right, well, I'd like to see some proof that they're her pets, she doesn't have proof that they're her pets, they don't have collars."
Cats don't NEED collars - is this idiot for real? What gives this bonzo the right to kill a poor defenseless cat and a kitten with an bow and arrow? Damn - we need to get back to the way of the wild west - maybe then that will detur idiots like this from doing such stupid things!

Ohio Revised Code

959.04

Trespassing animals.

Whether or not they were her "pets" as she claims, if the animals were trespassing on his property, he has the right to use any means necessary to drive it away from his property provided he notify the owner within 15 days that he had harmed the animal and placed funds available to cover damages to that animal.

Point being, you are responsible for your animals behavior. The laws of the State of Ohio provide residents a legal means to drive unwanted animals from their property.

They better give this idiot,(and I cant post what he really is)jail time for this. That is why I keep my cats inside.Somebody should shoot him with an arrow,so he can feel what those cats felt.People with a mentality like that shouldn't be able to own any kind of weapon at all.

I would have done the same thing! The only reason this guy got caught is because he didn't use a rifle.

Those cats were going into his property and chicken coop. I would want to do the same thing, but I wouldn't want to go to jail. Those cats would breed, and there could be twenty cats in a matter of a year. And I never heard of a ferrell cat being a pet. Down to those damn cats and PITA.

So,what you are saying is,if I was your neighbor and your dog came in my yard,I could shoot it in the head and 15 days later tell you about it.I dont think so.Obviosly, you cant use any means necessary, because look where it got this guy.

You probably have a hundred cats in your infested house, and probably a nuisance to your neighbors. Down with all the cats.

We have a local cat person whose son told me during the summer that they now had 27 cats and kittens. They feed them and keep them in the garage, so during the winter many of them die off. During the summer the air is filled with the smell of urine and feces. All of my neighbors have complained to the city, as our children cannot play in our yards without smelling like cat crap. Shaker has no ordinance regarding cats, so they do nothing about the problem. I don't think that any of my neighbors have killed the cats or kittens, but I know that the level of frustration is so high that this might eventually happen. What are you supposed to do when the neighbor's cats dramatically negatively affect your quality of life, and ability to use your own yard, and property?

Catman...

If you pay for the animal or pay an injured animals vet bills in the process of DRIVING(exact word used in the law) a trespassing animal from YOUR property, then you are 100% within the confines of the law.

Period...

If Dorthy Brown's cats were allowed to run loose and "trespass" on Taylor's property, he had every right to assume they are feral cats.

The man should not be charged!!! If there is no collar it is a wild animal. Lorain county charges 14 dollars per license for dogs, let her pay over 100 dollars for her cats. Why should dog owners be penalized with the fee. Wild cats kill more birds than you can imagine. No one stops and cries a baby when they run over small animals with there cars, or when a deer is shot in the woods waiting for hours to die.

I agree with you,but that does not give him the right to kill them with an arrow. If you call the humane society, they will come and trap them or make the owner of the animals comply with the law.

Silly trailer trash. Someone should shoot him with an arrow before he has a chance to breed.

this truly is a double edged sword! i can see both sides of the story. i own 2 dogs and two cats all of which have their necessary immunizations and licenses. like Bob Barker and Dick Goddard say be a responsible owner and spay and newter your pets. All of mine are.you really cant call yourself the owner of wild ,ferril cats by simply putting food out for them! that just get them all in one place so they can start reproducing. the situation with inbred ferril cats is overwhelming and is not getting any better due to people not taking responsability for their animals. what this gentlemen did was a little drastic. I,m sure no one cares about his dead chickens or damage to his house from these wild cats. thank God none of these cats have scratched or bitten any children, most peole do not understand wild ,ferril cats are very different than domestic cats. he should have been more humane and called animal control.Or set out live traps, and deliver them to his local shelter to to be dealt with properly!

NO the humane society will not do a dam thing!!
The house across from me has nine cats that are all over the place. They crap in our yards and get into our garbage.Several of us have call the Lake co. humane soc and they tell us that the county has no laws or ordinances about cats. So for this guy to do what he did....good for him!!! I hope the charges are all dropped.
We have tried and tried to get this problem taken care of the right way with no luck... so now it's time for the neighborhood to take charge.

Russell, I say job well done. I personally use a 12ga. Its more reliable. If owners can't be responsible for their pets, then I feel you had every right to take the matters in your own hands. By the way, I'm from Holmes County.

I wonder: How would the shooter feel if someone shot him in the neck and left HIM for dead?!
