You cat loving fools really amaze me with the shooting him comments! But people call us uneducated on this argument! A human life or cat life? Your right it is the same! You have to license a dog. You do not have to license a cat, although you show proof of ownership and surely take care of them properly which she is not doing. BOTTOM LINE cats destroying property. The only reason this small story was even brought to anyone's attention, was because the wack actually called the news. Maybe I should call the news and be interviewed about her letting her cats freeze to death literally outside.
So you want to call us fools? I own a cat and I got a name to call you "BITCH" Keep your Fu-cking doors shut if you don't want things walking in your house, did you ever think of that? and tell your husband we all think hes a bitch too because he is. go to hell britany, you and that piece of chit husband of yours.

Well folks here is a real dose of reality in N. Ridgeville,Oh. in 10-2008. I was working out by the street when animal control showed up asked if I saw a tiger cat at this address without a collar. I said yes by side of house he walked up drive shot it with a .22 cal. silent round took it over to garbage can cut the head off, body fell in the peoples can he put the lid back on and put the head in the bag. I saw it first hand it said CDC on the side of bag ,so I asked why he did this. He told me it was a uncollard ferrel cat, that bit/scratched a neighbor and must be destroid to do a brain exam for rabies. Other wise the neighbor will have to get a series of up to 15 shots in the stomach with a 6" needle over the next two weeks this is a federal law issued by the "Center for Disiese Control" He also explained racoons get the same treatment!!! So the moral of the story if you love your cat's/animals take care of them!!!! I sure got5 a wake up call on this one!!!!

From http://www.cdc.gov/rabies/qanda/rabiesdiagnos...
----------
How is rabies diagnosed in an animal?
ΒΆ 1 deleted.
Rabies is diagnosed using the direct fluorescent antibody (DFA) test, which looks for the presence of rabies virus antigens in brain tissue. The test requires that the animal be euthanized.

A diagnosis of rabies can be made after detection of rabies virus from any part of the affected brain, but in order to rule out rabies, the test must include tissue from at least two locations in the brain, preferably the brain stem and cerebellum.
----------
How many animals are tested each year and how many are positive for rabies?

Approximately 120,000 animals or more are tested for rabies each year in the United States, and approximately 6% are found to be rabid.

UGH! I knew that, in order to be tested for rabies, they had to be decapitated. But that's just being a bit brutal, don't you think? Why couldn't the officer, after shooting it, put it in a bag and take it away? How awful if any children saw that (I don't think even I could've handled that!) And what about the rest of the cat in the trash can -- all the blood and gore that could possibly contain rabies? And what if that cat didn't belong to those people -- imagine coming out and opening up their trash can and seeing THAT?! That shouldn't be allowed. Also, I'm wondering about the collar -- do all outside cats HAVE to be collared? What if that cat was actually someone's pet and had its shots -- maybe that officer should've found out first? I have lots of questions, I know. Something just doesn't seem right about the way this situation was handled.

My cat was killed yesterday by a unknown person who shot him with a bow and arrow. I'm heart broken. Who has the right to kill a cat? any animal?? The police wont help us find the identity of the killer
