It sucks! My wife, whom is a 3 time cancer survivor (among others illenses), is hospitalized regularly to undergo care for her poor health. We barley moved to KY from WV a little more than one year ago. Already my wife has been admitted to TRMC 4 times. It is the same process every time she is admitted. The Doctors ( and some nurses) question my wife's complaints. A couple of days after she is admitted, they see she was is telling the truth every time!
Once a pick line was put in my wife to administer her medications while at home ( oh, yes, she was being sent home!)., three days later the pick line was found to be the SOURCE of a staph infection. My wife had to be transferred to CAMC in Charleston WV.
Oh, let see what else. Because of the drug abusers in this area., TRMC believes ev1 that comes into their ER is just some poor dope-headed smuck trying to get a fix! They know what medications my wife is on, yet when time after time my wife is admitted., the refuse to give pain meds equal to what she gets at home; moreover, i'm not allowed to bring her meds from home to give her.
But they will sure let me bring the antibiotics She is given at CAMC for the Staph., because they couldn't get it at the time. Wondered if they billed her insurance for the stuff, when it was brought from home?( i should check into that!).

TRMC needs new mangement!

I do not think anyone should go there for anything more than a band-aid.In 20 years of living here, I have nothing good to say about TRMC, except I hope the new Medical Director can make a Change for the better.
Dr. Killer K is a descent man but an AWful dr. and thats who is usually workin the er! They do not know how to triage on arrival, which is SAD! Go to Ashland KDMC. That is a Great hospital.

Guess what there is no such thing as an emergency gallbladder surgery!! You could have got some pain meds, and went somewhere else!!

Excuse me! I don't know this case or this persons emergency, but I can assure you there IS such a thing as Emergency gallbladder surgery. Maybe you should do some research before you smart off with a remark to someone. My grandfather had to have emergency gallbladder surgery and still almost died from it. His gallbladder burst, by a stone blocking the duct out of the gallbladder and he was in the hospital at the time having tests run on him to find out what was wrong with him. Had he not been there, he would have most surely died. This burst in the night and he was rushed into surgery. He was in critical care for several days because all the poison was spread out into his system when it burst. So get your facts straight before you smart off to someone. This was CHH, if he had been at TRMC, they would never have thought to rush him to surgery to start with and we would never have known what killed him, for he would definitely have died there. It is a first aid hospital and that is all I can say for it.

I think it sucks also...when I was visting a few months ago alittle boy had puked in the hall it took them 32 mins. to come clean it up. granted they was prolly too busy doing something that didnt matter...sry to say but I find that utterly nasty..plus they try to double bill you..for things you already paid off and you have to keep going in and correcting the problem..

I think we couldn't have a worse facility available to a community than TRMC. I know a person who was in and out ot this "hospital"/band aid center, for 4 months straight, very sick, they couldn't seem to figure out what was going on. Finally when this person became so ill that the family didn't know what else to do they took them to Kings Daughters, it took them all of three hours to diagnose this person with terminal cancer, they died seven days later. TRMC performed all of the same x-rays , tests, etc. But never mentioned cancer at ANY point. Oh by the way the full time Doctor for years prior was Dr. Browning. Need I say more. This poor person was the third person I personally know that was a long term patient of his, that died unknowingly of cancer. Everyone needs to leave his office, and if at all possible NEVER be admitted to TRMC. I have family that works there also, when they had their baby they went to KDMC. I think that is pretty self explanitory, when someone from the inside won't even go there. I hope and pray everyday that no one I care about ends up there, you would be better off taking a chance and driving to Ashland.

I know someone who went there complaining of stomach pain. They ran an array of tests on them and couldn't find anything wrong. This person started feeling worse and asked to be transferred some where else and they advised against it. This person eventually signed herself out against their wishes and went to St. Marys where they promptly diagnosed this person with a burst appendix! This person was rushed into emergency surgery and was very sick for several days because infection had spread throughout their whole body.

The Doctor's told this person if they have waited very much longer they would have died from the infection.

I don't advise anyone to ever be admitted to this hospital. It is only good to stabilize people in case of emergency so they can be transferred elsewhere.

TRMC should close its hospital service and become a trauma center. They make too many errors and they have a high rate of infections. The nurses were always kind to me and did more for me than the doctors.
Why Then

We all know these stories, we all know people or family this or worse has happened to for years at TRMC, so WHY in the world does people still go there??? WHY do some people still sing their praises? WHY have the doors not been shut on this place? Its a first aid station is all it is good for, yet people still go there! I just don't understand it and wouldn't take my poor dog there!

I only go if someone asks me to take them there, but generally, we now go to KDMC, better care, w/ more qualified people, and better equipment there. But the one time I needed them, they got me right in, stiched me right up, and the nurses were very good, too. I know several of the nurses there, and ER, as well as a very good retired one, and they work hard, and long hours and do their best, and I also know, they up keep on their skills by going to meetings and classes. But I've never really had a BAD experience there, but have had alot of good trustworth people, who are not on drugs, tell me, that it's not the best. have also heard on the otherside of things, most who go there, it's a bogus trip to get pain pills....can't say if they walk out w/ them, but they really don't have emergencies.
