This is for anyone to read that dares to research this topic. Thank God for topix where you can leave information that may save someone alot of headaches. If you really want to work here then go right ahead and apply. You will be applying for a job answering continual back to back phone calls of bitching, whining, complaining people who will scream at you, curse you, and emotionally abuse you to get what they want " My medications ". Being a former employee and hearing other employees calling it " The hell hole " and yes I was fired and don't give a damn anymore because I do not have to put up with all the hypocrisy in the company. This call center is run by a tight group of supervisors and managers who have one goal to kiss butt to save their own butts from getting fired. The supervisors are always in a meeting, never want to take phone calls themselves unless an e-mail goes out to do so from management then they complain about it. Supervisors are aloways involved in some kind of meetings for a community project. SUpervisors date, have sexual relations with each other and have meetings discussing which employee to get rid of next. This call center demands you dress in business attire unless you pay monies every month for a certain fund raiser then only can you dress casual ( wearing jeans or shorts). Employees tattle on each other to their supervisors. If you are lucky you may start you out at $11.00 an hour but they will keep you there unless you are one of their favorites. You have to get into the in crowd to get raises CCR 2 and 3. CCR stands for cutomer serive rep. Oh and if you have a stroke or heart attack or get sick on the floor they will not touch you to help you they will call 911 and loet you wait on the floor or in a chair until the perimedics get you there. They do not let anyone even if you are trained in CPR to do anything because they are always concerned about getting sued. They say you are not allowed to use your cell phone out on the floor because they are afraid you might take a picture of peoples private information, but nothing is private. I knew this girl whom was employeed there that took a mans phone number and called after him after her shift was over to irritate him because he was always asking her when he called what type of shoes she was wearing because he had a shoe fettish. The supervisor did nothing about the call so the girl took it in her own hands. Employees are stuck in the mud there and consitently gripe because they feel they never get paid enough for what they do. I agree. THis is a multi- billion dollar company and they can not even match a decent pay scale for the BS you put up with day in and day out. THey suck you in during orientation and training and then after a couple of years you find out what they are all about there. You can never please a supervisor at all about your phone calls they do grade you and sorry to say " You could hyave said this...done this..gone there..." It is nothing but BS just tio keep you from getting a decent raise. Bonuses? Yeh but they are crap nothing significant at all. All I can say is this ..You want to work for a company that is a farce? A Call Center that is full of BS, hypocrisy, gossip, firing people who have been there for years and making way for cheaper employees..then go for it...in about two years you will be pulling your hair out and regretting that you ever applied and were employeed by that place. Oh yeh just to let ya know they do not give a crap about what is happening in your life they only care about one thing that there is a body there to sit in a chair to answer phone calls by crying, bitching, complainning, stupid people who never even read anything about their drug prescription benefits. Oh yeh you do get benefits there, but they keep on changing them and raising the costs. I still have friends there whom are threatened with getting fired an whom are totally over it. THERE IS LIFE AFTER CAREMAKR!!

welcome to the real world. what job is not about how much work you do. I have worked for call centers and they are paid for the number of calls that come in. If they allow you to goof on that means they make no money and then you make no money.$11 an hour is a good starting pay. where else can you make that sitting on your butt. and most places the managers and supervisors do walk around and see who is working and do talk about the employees.. go to a manufactering plant and see the big dark windows employers watch you from plus walking the floor and stopping behind you for 10 minutes. then gripe. by the way most people gripe about their jobs. I haven't met anyone that loves to go to work.

Disgruntled? Nope. Just warning others who are interested in working for this place that it is not that great of place to work for. Yeh, I agree all people do complain about their jobs. No! I did not like working for this company and I did not mind the work.. you suck it up and do it anyway. So if someone wants to go work for this place after being told about it then go ahead by all means do so. You may like it. And to the person that says $11 an hour is good for a start by the time taxes are taken out and health benefits etc...that doesn't amount to much and can certainly put one in a quandry as to what comes in bi-weekly in a pay check. Mmmmm....and that is starting for someone who has a degree?? And what about others who don't have a degree?? I would suggest call centers look at what their employess have to put up with day in and day out and raise their pay scaled that match UPS or Fed Express. THe bottome line is how much are they willing to pay someone to help others get what they need? And i am talking about their members or the ones whom are paying their pay checks. Health insurance, Drug Insurance, Dental Insurance, etc...are multi billion Dollar companies and it is the upper upper eschlom that make the decent salaries when the CCR's are the one taking care of their pay checks as well.CCR's are the ones that are atleast trying to attempt to satify the ones whom are paying their pay checks. Disstisfied customers are certainly hard to deal with and can go to their employer and say " Caremark is screwing me over it is time for a change". EVen then companies do not listen cause bottom line it is all about the contract and the dollars with them. Who can outbid the other. And really employeesdo not have a chance to chosse they are stuck with whomever the company chooses.
As far as Caremark is concerned and their mail order pharmacies they are so huge and big and so many pharmacists inside and assistants and dr's calling in rxs or faxing them in or mailing them in ..it can all go to hell in a handbasket at anytime. But in the end it is the big Caremark screw up. Then CCR's have to say " We did not receive the fax...I am sorry.." On the other line " I watched my Dr's office fax it in..and you did not get it??" Faxes are so obsolete and many doctors won't mail rxs in nor even e-mail them in..when a company is dealing with thousands ot rxs per day it is easy to get lost in the big system. WHen I was a small kid my parents used a local drugstore the pharmacist knew your name, was peronable, was curteous, and generally concerned for your well being. I will say something else as well..CVS/Caremark has political ties in Washington and has lobbyist being more than well paid to keep the sytem going. I am so glad for a president like Obama that is trying to lower drug costs and put a lid on these huge companies that only want to rob from the middle class so the rich can get getting richer. Bottom line that is what CVS/Caremak is all about MONEY. Oh yeh then Caremark wnats you to go to CVS Pharmacy to get your medication locally and if you do not have one in your area you are screwed you have to pay moreout of pocket. And phone calls taken daily there are not anything but complainers who are not happy with the sysytem. CCR's didnt create the problem nor can theey rteally do anything about it. Why don't others make a person's day a little bit easier and understand that the system is a screw up and that using the US postal service to mail txs to the members will take longer than usual because the US post office is becoming more obsolete.

Well there is work and then there is legalized slavery, of which I want no part. I have worked in call centers too. Call center employment is about the only place I have ever worked where I get cussed out pretty much on a daily basis, and have to take it. When I was there I absolutely dreaded going in, and once there could not think of anything but when the torture that the callers, and supervisors would put us all through. I was not the only one that thought this way Everyone did. When I would finally get off I would be angry and upset and it is hard not to let that kind of job get to you inside. One day I was just like I am not going to do this anymore, and just got up and walked out. I remembered people doing that when I first started working there and would think What is their problem? But I found out soon enough. If you would say anything about a caller to your super they would rake me across coals like I made them Cuss me Out ! Like I had said the wrong thing that set them off. I had issues because escalation of the callers frustration with the System. It was a living HELL. It was good ridance when I left there. I would be happier living in the streets than having to work there for a living. I appreciate my new employer now, when a customer gives me a hassle or are being thick headed My supervisors listen and dont blame me for the customers behaviors. And $11 an hour isnt that much money these days when a gal of gas is $3 bucks and a qt of oil is $5. And those supers are thick as thieves there. They will defend each other even knowing they are wrong about something. So let them have all of it they want. This is also why there is so much turnaround at this place. And No this isnt my first job. I have worked since I was 8 yrs old and I am going on 50. This is not a good place to work even for sitting on your rear all day either, it only makes people fat and lazy as well as hateful listening to this crap day in and day out. Disgruntled? Not at all. Just warning people so they wont make the same mistake I did and waste about 1000 days of their life. But if you like that drama and the feelings of being controlled like a puppet then This is the Place for YOU!!!

I'm so glad that I found this post. I just have to share my story. I have worked in retail all my working years. 16 plus years. Yes, I am young, but I started working early. My parents put me to work early in life and made me realize what it was all about. I had to work during the summer and when school started back, I paid for all my school supplies/clothes. I learned what the real world was from a much earlier age than most people do. So I really don't want any feedback about what the real world is, because I could probably show someone a thing or two about the real world....but I digress.

Retail was my 'thing'. I get retail, but I got burned out. I decided to leave retail and try out 'call centers'. My first call center was in Oak Ridge at a happy little place known as Sitel. I started in Feburary of last year and by May of that same year, I was about ready to commit suicide. I worked in the Comcast Department. The stupidity that you have to put up with from the other end is unreal! And for 8.25 an hour! And you are pretty much told at Sitel that you are expendable. You have no clout, from the supervisors down, everyone is a throw away employee. I had never experienced anything like this in my life. Such a controlled environment!

Someone happened to tell me about a 'better' call center known as CVS/Caremark. I applied, got an interview, was subjected to 3 scary ladies interviewing me all at one time, obviously passed the Fear Factor test and was outta Sitel that same month of May with a new job at CVS/Caremark.

At first, I thought it was okay, if not a little weird. And my payrate was good. 11.50 starting and since I wanted to do 2nd shift, there was a differential that brought my pay to 12.00 something an hour. I had never known such money in my life. I thought I had struck gold! During training, I began to pick up on the oddness of the place. The supervisors are thick as theives. They pretty much do what they want with little or no consequence. There are cliques. Mess with the wrong clique and you are fired. One of the girls in my training class made the mistake of messing with the wrong clique and was fired that same day. There are the supervisor's favorites, people that just seem to float around the call center doing what they want to do. And then there was the calls themselves. OMG! All I can say is WOW! 80% of the people that call in are either wanting to bitch about something or want to tear into you personally.

Let me say, that by doing both these call centers I did discover something about myself. I hate talking on the phone. I hate talking on the phone in my personal life and in my professional life and will never do it again. With that said, I was only at CVS/Caremark for 3 short months. That's all it took to do me in. At first I was somewhat good at my calls, having prior experience. Mediocre, I'd say. But then, my 'Supervisor' began to pick apart my calls...and my AUX time. And then it got to the point where they began to throw me into all different sorts of 'ques', some of which I didn't even know what the hell I was doing. And being on second shift, sometimes help just wasn't there with a snap of the fingers. I remember one time, when I went into break time AUX on the phone, the sides of my head were just throbbing from the stress of the phone calls I had endured...only two hours into the shift. The call volume is unreal! Needless to say, it began to take its toll on my health. I just called in one day and left a message for my supervisor telling her I was quitting without notice, that I could not do the job anymore for the best interest of my health. I didn't even go back to collect my stuff on the desk. I literally couldn't step into the parking lot it had my nerves so shot. Needless to say, I'm back in retail and doing fine. Unless you are a glutton for punishment or can handle this type of environment, stay far, far away!

I worked at Caremark, but started when it was Advance PCS before CVS Caremark bought them.
I could sympathize with the callers since so many were older and many were screwed because of the Enron crap that happended and screwed them them out of their retirement money.
I have 12 years of customers service experience and I have to say Caremark was not that bad. Supervisor favotires? Yes, but I went in there to do a job, collect a paycheck not kiss anyone's ass.
I left because after returning to college and they kew it and even had my class schedule they screwed with OT an my hours, so I left. Would I go back? Maybe. Bottom line, keep to yourself stay out of other's business and you'll be fine at CVS CAremark.

This is the worst ran place on the planet. They do not care about their employees whatsoever. One supervisor there, if you are unfortunate to work under her, takes out her personal frustrations out on her white employees. She will spend the entire shift talking to her black employees until you have to interrupt her to ask her work related questions, at which point she will (she is famous for this) roll her eyes and act like you're a burden. Not mentioning names but starts with de ends with dra. Management there has had many complaints from other employees and are fully aware of the acts of this horrible supervisor but don't care to take action because the rest of their supervisors all defend each other and only care about that. Funny thing is that they don't work with one another so have no clue. So why ask them?! This is just one of way too many reasons not to work here.

Not necessarily anymore. Not sure when you quit there but things have become MUCH worse. I was there when it went from AdvancePCS to Caremark and then from Caremark to CVS/Caremark. It is NOT the same at all. After working there for close to 10 years, I finally quit. If you went back there, you would probably find that it is no longer the same place. Supervisors who used to be the most understanding ones and who always disagreed with certain ridiculous processes have all fallen in line like some kind of mindless drones afraid for their jobs. For your sake, I hope you never go back there. It has changed and it will change you.
