those of us close to the scene already know that Roy Mullins has been running the school system, and doing a fine job.He was bypassed when Lindsey was selected.Bad move that we had to live with. The board voted to let him continue doing what he has been doing....nothing.He will not leave for another job until he misses a paycheck.Never did know what World Class schools means.

As a FORMER Knox County School employee, I can't say I'm sorry to see "Chuck" go. He should have never been hired to start with. Roy Mullins was the man for the job.

Well, well, well, isn't funny when its time to buy books, computers, or build new classrooms we never have the money. I would like to know where the money for this buyout is comming from. It crazy what some of these people like the superintendent and sheriff get paid. Why does channel 10 do a story on that

What can't we let Mr. Mullins do the job. I attented Halls High when Mr. Mullins was principal there, and he did a great job. Why going "SHOPPING" when we have a very competent man in line now. Again this shows our county goverments competence.

Whatever happened to just out-right firing someone. If they're going to pay him 160K then he should be working. If he's not working he should be fired. Make it cut and dry!

Obviously, you did not learn how to spell when you were in school or learned to double check your grammar. The accurate way you were to respond was ...

Please make Halls High School look somewhat respectable.

Gee I wish they would have been as nice to me when I resigned in December. They kept my sick days I had not used to the sum of 800.00 dollars, oh I guess that will help off set Lindsey's contract. The school system in Knox County is just like the commission "good old boys " working for the working class. Some things won't change..

wow seems a lot of the state boe are anxious to be rid of their dos spend more money to buy them out looks like the state needs to return to elected dos s because the board of education in any given county plays the usual politics in this matter

Sweet deal. Get a job, do poorly, get fired, still get paid.

What incentive did Lindsey have to do a good job? None. He knew he was going to get paid whether he worked or not. Lindsey wants to leave so he pisses off the school board and they "fire" him. Lindsey gets another job and enjoys a nice termination bonus in the process.

Knox county schools got raped by another individual who id not have the schools interest at the top of his agenda. When Lindsey was hired I did not trust his double speak, non-answers to questions, and general attitude.

So congratulations Chuckey on doing a good job --- for yourself.

All of the channels are doing a story on it but I couldnt agree more with the comment on the money situation. We always get the PTA sending things home for fund raisers for just about anything. And then we see what he makes for doing absolutely nothing. I am so glad he will be gone.

The correct phrase should be county government's competence. I guess they don't teach proper grammer at West High either.

Couldn't the school board find a better way to spend $200,000? Why not just let Lindsey work out his contract? By the way, if he had chosen to leave before his contract was up, would he have had to pay the Board for breaking his contract? Seems like this would work two ways...

Who's responsible for this adsurd system with its contracts? They basically said he did a good job, and then they buy out his contract. Now you're paying for two superintendents. This isn't professional sports, lucrative deals shouldn't be made. Structure the contracts so this doesn't happen. It makes me hesitate to donate any funds to the school system. Meanwhile, the dedicated teachers are making squat!

Is he really doing bad enough to justify spending so much money to buy him out? Couldn't the money be better spent?

I am disgusted as a voting, taxpayer to see that this idiot Lindsey is still being paid $160,000 yearly. The phrase, "He will earn his more than $160,000". In my opinion, he has not earned that much money during the entire time he has been superintendent. I have 3 children in the Knox. Co School system and there has certainly been little to NO improvement over the last 9 years. I believe that this position should be an elected one, although if the events of the last few weeks with Knox Co. Commission are any indicator....it wouldn't make any difference WHAT the voters wanted !!!!!

Charles Q. is just the tip of the iceburg. His entire office is corrupt. Knox County deserves better than what we are being offered now. I also cannot believe that someone can say without laughing that Charles Q. has done a good job. For example, the credit for the higher ACT scores belongs with the students, teachers and administrators. Teachers teach the content and the administrators make the decision of who to hire within the school. Administrators also promote their own programs within each school. The students also deserve the credit for higher scores due to their hard work. Please! Charles Q. has done nothing but run this system in the ground by incompetence and a leadership style marked by fear and intimidation.
