How do you make a transcript if you have been home schooled? You can get a variety of templates for creating a transcript from:
The basic rule of thumb is One high school credit equals 150 hours of work.
Rationale: 50 min high school class x 180 school days = 9000 minutes hours of study divided by 60 mins.= 150 hours per class credit.
To calculate your GPA:
in a nutshell, first you calculate the Quality Points (QP)
For a 1 credit class
For a 1/2 credit class the QP are half the value.
First assign quality points to each High School Subject taken
Then multiply the credit x the Quality Points
Algebra 1 credit A is 1,0 x 4 = 4.0
English 1 credit B is 1.0 x 3 = 3.0
P.E 1/2 credit A is 0.5 x 2 = 2.0
History 1 credit B is 1.0 x 4 = 4.0
Science 1 credit C is 1.0 x 2 = 2.0 Now add together all your Credits and Quality Points
Total 4.5 credits; 15.0 Quality Points
Finally to get your GPA Divide the total Quality Points by the Total credits earned
15.0 divided by 4.5 = 3.333 GPA
When creating your transcript, be sure to give your homeschool a name. Some parents use their last name and add Academy or Homeschool (e.g Smith Academy or Jones Family Homeschool)
Or get creative (Brighter Learning Academy or Main Street Academy)
I combined letters of my children's names to make Branch Academy
Want a website that will create the transcript for you.
Purchase a subscription to https://www.homeschoolreporting.com/
for $20/year for an entire family, you can keep records of all your students grades
Once you purchase the subscription you can create your school year (you can even enter previous school years--so if your child is a senior you can include all four years of high school.)
Then enter all the students subjects and grades. Click the transcript option and Homeschool Reporting Online will generate your transcript, calculating your Quality Points and GPA for you.
It was well worth the $$ to save me the time and headache of formatting and calculating the transcript info.
Want an "Official" Transcript? Get it notarized. Most townships Notary Public will notarize it for you free with ID and proof of residency
