Animal rescue rails against pit bull euthanasia
“The injunction asks that we don't euthanize based on breed. That activity has not happened since July, when we revised our rescue and transfer policy to allow for the rescue of all dogs unless they pose a safety or health risk to the public”

i can't seem to find accurate info about michigan's policy on euthanasia on american pitbull terriers. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it. I was under the assumption that pitbulls were not released for adoption because of the dog fighting trends. If that is accurate i believe that something should be done about killing innocent animals based on their breeds and the mistakes of their owners.

I agree with you synquiss. I've been searching for the laws too and can't find a definite answer either. I was shocked when watching Animal Planet the investigators broke up a dog fighting house and took the pitbulls out to be euthanized. What was even more shocking was the fact that one of the dogs was licking their hands, and wagging his tail. It broke me down in a significant way which has now driven me to go to school to learn about animal behavior and help the pitbulls. I have come to realize that animals, like people, have mental disorders like PTSD because of what they've been through and after watching several documentaries I know that any angry animal can be healed when loved over a period of time.

The ony thing worse than a pit-bull is a pit-bull owners attitude. Many of the owners seem to be part of the drug culture. We need to get the breed out of existence. I am so sick of hearng about "what a sweet dog it is" after a pitbull kills some child. Two small girls in my family, one in California and one in Virginia have been terribly mauled by these "sweet" dogs. The little 7-year old in California was simply walking down the sidewalk near her home when a pair of pitbulls came over a fence and mauled her. The pit-bull is hardwired for aggressive behaviour and is unpredictable. I think the average pit-bull supporter/lobbyist/activist is just a rebel in search of a cause. What a waste of time when they could focus their efforts on so many more meaningful causes.
