Community Fellowship Church, recently opened, wants to open a in patient drug rehabilitation place right in the middle of town, in the brick building close to where the library used to be.

There will be a town hall meeting tuesday night, November 10th, on this issue.

Are you willing to have this facility in our backyards? If we have to watch our houses for thieves before, what about now?

Kinda makes you wonder why a new church would be doing that, rehab facilities need 24hour staff, specially a doctor of some kind for continuing medical treatment for addiction. Maybe they're counting on getting money from the addicted people's insurance for it, which tends to be people on checks and medicare. seems to be that this is just a cover for donations, big time donations

Shouldn't be hard to figure out who is behind this, just follow the money trail, bottom line is not in doing something for the addict, it is all about the money. Is someone hideing behind the church tax status, sounds very much like it to me. That has been tried before, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Top guys in that sort of thing make the big bucks and it is all about the tax exempt status they have as a church affiliated endevor, just another attempt to scam the state and government out of money. The city has hit rock bottom as it is, bring this in and stand back and watch it take the final plunge. Money, money, it's all about the money.

I think that it is an EXCELLENT idea! Probally one of the best ideas that I have heard of yet. It is a rehab which is to help people get OFF the drugs.. why would crime go up?? that makes no sense. Chances are, there would only be so many patients allowed and as a drug rehab counselor I know myself how hard it is to get into a rehab facility. It would be a great benefit for the community. What time is the meeting?

i have been in recovery for almost 18mths...i for 1 know that this would be a great idea for louisa!!!! when i needed rehab i had to travel to Louisville... i know all about the need to have a place close to go when you need help getting off the drugs & getting back your life!!!!! i have been fortunate enough to have a loving family to support me along my journey....but we also need people who have lived through it to go to when the fear of the disease tries to take over....i would love to help people with my disease in any way possible!!!!! only our trust in GOD can lead us out of these addictions & GOD'S people would be some of the best to start this rehab if they realize that addicts need to be able to confide in someone who's been there & done that & survived!!!!!

No one here is dishing it out to the addicted who abuse of toxic substances and because of that have a real problem.
I think as a people we must realise that the so called 28 day rehab centers, only exist because insurance companies pay for them.
Because 28 days has been proven to have a very low sucess rate compared to longer term rehab facilities.
So in the end, it doesn't really help someone that needs rehab, it helps the church's bottom line.

If you need spiritual help go to any good church anywhere in this county and you will be spiritually guided through your recovery, but don't go seeking sympathy or financial support, when you turn it all over to God you will find just what you are looking for, you won't find it in counceling or methadone or other chemical means of kicking your habit. Our churches are not drug rehab centers and the church should stay out of this. Money, money, I still say that is behind it all.

FYI!!! It seems all you have on your mind is money, money, How do you know so much about the methadone clinics or counceling or any other means of helping these people, give the church a chance.
You bitch if no one is trying to get them off the streets and you bitch if they do try and help.

The meeting takes place at 7:00 p.m., at City Hall which is located on Main Cross Street right beside the fire station and police department.

Obviously some of you have never had a family member on drugs! It is devastating! Our country is overran with drugs. It's not just our town. The only program our town has is the drug court which for the most part is set up for them to fail! With no counseling the threat of going to jail just isn't enough. I agree that the only way to stay clean is by having a relationship with God but they still need counseling and moral support. Each and every one of us fall short everyday! We are just human and will remain so until the day we die! That is why Jesus died for our past, present, and future sins. The people who are trying to start a rehab are caring, loving, christians who are trying to do the will of God! They love our home and would like to do all they can to bring hope and love to those of us who have lost our way.

Some people will never quit the addiction. It is very sad. No matter what you do for them to try to help them they won't quit.

They will go for months and be fine and then get right back on it.

It is a losing battle.

I usally dont respond to these topix but i feel I need to on this. I was told it is going in across the street from Community Church in the old Sunday School rooms. If this is true we dont need it there. About 150 yds from a school building where my wife works and children of family and friends go. While I agree that we need a rehab place here in Lawrence Co. I dont think downtown is a place for it. I will be there for the meeting and i hope all that oppose are there as well. Lets show the council and Mayor of Louisa we dont support this. For those of you who might know me i dont live in town BUT I do own rental property on Rice St. which would be harder to rent with a drug rehab on the back door step.

It doesn't really matter that it is close to a school or not, that is not the point, the point is that this is a new church, and only a year after opening they decide to open a facility that will be funded with an avarage of 10 thousand dollars per person, mostly through social security and insurance, it all just seems to be a scam to get money, in a way that I don't think they even know what they're getting themselves into.

Resident it DOES matter that it that close to a school andit very much a point. Where do you think drug dealers are going to sell drugs? A rehab is a good place to start. I dont think it can be there legally. How do you think a person who has relapsed without money is going to get drugs? Rob or steal. Who are they going to steal from and rob? You? My wife? One of the teachers who walk by that building to get to work? Stop and think before you type.
Now as far as the church goes, I really dont think the church means any harm by wanting to help. I know Rick and think he is a good person. If there is something shady going on there either Rick doesnt know about it or he sure has me fooled. I dont think he has me fooled. Also if there is something going on Rick and the people doing it with him would have to answer to the big man and i just cant see Rick working as hard as he has for the Lord to do anything wrong now.

Rick May and Mike Hogan knows about this and have discuss this!! Check out Channel 3 news tonight, 2 shot at a drug clinic!! That what we need, shooting around a school!! Money is behind it all!! I have no problem with this but take it out of town!! Better than that go to a clinic on a Monday and look at all the cars waiting for their fix!!!!!!!!!! They give them enough to make it for the weekend, our tax dollars at work!!!!!!!!!!

WHY don't you people go to Rick, and ask him yourself? Get your stories straight. That Rehab Center you are talking about, WILL be "out of town"...NOT in town.IF the building in town is to be used, it'll only be considered for use as an instructional site. NO meds, NO selling, NO dealing, etc...just instructional classes. The Center will be out of town. It will have a staff, and everything else it needs to take care of the FEW people who will be there.
I am constantly amazed at how people love to start trouble, spread gossip, and destroy another persons reputation, by talking about things when they haven't got a clue about the truth...or they are simply mean spirited. Get over yourselves already. BTW: Announce the location/date/time, for the next meeting about this, and maybe someone will show-up who actually knows what they are talking about.

Daily Horoscope for January 2

Capricorn

Self deception will be the main issue today. You may be judging your situation wrongly: don't hold back, say what you think diplomatically and without being hurtful. This should result in a positive mental outlook for you. Competitive sports activity will ease any stress or tension.
