I am glad you came up with that plan Really, the only problem is that's already in the law ....lol. If you want to talk about greenbelt law ...Try reading it first. State law calls this provision ROLLBACK TAX....requires the seller to pay 5 YRS of prior TAXES after selling the property off and taking out of farming .But keep thinking .......

Its kind of funny how just a few weeks ago, Palmieri was crying and trying to say our county was bankrupt and we couldn't afford to pay for decent schools for our children, and now all of a sudden we have millions and millions of dollars to gamble on a megasite. Typical politics at its finest! I think its good that the county is finally taking some initiative, but Its kind of late in the game. There are already three megasites in Tennessee. Two of them have been totally vacant for years now. We need something like the megasite in this county, but they should have done this about 5 years ago. The only thing now is, they need to decide whether they want Dandridge to be a factory town or a tourist town. They can't be both and they just spent about 70 grand pursuing the later.
Brilliant! Your county is run by a bunch of morons. Where did they find all of this money at all of a sudden? I thought they were broke according to your county mayor and the video on youtube he released. He looks stupid.

Palmieri said the county was 146 million dollars in debt. He is still saying the same thing he hasn't changed. Not sure but one thing is certain, you can't keep spending without bringing in something to add revenue.

Besides for the mayor haters out there, how come the mayor gets all the hate when he can't even get votes from county commission. You can blame him if he has the votes but if he doesn't it seems like just more petty political mayor hate crap to me.

Would the megasite be good? I don't know enough about it. Would it add to the debt, I think so. Nothing here is laying out facts, that's what we need.

Old SarcBasty says,
Granted we have our share of Morons on the CC, the Mayor isn't one of them. They didn't find any money, hell the most of them hadn't even heard about this BS.
While the idea in general could have its merits, it has been developed in secrecy, and unveiled as the salvation of our county. Yet until tomorrow night, the delivery has arrived on a trash can lid. I sure hope Don hasn't spent alot of his budget and our money on this plan of salvation.
I think if he had warmed up with the property owners and formed a coalition of property owners with an interest in helping Jeff county, but instead he chose to partner up with TVA,( such a shining example on how to piss away tax dollars) which I am very wary about. TVA would agree to eat their own, to sell a lot of power, DUH !
Anyways, I will give ol Don one chance to explain his plan of salvation to me tomorrow night, and we will hope for the best.
If it floats, even a little I will support Jeff county to finance 3 million or so to bring it to the next level. Even if it takes a tax increase to pay for it ! The fools on the school board have pissed away twice that in plans that were thrown away, so what the hell do I care ? BTW, they are almost done with the designs of the JCHS remodel, you know the one that we needed 10 years ago ? You know the one they have had the first ten million in hand for several months ? You know the one they got the money for and then spent/wasted it on a Freshman acadamy, that we didn't need ?
So Yes, if the plan has any possibility of working, even though it won't, in the long run, I am ready for our county to "find" 3 million to finance this pipe dream. It appears we will have the right school system to accommodate all those executives little kiddies who are going to move here and save us !

At least they don't complain about small tax increases. They come here because the tax rate is so low. If you don't realize that Jeff County needs additional revenue your head is in the clay.

If we don't move on our, into the 21 century the Chinese will do it for us. They are buying up farms in Georgia and elsewhere. You may be wise to make the Yankees your friends.

Yepp! It's always hilarious how old man Palmieri seems to think we are rich when it comes to doing something that he wants to do and cries like a baby that we are broke when its something that he does't want. I think this project could be something great, but I'm sure that these clueless folks at the chamber will find some kind of way to mess it up.

So far, Its been a really stupid move to have this Wagely guy from the chamber as their spokesman, since nobody knows who the hell he is. Unless they are trying to make him the fall guy. he just got hired and already he is telling Jeff Co. folk what to do.

If you don't know who Wagley is that just shows you aren't up enough on the whole event to even render an opinion.

Palmieri has said over and over how much debt we are in and how much the taxes will increase to pay for it. He's also pointed out the damage the debt will do to other operations. He has also said the county needs to look at all possible options for growth and economic stability as he is opposed to rasing taxes.

There are a lot of clueless folks in Jefferson County and all you have to do to find them is listen or read what people have to say that don't have a clue as to what the facts are.

I do know who Wagley is, obviously, but it seems to be bad judgment to have a guy that just took a job with the chamber and does not even live in the county to be telling Jefferson Countians what we need to be doing. I know more about the so-called megasite than most people in this state and I know all about the inefficiency and ignorance that goes on at the chamber and that has gone on with Mr. Wagley.
