I remember the Mahoney murders. They lived in Tewksbury on Whipple Road. Some guys (bikers?) broke in to steal guns. My ex-wife was friends with one of the daughters. I remember reading about it in the Sun. I was in high school at the time. 1974 or 1975?
It happened New Years Eve of 1978. The daughter wasn't home when they were murdered. they said the killers wre still in the house when she arrived home and discovered them. She ran out of the house.

My Grandmother was watching me, she lived on Smith Street across from where "Mr.Harry Bass" lived.
I grew up on Kimball Ave. Limby's Drug store was on the corner of Branch and Smith Streets. My family and I were eating dinner when we heard the shots being fired. A friend of mine was in Limby's while the robbery was going on. Officer Christos Rouses was gunned down in that robbery. I heard that the driver of the get away car got out of jail not to long ago. What about the others, anyone know. I heard that they were chased to where the Wang Towers were being built. And the police shot up the car. I fagly remember I was young then. But I do remember that changed my mind to be a police officer.

I remember back in '99 when Tabitha Potter was raped, strangled, and killed at Shedd Park. The news sent a shockwave across the city and people feared to go to Shedd Park because the killer was still on the loose. They later found James Howley the killer through DNA evidence. He was found dead hanging from a tree behind the Old Hubbard Factory.
It was such a tragic death. My little brother went to school with her.
My Family and I moved into her house like 2-3 days after she went missing! It was a two family house and she lived with her grandmother (our landlady) upstairs. The news was at our house all the time! I was only 12 at the time so it really freaked me out when they found her body a few days later almost accross the street from where we lived! I tried talking to her brother once or twice... but they never spoke about it. It was really say though. We only lived there for a year.

Wasnt there a semi-pro football player beaten to death in lowell back around 2005? i forget the whole story but i think it was a black kid who was beaten by a pair of twins. i always wondered what happened to the twins. Anyone remember the details on this and what happened to them? this was probably one of the most brutal murders i can remember happening in lowell in recent history.

They were the Mcguane twins from Ayer. The beat a kid to death on the 4th in 2005 in Ayer, not Lowell. I had one of them on my block while he awaited trial. His brother was shipped to a different facility. They both received 5 years in addition to the 2 years they served before the trial. I heard they were both in Walpole but could have moved around to different facilities by now.

George Edgerly. He killed his wife and decapitated her. Took off her head and hands, and I don't recall if they were ever found.
He worked at Al Luneau Chevrolet on Rogers St., towards the Tewksbury line. Teddy Kemos was a salesman and later became general manager, I believe.
her torso was found in beaver brook but they never did fine her head or hands. It was big news in Dracut too. And he got away with it. what a shame
