What they don't tell you in the article is that they (the lottery claim center) take out the taxes immediately....$9,300.00 on $30,000.00, Then at the end of the year you must report the full amount ($30,000.00) as income. I'll be needing help with my taxes this year!

So, immigrant, you thought it was all free money? We regular taxpayers realize lottery winnings are subject to taxes. It's just the border-jumpers and the ignorant who think it's a wad of cash handed over in a grocery bag.
Please do not play any New Mexico Lottery games. We would not you to be supremely disappointed when your big win results in your paying taxes. You will be so confused and still dumb as a shovel...but you're a winner!(You can retire from Allsup's and buy all new tires for the roof of the "modular home". And maybe you can get one of those license plate thingy that neons up...so your "modular home" registration plate will be visbile in your window closest to the street?
Thanks for all your insights, hun. Hope I've given you a brow-wrinkling hour of thinking!

Your right, I should not complain. It came at a good time, and helped pay off some bills. I don't know what posesses people to come on here and attack others, and I chose not to respond to their comment.
