just wondering if a couple thousand dollars (probably wouldn't even take that much) could be borrowed from tennis court upgrade to consider remodeling the LWES playground? multiple injuries ranging from minor to heads split open requiring stitches. i am sure that there are future LCHS tennis players, football players, soccer players, volleyball players, etc. whose parents/caregivers would appreciate a safe environment for their kindergarten and 1st graders to play in and on. if any reading this think my comment is stupid or unnecessary drive past LWES and take a good look at what these kids are playing on: loose gravel - good for twisting ankles, splintered wood and metal (some rusted) equipment - good for splinters, cuts, scrapes, gashes, tetanus, etc...anyone ever hear the phrase "pride of ownsership" with regard to their home? how about "pride of ownsership" for ALL LCS schools...It's funny to me that Mrs. Armstrong is tied to LWES because of her position with pre-school (which also uses the playground) but she doesn't care about her own student's safety enough to demand updates to not only the playground but the school in general. LWES is where our children get their educational start in LCS, isn't it time for us to realize that they are individuals too and deserve a more up-to-date facility?
Are you kidding Toni Armstrong doesn't care about the kids she doesn't even like herself look at her.

Like always people trying to keep Tennis from getting anything at Lawrence County.Just look around at all the other sports programs at lawrence County, they all have beautiful fields, courts, tracks, to play on. Tennis is not asking for the best and the prettiest, just one that is functional.Tennis is a sport just like football, soccer, cheerleading, basketball, track and field, golf, softball. Why don't tennis get respect like the other sports.Just look around at LC baseball got a new fence, soccer wants new lights, bleachers, and new concession stand ,and locker rooms. Football gets new turf every few years, and bleachers, they also want new concession building, and locker rooms.Softball wants another locker room so they don't have to share with the opposing team, REALLY!!!is that a need.Look at the Tennis courts, they are very uneven, have big cracks in them, the fence is blown inward f.rom the Tornado back in March. It was never fix.??? insurance money, Oh that probably went on new fence at baseball field HMMM???? Tennis is a very good sport for the students, they all are A's and B's students, unlike the other sports D's and F's can play. Tennis is a year round sport, The tennis players have to travel to Ashland, or Huntington, or Lexington to practice in the winter. So to all those parents who is BITCHING about the tennis trying to get some courts repair and up to playing standards.Think about this what if your kid was out there playing a sport he/she loves falls and gets a broken leg, because of some ueven courts or cracks. How would that make you FEEL....

What makes me sick is Tennis has been requesting some help fromn the BOE for years.Rep. of tennis has been to every meeting for years, Parents ,students, staff has ask the BOE to help the tennis program to get repair these courts. Mike Armstrong always says that you have to go on a list for years and they just don't have the money. But all Baseball have to do is say they want a new fence get get it the next week. HMMM???the same for football, soccer, basketball, cheerleading, track. This tennis program has several State Champions, several students had won 4 year college tuition.Isn't that anything to proud of ???? How does the other sports get there new stuff , I have been to several Board Meeting never once was anything brought up about new lights at soccer field, but how do they get approved. They tell me everything has to go through the BOE to get approve. How's that when it never was mention at board meeting.I think they make there own rules when it comes anything about tennis.Tennis tries to follow the steps and rules on requesting hope. But the BOE tells something different everyday.

It's funny that all the football moms want the money to go to a new turf field. LCHS football is embarrassing. The tennis team has how many regional titles in the past 5 years? At least 4 in not men and women's. Football....? None. The only reason people are complaining is the money is not going into the football program where everyone thinks its should go. I mean, the only thing that would make a difference is that Lawrence County loses on turf rather than grass.. SMH!!

AMEN TO THAT.

Get your information correct before spewing. The baseball fence was put up by the coaches, players, and parents out of the baseball team's own money. It was part of the insurance settlement for their old fence being destroyed during a storm over this summer. The BOE has given $000000 money to this project or any other project for baseball. To be honest, why doesn't the Tennis team charge admission? Could the not add some more money in their revenue by doing that? Or why not fundraise like ALL other programs do. I don't mean selling advertisement signs, either. I'm talking about fundraising. You can't just have your hand out wanting wanting wanting, when you don't do anything yourself to try to better your program.

Well the tennis team does have fundraising projects. They don't have the facilities for concessions. Good idea about charging admissions, they can block the BOE parking lot since that's the only parking they've got. So the BOE gives no money for ANY projects for the baseball team...that's an over statement. Ok so the big new wooden fence was paid for with insurance money but is it true that they are getting $7000 for a new picnic area? How much insurance money did they get to be able to replace a chain link fence with a treated lumber fence? The tennis team had damage from the storm and didn't get any insurance money. The fence around the tennis court is leaning and a couple of light poles, which are big safety issues.

I have my facts right. THE TRUTH HURTS !!!!HMM. Baseball must have got the tennis team cut of the insurance money .We can't charge for games because there nowwhere for admission, we don't have a parking lot, it belongs to the Board. We don't have a concession stand. heck we don't even have restrooms, if there is a gsme after 4:00 pm you just got top hold yor pee, or go in the field behind tennis courts. The tennis team and parents want to raise some money. The team even had big sponsors, but if there is no plan for the courts.???? The tennis courts are used by the public, unlike baseball field, football field, soccer field, softball field. We don't lock the tennnis courts up and don't let anyone play, do we. Anyone can play tennis anytime the want. Can I bring my kids down and play baseball on your field? can my kids play football on Sunday evening? NO WE WOULD BE KICK OUT!!!!!The new fitness center at the baseball field it suppose to be used by the public. Try going down there and work out the doors is always LOCKED!!!!That dosen't sound like it's for the public if it stays locked.

By the way the money used for sports can't be used on Education that's a different alotted funds. Education has it own funds. If it's not used for tennis it will be used for another sports. WHY NOT???

Do you know the brilliant minds that are the Lawrence county BOE decided to spend $360,000 on new tennis courts! What a ridiculous way to spend money on a handful of students. There is so many more things that Lawrence county needs other then tennis courts that 5 or6 kids play on. I wonder which board member likes to play or has a relative playing. Tennis brings in NO money to the school.$360,000 would have put turf on the football field and 100's of kids could have used it. All the football programs from high school to youth football and all the soccer programs could have to along with track and field events. And would have brought in thousands of dollars to the school and community programs. That's 800 to 900 kids vs at best maybe a dozen in tennis! What a JOKE! This board and superintendent is the worst in the state! And it shows by are current state ranking. They don't care about the kids as a whole just the inner circle of friends and their kids. It's time for the people of this community to step up and vote these jokers out and tell them to resign and quit killing our school system. It's bigger then tennis courts but that's the straw that broke the camels back.
New turf for football field how's that going to help soccer??? Going to make themmove down to the football field? That's what should have been done in the first place, instead of making there own field spending all that money up behind the school. They could have use the football field , it already had bleachers, concessions stands, lights, and lockerrooms, and score board. Now that's how your school could save a lot of money. was.n't anyone smart to think of that ??? Lawrence county makes me wonder sometimes.

"Concern parent", you seem to know lots about the tennis and finances of the school to know where every dime is spent. I'm not an employee, tennis parent or anything to do with the tennis team. I do have a child in LC school system. The fence was purchased by ?? and they bought it from 84 Lumber. I do know that. And they did talk at the last board meeting that resurfacing the two existing courts was the option for now. New lights I think also. The big uproar, in my opinion, is that the sectionals can't be held without four courts. And so they will not be played here in LC and won't be able to do so for at least 4 more years.
