Full story: Lowell Sun 34
On a 4-1 vote, the Planning Board has ended a nearly three-year, sometimes contentious saga by giving its approval to the proposed Cornerstone Square "lifestyle center." The board this week signed a development agreement with Westford LC, LLC, that will enable the construction of 238,000 square feet of an upscale mix of retail, personal services, ... Full Story

Please -- no sidewalks!!! We don't need sidewalks. We need more turning lanes at Minot's corner! What mitigation will be in place during construction? It's a mess there now!

Side walks are needed so that the Affordable housing complex residents will be able to walk to the upscale businesses.

I do feel that this is a mistake.

Oh dear lord.! What is happening to the "Gateway of Westford " ? Is it turning into South Nashua? or the Middlesex turnpike in Burlington? The Gateway to rural Westford? LOL

This is a good use of the land. It was already zoned commercial. Much better than a car dealership. But I don't know if they can stop that.

I agree with Tough guy, but the only positive to this whole project is more jobs. And hopefully adding another fire station would be nice too, I have been waiting to get on. Ex-FF and current EMT. Too many politics in this damn town to begin with.

A shopping mall in Westford!! How could it be? I guess with a fancy name it is acceptable to the integrity of Westford.

That intersection is going to be a traffic nightmare. Bad decision, Planning Brd.

I wonder if this project was planned before Devil's 6 1/2% sales tax. Why wouldn't anyone in their right mind drive the 20 mins to Nashua to save?

6/24- 495 N accident tied up Rte 110 from Littleton thru Chelmsford for 5 hours. If "mall" opens with additional 10,000 cars per day Minot"s Corner will be in perpetual gridlock - not to mention the necessary work/delays to get these roads ready for this project. Robert Walker has had plenty of unpleasant complications in surrrounding towns. Westford does not need this!!!

I believe 2oo signatures on a petition could force a special town meeting and a vote. While your at it lets get that stupid farmers market moved to a better place than the Town common..that makes a bad traffic situation worse. I know its cute and clever to walk to the farmers market in a long flowing peasant dress while toting about you fresh produce in a hand weaved basket while wearing mouth hewn sandles but it should be in a better location.

At a time when upscale malls are failing, there is still money to made borrowing and building them. Struggling Solomon Pond is only 15 minutes away. I would not put one dime into a Mall as an investment.

This is a commercial zoned space. What would you like to see there? Someone invested in the land and they are going to get a return on the investment. This seems like a nice development. The imposed limitations seem to guide it in the right direction. We don't need more banks, pharmacies, pizza joints, fast food or Dunkin's.I don't think we can even stop the car dealership.

Why would you want to stop the dealership?

I was opposed to Wal mart also. I'm not in favor of all growth. I am not excited about the Kimball's expansion because of the parking and street crossing that is done. It doesn't seem to me to be an attractive area for a dealership. How often will locals go there? I think there are better places for that kind of occupancy. But I doubt if it does get stopped.

I'm not too happy about this. 110 is a mess between 4-6pm when the local company workers leave for the evening. Adding this to the mix just makes it worse. The town does not need a mall!

Westford is rapidly losing its character.

Looking at the existing "For Lease" vacancies that have existed for the past 2 years within Marketplace Square (Market Basket) and across the street (which have not been rented btw...) does it make sense to add more commercial space? I mean, I'm all for intelligent planned development to bring in taxes and improve the quality of life in Westford, but when Mr. Walker pushes the Planning Board relentlessly until they say Uncle, I think it deserves the town residents to stand up and voice our opinions with a petition and a vote. Maintaining the towns unique character with a 'lifestyle mall" so we can live with its mess for years to come is not what I moved here for.

you know guys I am four generations westford , so sick of all you mouths that blew in and now want to stop every thing - had we been smart we would have kept YOU out - the gate way has been gone for 20+ years - if you want 110 open space pool your dollars and buy it - other wise get the best deal you can for the town . OR go back where you came from

To clarify: I, "Townie", am a long time resident of Westford, not Maynard, which somehow mistakenly was posted when I wrote my opinion above. I'm not against development, but just don't create a mess that we have to live with (traffic) for years to come so this guy can laugh all the way to his "out of town" bank account. So, I have not just "blown in".
