What is happening to our communities? Every day in the Knoxville area someone is getting murdered. It all comes down to DRUGS. Drugs are the going to eventually take over the world. God Bless our Police Officers who work day in and day out to keep us safe and fight this never ending drug war.

TN ME, you're right. We're worried about things like terrorist attacks while we're rotting from within. We have to take our communities back and it's up to all of us to do it.

Here we go again...

OR is NOT crime capital. You just truck yourself down to East Knoxville and see the difference.

Where is Officer? He recently wrote on another subject related to crime in Oak Ridge about the high rate of incidents in Scarboro. Well, here's another one for the books.

I will continue to retain my memories of growing up in Oak Ridge when it was more Mayberry-like: how I define the "Good Old Days".

The really sad thing about the crimes being comitted in the Scarboro Comunity is that the individuals that are doing these things usually don't even live in the neighborhood. Maybe one day our elected officials will wake up and come to the realization that what happens in Scarboro affects the entire city. Something needs to be done and it needs to happen fast.

What bothered me about his comments was that it made it obvious that ORPD was aware of the illegal activity in that specific area, yet he admitted that the dealers would be where they expected them to be anyway. To me, that says that there isn't enough patrols/enforcement in the area. "I could drive by that corner right now and see the dealers." Or something like that...

A few months ago our Police Chief said that he was going to clean up this city. This was after a large drug bust had ocurred. Well, we are still waiting for him to do his job. My husband and I personally have seen drug deals "going down" and we have called the police to report them. The comment from the dispatcher was "Have you called the drug hotline?" So we did and got a recording! NO ONE has ever called us back to question us about the situations. This town is getting worse by the day. Something needs to be done or we need to get somebody in the position to do it!

Change is good!

Woodland is getting pretty bad - illegals all over the place, and drug deals going on three houses down from here.

The dealers in our city are getting younger and younger. This issue is not only one that needs to be addressed by our elected officials, but also the area churches and youth serving organizations. This is not a black or white issue, nor can it be limited to those of lower socioeconomical background. Oak Ridge is a very unique city. All of our children eventually end up together. We only have one high school (unless you choose to private or home school your child), so there is a really good chance that all of our high school aged children are being exposed in one way or another. They know someone that either sales or uses. I have a son a the high school and he has told me who is using and making money from illegal drugs. I say all of this to say we would be kidding ourselves if we think that we are exempt from the societal woes that plague east knoxville or any other urban community. Oak Ridge DOES have a problem with gangs, drugs, and weapons. Oak Ridge High was locked down yesterday because of weapons. I was told that it was two seperate incidents involving a gun and a knife.

Oak Ridge is getting worse and worse and the police seem powerless to stop it. What good does it do to get an education in a top rated system if you end up dead? Woodland, West Outer and Outer Drive, Hillside, all are known druggie areas. Don't get off the main roads in those areas--you might get in the crossfire.

I REMEBER WHEN O.R. WAS A PLACE OF FRIENDS,FAMILY AND FOOTBALL. I DRIVE THROUGH THE CITY NOW AND ALL I SEE IS TRASHY PEOPLE,ILLEGALS AND DRUG DEALS.I CALLED THE POLICE 2 WEEKS AGO TO REPORT A DRUG DEAL IN THE FOOD CITY PARKING LOT-THEIR ATTITUDE WAS LAISSEZ-FAIRE! O.R. USED TO BE A PLACE OF SOME PROMISE FOR KIDS, NOW IT HAS BECOME A CITY OF DISSAPPOINTMENT.
