Va rocker, 24, gets prison for nude image of teen

A 24-year-old Virginia Beach man who received a nude photo message from a 16-year-old girl has been sentenced to one year in prison.

Well I hope the girl was punished in some way. She is old enough to know better......girls these days are a lot wiser than they let on. I'm sure he isn't the first guy to see her naked or the last. Wonder if he knew her real age?

Isnt there such a thing as phones without web access or ability to take photos? Why would parents give their kids these kinds of phones?

I do agree phones are pretty much a necessity this day in age, but all that 'fluff' on the phones gets the kids in trouble. Because they arent mature enough to say NO. They arent mature enough to NOT play games while at work. They arent mature enough to NOT text while driving down the road.

Parents, wake up!! You're kids need YOU to say NO once in a while!

well the girl ought to be punished as well, she should be sent to a hospital where she would get a medical and mental examination. because girls that send nude pictures of themselves thru the internet or on camera phones, have a few screws loose, aren't getting the right attention at home and have low self esteem. this girl needs to be held accountable also.

This guys life is ruined because an overzealous 16 year old trying to look and act like an adult sent a 24 year old man a nude picture of herself. This is just stupid!! It says: "Atkinson asked the girl to send him nude photos of herself." Any bets that she told him she was 18? Other than ask for ID (not too hard to fake...especially out of state) I'm not sure how he could have gotten out of this one.

A judge sentenced Atkinson to three years for a phone photo. I think this judge should apply for a job in communist China. O, I forgot America is communist too—I guess the judge should stay. It seems to me that photos that hurt no one get worse consequences then drunk driving!

I agree that is rediculous that he is the only one punished. A 16 year old is old enough to know better. I think this is a rediculous law. I bet she never told him how old she wa 16 year olds certainly look older. If he thought she was 16 he probably never would have had anything to do with her.
