I could see this one coming a mile away.
The overwhelming majority of people come on here with a bone to pick with someone they usually don't like or has rubbed them the wrong way at some point in the past, and seeing that they don't have the nerve to confront that person, they feel they can use this site to try and humiliate them and harm their reputation.
People also use this site to air the private matters of individuals that in most instances the public have no right to know about.
All of this is done annonymously, and then it leads to speculation and turns in to a "who shot JR".
People by nature are so intrigued by this stuff, some of my family as well, and as a result of all the controversy that has generated from topix users, topix has become one of the top forums on the planet, particularly in this area.
About 80% of the crap that's posted about individuals on here isn't true.
This site has caused so much pain and heartache to so many people in this area, that it was obvious that something had to be done.
You take a forum like this with no moderators, and this is what you end up with almost every time, and then when the posting rules change or the board starts getting moderated for content, then people start complaining about their freakin' free speech rights being taken away.
What are all of you cowards and troublemakers gonna do now that you must leave your potentially identifying information behind before spewing your venom?
It's really a shame because topix can be used for something much more positive, and in most loacations it is until you get to this area.

No I speak my mind on things that rub me wrong that I have no idea about the people. I may comment on something that has no affect on their life. For example, if I see someone post a comment that is just plain stupid about someone then I give my opinion on why this is stupid. Even if I don't know the person. It's that simple, you don't have to know the person but I base my comments on others comments just like I have done on your comment reply. So hurting peoples feelings or down right "spewing venom" is not my intentions. I have to say that whether I know them or not, I sometimes let other people know how their comments affect other people. And there are a few topics on here for fun that I do comment or mostly read. But all in all some of us are not the villians you have said. Have a great day!

Will someone please explain to me, how peoples right to freedom of speach are being taken away because they may have to reveal who they are? Wouldn't people still have the freedom to say whatever they wanted to? They would just have to own up to it. Is there a such thing as a right to remain annoymous when voiceing that right? I mean if so I have never heard of it.
I know alot of questions, I just don't understand and would like to know.
