To young boy, officer a hero

Full story: Lowell Sun 69
It was a June day, moments before roughly 700 people set out on a motorcycle ride meant to raise money to fight neurofibromatosis, a condition that afflicts 8-year-old Dylan Thompson. Full Story

This is so, so upsetting-- but so touching that the Thompson family will now return the kindness to the Johnson family.

How horrible and unnecessary.

Have nothing better to do than to post totally stupid comments on every story online? I see your comments on everything and you never have anything nice or relevant to say. Do us a favor and get another hobby... being an a%%hole does not count for one.

It makes me even more sad to read all the negative stuff people are writing about this tragic story. I couldn't believe the commments in the other story...just awful. No one has respect these days. I hope that people will leave it alone and let this family mourn in peace like they deserve. This man was a true hero and if some can't see that then I am sorry for them.

There's only so many times you can turn on the TV and see them rehashing this over and over. Same in the newspaper. The worst thing? if there is an even worse tragedy, this story will be dropped like a hot potato. There will be a continued outpouring of support, a big blue funeral and all the trappings. That is due. But this isn't any more tragic than the firefighter a few years ago (Kelly something?) who had a heart attack and died at a firehouse. Keep it in perspective, otherwise you just want to never get out of bed ever again.

Dear Mr. Taxpayer

Judging from your posts it's easy to see what kind of man you are and what type of man you will never be.

You hide behind your anonymous posts and insult those who provide and portect your right to do so, which makes you even more heinous and dispicable.

If you ever gather enough fortitude to stand up and make yourself known, like a true man, who is willing to dedicate himself to true and worthy ideals please let me be the first person to greet you.

It is clear that you, like so many others in our world today, thrive in casting shadows by disseminating such vile swill in times of tragedy, regardless of the cost, neither have ever stood up in the face of true evil nor have you ever looked into a mirror and measured yourself as a man.

You are a coward and always will be.

PJ Johnson was a police officer every day and every moment of his life. He did things that you only dream about being able to do. True decent and intelligent people recognize this and will grieve accordingly regardless at your attempts at self promotion.

I would want to know what the report is on the OFF duty cop.. I hope this is investigated by the HIGH COMMAND and the City. Remember this Officer was OFF DUTY-Was he drinking? For him to fly off his bike and go 60/70 ft into another yard---HOW FAST WAS THIS GUY GOING? As a taxpayer in the City--Remember this is not a POLICE FUNERAL-he was off duty.
You are an A$$. This guy is and was a great role model. So is Moriarty, both good guys. Why would you take the time to put such an awful message? My heart goes out to all concerned.
oh dear how thoughtless you are to say these things. what an ass!

If it were the other way around the guy riding the bike would have been drunk. I'm willing to bet both were drinking that night. There is a double standard when it comes to cops.

Pj you were a great Father, husband , police officer and friend. Everybody gets praised when they pass, but you really were a great man. There isn't anyone you have ever crossed that would have anything less than great things to say about you. If the world had more people like you PJ it would be a better place to live. You will be missed by so many and God took you way to soon but now your wife and 2 beautiful kids have an angel looking over then at all times. RIP PJ.

To the "Taxpayer of Lowell" who wrote Remember this is not a POLICE FUNERAL-he was off duty:
Did you forget that this Officer served YOUR city for many years and also served YOUR country. I can't believe that some people can be so ignorant. You should be ashamed of yourself!
I did not know Officer Johnson personally, but I have heard my good things about him.
My heart goes out to the entire Johnson family.

what makes you assume Chan was drunk? The fact he wasn't a cop? I know lots of people who have families and drive drunk.
