That's just about the dumbest argument I have ever read. Wtf does having a man have to do with the equal rights of a dog?? So, if people were racist and afraid of blacks, Hispanics or Arabic people, should the city make them wear straight jackets in public?? Or should the police stop them everywhere they go to make sure they have a clean record? Why do YOU hate pitbulls? You seem pretty ignorant. Ankle biters suck but since you're advocating for them, I bet you own one. Which in turn makes me think you probably suck, too.

Hey Heidi,
I'll judge your pit all I want. My kids don't end up on the news for mauling people to death. My parenting style did not maul people either, a pitbull did. Simple thing. Muzzle it, or leave it at home. Not all pits are bad, but the public does not care anymore, and that means people with GOOD pits get lumped in with the ad ones. If you don't like it, but a yorkie or a pom.
Dogs are ANIMALS which means ALL BREEDS are capable of destructive and harmful behavior. Muzzle your Yorkie or Pom, too. Those little dogs attack much more frequently than larger breeds but their ignorant owners look past it because there was no real damage. Like, honestly, get a damn grip on reality!!

I have a perfect grip on reality Stacie. Yorkies and Poms do not do the damage that pits do, period. End of story. If they did, I would have mine muzzled. Fact is, the public no longer cares that your Pit is a great Pit. They don't. They are a bully breed. And, because of irresponsible owners, the public is starting to turn against Pit owners. No one wants to listen to Pit owners come out and talk about how great the breed is, while on the heels of a story about an attack.

Not to mention, comparing Yorkies and Poms to Pitbulls, in regards to attacks and damage is completely ignorant. Most owners of toy breeds do not let them off leash or out of sight BECAUSE OF idiot Pit owners, so your comparison is invalid. Not to mention, criticizing irresponsible pit owners makes me have less of a grip on reality? Really, if that is the best you can do, then please unplug your computer and never come onto Topix again. Even for Topix, that was lame.

The pitbull hysteria is the topic of the moment, and increased hype by the media makes "pitbull attacks" seem more and more prevalent by the day.
Some parents claim they'd never let their kids around a pitbull, call pitbull owners irresponsible, want pitbulls killed, etc. The hate grows every time a debate fires up.

The truth is, your kid is more likely to drown in a pool than get bitten or mauled by any dog (including pitbulls). But you don't see pools being banned. If you have a pitbull and a pool in your neighborhood, you should be more worried about the pool as a parent.

The truth is, yes there are bad dogs out there. But having a pitbull and being a responsible owner is far less risky than having lots of other things in the home and yard that most of you people probably have.

Thing is, I agree with this statement. Not all pitbulls are bad. However, my point was merely that the bad ones (and idiot owners) are what the public is seeing, and they are beginning to not give a shit about the good ones. More over, people are also getting tired of reading articles on pitbull attacks, and seeing the forums flooded with comments about how sweet their Pit is, and how wrong the public is to be concerned or, more appropriately, intolerant and judgmental.

You're right, in that there are a great number of dangers out there that are more frequently encountered than a pitbull. However, not when we are talking about a pitbull attack.
