NO Change, It would not surprise me, politics as usual in the City of Hobbs. I was hoping we might have two city commissioners who would do the right thing. But time will tell

pay him to leave if you have to. Just get him out. Let him go to another agency and cause the same damage that he did here. After all, that is how we got him.

It seems to be easy to place the blame on the union or even on an ex-chief. It seems to me someone is trying to move the focus from himself to others. Sanders is not very good at his job. Change the things you can change. Help the people that you can help. The top people at the department are just out for themselves, no one cares about the little guy, who by the way is out there working and doing the job they are paid to do, without any training it appears. Lawsuits like the one that took money away from the training budget helped no one but the person that filed it. Greedy people at high levels hurt more than they help the department. Of the four in top positions 2 have filed lawsuits and taken money away that could have help everyone instead of just themselves. These lawsuits were just a matter of pride nothing really to them at all. They got their feeling hurt. All that training lost, so someone could have a title and a few dollars more. A title that came with no changes in job duties. Just so she could say she is someone. These people lose more than they gain in the long run, especially the respect of the people that work for them. I have no answers all I can tell you is it's a rough job and instead of placing the blame on the union who is the street level cop and the detention officers voice, listen to their needs and help them. If the detention officers were indeed left out of the recent contract, the city should be the first to step in and fix the mistake. These are the people who are doing a excellent job and need the support of the union and non-union employees and especially the chief and all his top people. Help the people don't hurt them, just because you don't like the union.
Bohn is gone leave him alone, he supported the workers and spoke up for everyone. You may not have liked him, but he did try to improve the department. He brought more to the department than any of the other chiefs in the last few years. He made every employee feel like they could talk to him. He went into dispatch and records and even to the jail and talk to the employees. When is the last time you seen Sanders in records???? And the only time he's in the jail is to remove someone he doesn't think belong there. Commissioner Mackey, Officer Kemp. I guess the jail just isn't for everyone. So much for equal treatment under the law.
I worked for Bohn and he was as evil as they come!

Hey Donnie, how are you doing? Itís either you or one of your clones because you are the only Hobbs copper that used the term copper; and then you didnít have a clue what a copper was until you heard me use the term. The other thing that gave you away is your small-minded uneducated response here Ė Iíve heard better attempts to insult someone come out of pre-school children. Were those comments really supposed to hurt or insult anybody? If it makes you feel better and makes you feel like the big man in town, Iíll lie and tell you that you hurt my feelings. Now why donít you get a real life, and try becoming a man and a real copper. I realize that it would be a monumental climb for someone who couldnít make a pimple on a real copperís behind to try to become a real cop, but it could be a good goal for you; and if you reach that goal, you could even try to become a true leader, and become a coppersí cop.
Incompetent, lazy, dirty, crooked cops like you and the primadonnas who lick your boots (oh, I almost forgot Ė you show up for critical police work in shorts and shower shoes) that think you are above the law and anybodyís rules, didnít and donít want me or anybody else that will hold you accountable to be part of an honest team, and do your job to SERVE THE PEOPLE OF HOBBS. Youíll continue to lick Chief Sandersí boots while you are working your dirty underhanded behind the scenes stunts to help push him out the door and out of town; and once he is gone youíll be brave enough to say you didnít want him because he was arrogant, boneheaded, not worthy, and who knows what else will come out of your cowardly pee-brain. Then if you havenít been able to trick or dig up enough dirt on the powers to be to make you Chief (heaven help Hobbs if that happens), youíll lick the boots of the next Chief while he or she is there while working your dirt on him or her. So keep talking big little man who couldnít make a pimple on a real copperís behind.
Crawl back under my rock and leave you alone??? I donít think so, Iím your ghost from the past; and you I and both know that if the United States Department of Justice ever conducts a thorough, honest investigation into the workings of the Hobbs Police Department, some people wearing or who have worn the Hobbs Police Department Badge are going to go to jail, and some people who have been jailed will end up set free. A lot of people of Hobbs felt and feel differently than you; and every time I return to Hobbs to visit friends, many of those people share their disgust with what you have done to the police department again. Oh, maybe you are still under your rock, and you didnít realize that you didnít run me out of town like you did the others; Iíve been back several times, and will continue to be back because I have many friends in the area.
And you and I both know what your so called CAT Team is doing; and we both know that it is not honest, real police work that is in the best interest of the citizens of Hobbs, America. Call them what you may, but a leopardís spots never change. The Hobbs Police Department has had special street crimes units by various names in the past, and they have never been successful; and in fact caused reduced efficiency and effectiveness of the police department. The units in effect caused the creation of three separate police departments within the police department, all being not as effective because of the environment these special units created.
The vast majority of the Hobbs Police Department employees are excellent outstanding people, employees, and professionals who go above and beyond in trying to serve the people of Hobbs. It is just too bad their efforts and dedication are held back by the incompetent few.
YOU HAD/HAVE FRIENDS HERE???? OMG!!! YOU ARE AS CROOKED AS THE WITCH'S NOSE AND MOST OF US HAVE NO USE FOR YOU. PLEASE DON'T "GRACE" OUR TOWN WITH YOUR VISITS...YOU ARE EVIDENTLY VERY BITTER ABOUT BEING FIRED FROM HPD.

Chill out Hobbsman, it's evident that CPD has experienced first hand what JD can do. JD is a genuine AKC registered JERK. He could care less about who he hurts or what it takes to get things his way. The sooner the people of Hobbs deal with him the better off they will be. Hanging In There, you are right when you say you would not put anything past him. He is a egotistical, self centered, devious person who will do what ever it takes to get his way. By the way, has he joined the "Country Club" yet? If not just wait he will. Probably takes every Friday off to play golf, or a litle "poker" if he can get away with it. And CPD is correct when he says JD has been known to drink and drive. A police vehicle no less. He's a piece of work alright.
Well, Looks like he was right. You win....we lose and will continue to lose.

I agree Help Please. I am a casual friend of the chief. I have played golf with him on some Fridays and every once in a while, on a weekend. I have personally seen him leave in the middle of a round on Saturday and Sunday to go do police business. What you may not know is he has a daughter who is disabled. Everytime you see him, she is with him. She doesn't get to do very much so he takes her with him to play golf. She is loved by everyone who plays there. I have never seen the chief drink anything stronger than tea unless you count an orange Powerade as stronger. I also know him to be very concerned for others and spends lots of his time helping people with things that he doesn't have to. It sounds to me that either the poster doesn't know him very well, has gotten bad information, or is just plain lying. My money is one the last one. There has been problems with some in the union long before JD came to Hobbs and will long after he is gone.

I also have a close friend who is a police officer. I hear a much different story from him. He has told me there are a few individualts in the police department who spend the majority of their time finding things to complain about. He also said there are those in the past who have used the union for their own personal benefit and never worried about anyone but themselves. He was very complimentary of JD and said most feel the same way. There was more than one story about how he went to the wall for officers who had problems and fought for their jobs.

I think there has been quite enough BS on here.

Okay, JD has started with his glorified CAT team in which never was able to work dope. Now, about a year ago JD started a new thing with his resource officers by taking most of the senior officers off the street. Several senior officers have left the department and he is talking about starting up a "new team"! Really? Doesn't our citizens and political people see what he is doing with out department in this town. He is ruining our department and NO one wants to work for him! When is enough enough? He only starts up new teams to make himself look good. State police had to come to Hobbs to work traffic because Hobbs is so short handed. And, JD took the back seat trying to complain about traffic control! Get out of our town and get a REAL chief to take over! One that can earn respect not use teams or media to get respect by manipulation!!!
I must say that you need to attend the City Commission meetings and complain. I do agree that the HPD is not really a fair establishment and they sure have forgotten "To Protect and Serve" motto that used to appear on the police cars. Also I don't want the old Skin head regime back in control! What I would like to see is them do more of their job like writting tickets for illegal parking, littering, no turn signals, calling in other City Employees to do their jobs and by the way why do we still have Johnny Cash working at the City with so many restraining orders? He harrasesses everyone in my estimation

The police in this town are pretty corrupt. They have no morals. The majority of them are screwing their co-workers and cheating on their spouses. I happen to know for a fact that Sergeant Travis Jackson is screwing one of the dispatchers Chrisy Walker who were both divorced just this year, they were sleeping around for who knows how long before that. I know several other cops that sleep around on their wives with co-workers. You'd think the department would be more concerned about this since their officers are too busy getting laid to get any work done.

Thanks Hobbs for letting JD Sanders bring his travelling circus to Texas. He took over Memorial Villages police and then set about ruining what had been to this point one of the best police departments in the state. He immediately said that seniority was meaningless. Now MVPD has many 10 to 30 year veterans. These vets were then sent to 12 hour night shift for no reason. No consideration was given to officer's families or personal lives. New officers with less than a year were given choice day shift positions. When the vetreran officers complained everyone was given a letter from JD telling them how unprofessional they were and that HE was the solution to the departments problems..problems he caused by the way. He claims the department has strong communty support and he is right, but he forgets that the very officers he demonizes are the ones who EARNED that support through years of service to the department and community.

I feel your pain brother, for years he made my life a living hell. He doesn't want anyone close to the top that can keep an eye on him or challenge his position. He surrounds himself with rookies. Damage to the department will take years to fix once he is gone.

JD Sanders has reached his goal of destroying and dismantling the Memorial Villages Police Department. He has managed to get about a dozen experienced professional officer's to either take an early, unwanted retirement, or has forced them to take lower paying jobs with other police departments just to escape the chaos and insanity he has brought to MVPD. Insane shifts, a totally useles frustrating RMS system, hiring inexperinced officers, hiring brithers and sisters, husbands and wives. His unprofessional handling of high profile cases..releasing FULL unedited offense reports to the press, buying special meals for "rich" prisoners...I could go on, but why bother. He seems to have snowed the police commssion into believing his lies and BS. I doubt he was given a pysch test before being hired because he seems to meet the profile of a corporate psycopath to the letter.

yes, I left...... Much earlier than I had planned to, but everything stated above is correct!! When17 officers out of a 34 officer department leave within a two year period, 18 months of that under the current chief, there is a problem!! Sadly the BIGEST problem isn't the chief, but the commissioners pulling his strings!!! THEY wanted the turnover, he just gave it to them!! The mess left behind is mostly his doing!! Is there any other department in the state that can't run license plates and drivers licenses on the MDT's? Oh yes one other who has the RMS Hobbs didn't get!! I wonder if MVPD will ever get DPS approval to have in car access to their computer database? I wonder if MVPD will ever be the respected police department it once was??????? I doubt it with the current powers that be in control!!

Disgruntled and I left....you are not missed. The lies you have posted here is one good example of why you are not missed. You are gone now and no one cares. So why not just act like a grown up, quit sucking your thumb, and just be glad you are gone since you hated it so bad. Maybe now you will be free to watch movies all day like you did on the job at MVPD. Or maybe you can take time to glance in the mirror and realize YOU are the reason YOU are gone. The only thing I have seen the chief ask everyone to do is their job. Every replacement officer has been a huge upgrade. So just go away. It is your attitude that has you in the position you put yourself in. Blame everyone in the world but the one responsible. Look no further than yourself. Now please just go away.
