Grew up in Lovelock, "hell hole" does not begin to do it justice.

I was in Lovelock on election day in '96. I went to the county recorder's office to look up some info on people who used to live in Lovelock and Imlay, where they moved to and all. They were known to the woman working in the Lovelock office; I got the info and left, tried to make a phone call from the old glass booth payphone nearby. Somehow the town folk found out what I was doing (the family apparently caused a lot of ruckus in the desert), and I noticed about ten or fifteen of the locals standing silently outside the phone booth, just standing there staring at me. I ignored them at first, none of them acted like they were waiting to use the phone, they just knew what I was doing, just stood there and stared at me.

All of a sudden I realized this was right out of a Stephen King story! They were desert zombies or voodoo desert monkeys and they were going to attack the phone booth and eat it or something and I had to get out of there right then! I slammed the phone down and pushed the door open and ran to my car and took off! I looked back and there they were, like Night of the Living Dead people, just standing or starting to wander around aimlessly as I (a living person, not a desert creature) had gotten away with my info! I knew what they were doing in the desert zombie land, and I knew how they got their governor elected! I still know, too, and no one knows who I am or where I live!

It's all true, too! It was real bad.

NV sucks and especially the teachers! Theres a mrs. nelson there who is the biggest cheat and lie there is.

All of you are quite wrong about this quaint little town. I lived there from 1998 to 2004 and worked at the State Prison there. My wife and I owned a home and really enjoyed the small town living and the people were good to us. We moved for family reasons. I really miss the wide open spaces and the ability to just go out into the desert and hike, walk the dogs, shoot your gun, camp, etc.

I shot out that phone booth 30 years ago if it is one that was by the Dime Store. Really can't imagine that many people watching you. But maybe.
