And yet after BP has caused this catastrophic event that will go down in history, they have the nerve to buy out Getty and open up new gas stataions!!!
Really, who is going to purchase gas from them?

Isn't methane and CO2 and water vapor all greenhouse gases...the latter being the most prevalent...
Just an observation.

Methane is also a major constituent of flatus...which we've also been getting a lot of from BP management.

PLease remember that this "chemical" spill is all natural. I am just concerned about what the current administration is doing behind our backs while this story is taking up so much ink. Have you heard about BHO being given the power to shut down the internet during a crissis?

Ricin is also "all natural" and one of the most deadly chemicals known. Ridiculous contention.

someone is willing to handle the clean-up with equipment and technology not available in the U.S., and finishes the job in shorter time than the current estimate, the U.S. should jump on the offer.

But it turned out to be quite the opposite..

According to Foreign Policy, thirteen entities had offered the U.S. oil spill assistance within about two weeks of the Horizon rig explosion. They were the governments of Canada, Croatia, France, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Republic of Korea, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United Nations.

The U.S. response - Thank you, but no thank you, we've got it.

"..While there is no need right now that the U.S. cannot meet, the U.S. Coast Guard is assessing these offers of assistance to see if there will be something which we will need in the near future."

Blame It On The Jones Act?
Jones Act, deals with coastal shipping; and requires that all goods transported by water between U.S. ports be carried in U.S.-flag ships, constructed in the United States, owned by U.S. citizens, and crewed by U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents.

The purpose of the law is to support the U.S. merchant marine industry.

These unions got Obama elected and they didn't want help they wanted the work all for themselves over months, months, and months. Obama would rather the ocean and our country be destroyed versus temporarily suspending the Jones act in order to save the ocean, he has since started changing his mind, how much destruction and devastation did that over extended thought process cost this world.

A private corporation causes a catastrophe and all you can do is try to pin blame on Obama because he is from the "other" party. You political wackos are insane. You'll take any opportunity for political advantage while destroying your country. You hate America while running around with it's flag!

It's true. All the Republicans are interested in is defeating Democrats. They do not care about solving problems, or telling the truth, or making life in America better for ordinary people. They will say and do anything that defeats Democrats. That's why they call Obama a Socialist, even though he's as completely owned by Big Business as any Republican. The guy is about as liberal as Reagan was. He's more conservative than Nixon, for Pete's sake.

Methane? You mean that the Earth is actually expelling a "Natural" gas? Gee, there's a suprise! I wonder whose paying for that study? Probably the same jokers that paid for the study that said that cow farts significantly contribute to Global Warming. Sounds like they're just looking for more reasons to cause more outrage toward an already outrageous situation...

...or are they looking for more reasons to make someone pay more taxes????

http://edition.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/asiapcf/aus...

Either way, they're full of hot air. After all, Human flatulence also contains methane. So, should we all be charged a "Flatulence Tax?" Where's the outrage there? Why isn't Al Gore making a documentary on this? Why is the Government passing up this opportunity to make us pay more taxes? This is an outrage!

Sigh...politics thrown on top of a mounting problem yet again...the problem isn't that it's 'natural' gas. The problem is the fact that it is dissolved in ocean water. Fish and other sea animals extract dissolved oxygen from seawater to 'breathe'. They can suffer 'asphyxia' just like land animals do when the dissolved oxygen in the water is depleted, displaced by another gas, or when another gas is present in high enough concentration to dilute the oxygen content to a lethal level.

Most of my post was just a joke. However, are you aware that Ocean Methane has been around for millions of years? Somehow, someone wants to make an already bad situation look worst so they throw in something that occurs naturally and paint it to looklike it's catastrophic. Saying that oil contains methane is like saying that heat melts ice. They're both something that's been happening for millions of years and trying to add that to the already outrageous story about the oil serves only one purpose and that's to push someone's agenda. Much like Al Gore used the fact that Glaciers are melting (which has been going on for millions of years) to push his agenda. I just wonder whose going to make teh millions off of this and whose going to get the Nobel Prize for it?

What a crock of BS!

Nitrogen has been around for millions of years too. Nitrogen is inert and present in air making up about 78% by volume. But if nitrogen increases to dilute the O2 content of air to roughly 17% from its current 21%, then a human exposed to this 'air' is dead, pure and simple. I'm exposed to my wife's 'natural' gas pretty frequently, and i can gurantee you it's only by the grace of God that I'm still alive today !
