by students, questionable business practices, and lack of quality personnel have doomed this great experiment called Charter Schools. Public schools are criticized but they are forced to accept and keep all students, regardless of problems ranging from non-cooperating parents, lack of motivation, lack of funding and a host of other problems while charter schools usually can pick their students, demand parent participation, and and send problem kids back to the public schools. We had the same type of schools for years, called parochial schools.

If you would take the time to research what you are talking about you would realize that this school does not "hand pick" their students, and doesn't ship off problem children back into the public schools. They handle the problems that arise. Besides, if you think that ALL parents at the Charter are cooperating, you are sadly mistaken!

Can you say "scapegoat"? The board of the charter school apparently has emerged from its years-long coma, and needs to blame someone, anyone but themselves, for the current sorry state of affairs at the school. They didn't say it was his fault, they said they were going to blame him.

Isn't the blame game disgaceful.I am so sick and tired of every time something goes wrong people would rather blame, point fingers, and file lawsuits, instead of figuring out what is wrong and fixing it.

Concerned Citizen

Hmmm...you should be ashamed of yourself for talking without knowing the facts. Relatives? Who? Oh, I get it...all Hispanics are related just because they look alike and they speak Spanish or can you prove what you said?

Are all Jamaicans, Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, Cambodians, etc related?

Husband consulting and bleeding the school? How do you know that? That is not correct.

It is apparent that you are an angry person with an ax to grind with the HR Director.

May you sleep in peace at night.

Hey, A concern citizen how is teaching in Lawrence going after the LCCPS?

We are glad you are not among our faculty any longer. We do not miss you and your priviledged relationship in detriment to the rest of all us committed teachers at the school.

Here we stand together with stones enough to build
A bridge into forever beyond the highest hill
The past will fade behind us if we let the future shine
Not a thing can come between us if we always keep in mind, that
Walls can fall, storms can end.
Evil will fall sooner or later.

Interesting!!!! You're wrong!!! The Board didn't awake from a comma. The fact is that LCCPS now has a Board that is not going to play these games you have been playing at LCCPS for a long time. For many years there has been rumors at that school about embezzlement and apparently now that the Dictatorial Regime of Rida Eng has come to an end people are coming forward and finally are speaking out. I encourage ANYONE who has information about these CLOWNS who brought this school down to come forward because it is a matter of Ethics.

YOu sound like someone from that school that is probably nervous about these investigations. Whatever issues you have at that school I am so glad they are finally coming to light. I have friends that work at that school and for some reason that name Rida Eng has come up so many times in our conversations that I'm not surprised he's fired. And by the way is there a way to prove that he is really a survivor of the Killing Fields? This posts should be about facts and the fact of the matter is that someone or perhaps some people are being investigated. I hope the MA Attorney General cleans that place and get rid of all those rats that has been living off American taxpayers money for 10 years. Kudos to that agency that took over for having the guts to what was supposed to be done a long time ago.

Apparently the HR Director has nothing better to do than to monitor and place posts on the Lowell Sun. What a great use of taxpayer money. Wonder how this person is sleeping at night?

Who's the guilty culprit that called the Sun to have 'a concern citizen's post removed? I get a sense that someone is feeling Guilty and don't want to be exposed?

I am not sure of the details but Mr. Eng has been nothing but professional, helpful throughout our 7 years at the school. I have been an active parent for 7 years in the school and do not have 1 negative comment against anyone at the Charter School. We will never know the whole story. Mr. Eng is a very humble gentleman.

I am glad you had a great experience with Mr. Eng, unlike others. No one is saying that he is a mean person, and no one wishes him wrong either. However; there is a reason why Commissioner Chester wanted him out. And just to give you a piece of mind, the whole truth will come out. This whole thing sounds very serious and the children and teachers at that school deserves better. They don't want to be in the Lowell Sun month after month because of negativity.

This is a very strange post. First of all, how do you know someone called the Lowell Sun to have a post removed. What you are suggesting is that Lowell Sun employees are giving you inside information. That is very dangerous. I'm gonna call the Lowell Sun right now and I'm going to have them take a look at what you said. That is a very serious accusation and you can be traced. Are you nervous now? You should be..

The board is the same one that let the school slide slowly (or not so slowly) into the toilet. The only thing that changed was the fact that there was a new sheriff in town at the DESE who wanted to close the school, and believe me, he still wants to. The two year charter extension is not a vote of confidence that this board can turn things around after neglecting them for years. It was to give the City School Department 2 years to plan for the closure, because next fall would have been chaos otherwise. The too big to fail school is being cut down to a size where it can fail. The blame game is starting because it is finally dawning on the board that the end is coming and they can't stop it. There's going to be a lot of angry parents, especially when their kids hit the public school and discover that despite the glowing report cards they got from the Charter school, their kids are not performing at grade level. No one wants to take responsibility for that, so the shoot out in the lifeboat should be quite interesting.

Not sure who you think I am with the "games you have been playing" crack. I am not and never have been employed by the charter school or any school, for that matter, never served on its board, never consulted for them, and to tell the truth, when my kid was old enough to enroll in school, I did not have enough confidence in the charter school to put him there. That's one decision I do not regret now.

Hey Amused my comments were not addressed personally to you but to all the people at LCCPS that have been playing dirty games. What I meant to them was that the party is over and that I am so happy we are finally seeing accountability even if the fate of the school has been decided as you claim. No harsh feelings.

HA!!! You're kidding, right?? You may not hand pick the kids, but you sure do get rid of the ones you don't want. Discipline problem? Yup, got a few of those this year. SpEd with IEP? Yup, got a few of those too. Not to mention that almost all of the kids that you discard back to the LPS are way behind their peers academically.
