During the past 2 years, I've gained right at 40 pounds!!! Nothing whatsoever changed in my diet or any aspect of my life. The weight just gradually kept creeping up regardless of what I'd do. All my life I've been on the average to slim side and I'm now at 160 pounds.

I've tried both the didrex and phentermine. I've been taking the phentermine about a year and a half with absolutely NO weight loss.
I've done EVERYTHING the doctor told me to do and then some, change diet, exercise, went to weight watchers etc.
At one point she even said that phentermine wouldnt work if you took it with pop, even diet pop. So, I quit drinking pop over a year ago and switched to water. It didnt make any difference though either. I still havent lost ANY weight.
I can honestly take a nap on the phentermine.

Unfortunately though, I do know that if I stopped taking it my weight would continue to creep up even higher. I stopped taking it for a couple months because I hadn't lost any and gained 6 more pounds. The only thing it is doing for me is at least keeping my weight at a standstill.

I KNOW there must be better diet medications on the market I could try, but she hasn't suggested a thing and I don't expect her to.

This has got me so depressed I can barely stand it! It's stopped me from dating or going out ANYWHERE anymore.

I've had bloodwork, thyroid tests, etc.. all which come back NORMAL. I've purchased the additional "fat burning" supplements they offer, the ALLI fat blocker pills, as well as the myoden fat burning injections they recommended. They didn't help either.

Can anyone else relate to what I'm experiencing??? If so, does anyone know of a doctor I can see that will PLEASE HELP ME???

I've done quite a bit of searching on the internet and read about doctors all over the USA prescribing better medications for weight loss.
Surely, there's bound to be a doctor around here that knows about these medicines and is willing to let people like me give them a try. I KNOW doctors are aware that every patient is different. Whether it be their metabolisms or the simple fact that one medication might help one person yet not help another person at all.

As of now, I'm not big enough to qualify for the lap band surgery.(I pray to God that I don't reach that point) But, I am overweight and if I don't find somehing to help me now, it won't be long before I go from overweight to obese.
Seems a shame that this would have to happen to someone before a doctor would be willing to try something different.

he need to up your cardio. I take phentermine and it does help my appetite. If you aren't losing weight then you aren't eating right or working out enough. I lost 8 lbs my first week. Remember...it's a lifestyle change.

I swear, I have gone to the gym faithflly 4-5 days a week spending st least 45minutes on the ellipse machine. As far as changing my diet goes I've done that too.
These pills just dont work for me. They do give me a bit of energy for about the first couple hours after Ive taken them. But after that I cant even tell.
Remember when stacker2 pills contained ephedra a few years back. These were the only thing I could lose weight with. To me they work much better than the phentermine. Dont bother with buying the stacker pills that are out now though because theyre worthless. I read on the phentermine website other people writing that they didnt work or had stoppe working for them either.

If youve only taken the pills for a few weeks/months that explains why they're working so well for you. They do have this effect very early on, Unfortunately though, your system gets used to them FAST and the effects will no longer be the same.

As far as the gastric bypass surgery, what made you decide to have that instead of the lap band surgery? I honestly dont know the difference and am just curious.

Also, I dont mean to be nosy, but would you mind sharing your height/weight. I would LOVE to have either procedure done, but am not certain if i qualify.
I have two cousins that live in Ohio that were not much, if any heavier than me and they found a doctor that would do the lap band for them.(They both look like a million bucks now!!!) However, when I went to the lap band website, I didnt meet the criteria.

I know for a fact though that it is always at the doctors discretion whether or not to perform it. I guess its just easier to find doctors in bigger cities that are more fexible regarding who they will do the procedure for. I'd go up there in a hearbeat and have it done but my insurace wont cover it up there.

Who are you getting to do yours?

dr Boyce in Knoxville. Lap band puts a band around your stomach and it is basically like a belt. Bypass is when your stomach is surgically made smaller and your small intestines are bypassed. It's a very dangerous procedure and your body will never be the same. I used to be 150 and I'm 5'9". I worked out 6-7 days a week and I was a trainer/manager at a local gym. I started working a desk job...quit smoking, and got pregnant. At 3 months, we lost the baby and I picked up smoking again (by then I had gained 20 pounds) i put on weight over the next year...another 50 lbs. I got pregnant with my oldest daughter but quickly lost the weight, but was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and I physically couldn't exercise. My weight has hit an all time high at 290 lbs. my BMI is around 43. My disease I in remission and I now feel like exercising again. I have a very active lifestyle, but I make the wrong decisions when it comes to food and soda. My goal is to lose 140 lbs. dr Boyce has weekly (free) seminars

I'm a cyclist & weight lifter. I do LOTS of cardio. My weight ballooned 25 lbs over a period of months in spite of my efforts. After a year on phentermine, I have not lost any significant weight. The doctor has added synthoid & testosterone trying to help, but nothing yet. I'm almost 50. Somewhat frustrating.

Where did you find a doctor that gave you didrex? I need it and it worked for me in the past. The problem is finding a Dr. that will give it to me/

You should NEVER take Phentermine longer then a couple of months. First: it is addictive.
Second: It can wreck your thyroid
Third: it can damage the kidneys

It no longer works for you because you have been taking it for much too long.
As someone who has been dieting my entire life I can tell you to see a dietician and work through what works best for you. Everyone is different.
I did HCG and it changed my life. Real HCG- not those silly pills with the 500 calorie diet- daily injections.
If you are in the gym 4-5 days each week and eating properly (for me that under 1000 calories each day) you will not gain weight in leaps and bounds unless there is something wrong. You need a doctor.
And stop taking the phentermine. It's not a solution,
