El Dorado's Mix96 has been outsourced! No longer any local jocks. Just boring national stuff. XM is better. Where does this end?

Hey xmer is xm expensive? Just thought I'd ask before checking it out. Can't stand the local stations, hard to pick up out of town stations in my '91.

We've started listening to 91.5 from Grambling for variety. And Randy Guess at 104 in Monroe is really likeable (M-F 10-2).

Sirius/XM is not expensive at all for all the channels you get. Definitly worth it (in my opinion).........

about 14 bucks a month,
but you get all the musical styles and eras
several entertainment shows and many stand up comedy stations
which is good for long drive to break the monotony

I can handle local radio
but how Sandy Sanford can get three syllables from the Letter M is beyond me.

Well I can’t speak to this specific station but radio in general is going this direction and I am not at all surprised that Noalmark (I assume) made this move. In markets the size of El Dorado…or even Little Rock…live air talent is a dying thing. Voice tracking and syndicated shows are of “better quality” and less expensive and easier to air.

I too am a XM fan and have had the service for about 6 years now. I don’t even have any of the pre-set’s on my car radio set for terrestrial radio and I listen to XM on line in my office. So many choices and most channels are commercial free. Plus you have the freedom to drive to Dallas and back without trying to find local signals.

However I must say that having spent over a decade working in radio…including El Dorado…it is sad for me to see local live radio die…

I think it would be great if they would get rid of the razorback show on 93.

I think drive time sports is great on 93. They cover razorbacks, but also do a lot of reporting on high school sports as well.

They cover recruiting for all of the SEC schools and where all of the Arkansas high school kids are being recruited.

Its not like there is a shortage of other stations to listen to if this doesn't interest you, but it is something many of us in South Arkansas appreciate Noalmark doing.

I also enjoy DTS, but now that MIX is not local, maybe it could move to the 100,000 watt station:)

I have noticed that El Dorado radio station Mix 96 is broadcasting without local disc jockeys and it's kind of weird because I knew they had a dj named JO I remembered that in the mid 1980's KCAJ FM was the urban contemporary format in El Dorado on the same frequency as Mix 96 and the KCAJ station did have local DJs at that time I thought that the manager at Noalmark said that all the six local stations will be more local in closing I hope that the station can hire some new DJs at least 3 or 4 by the way KCAJ was not part of Noalmark

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Gemini

If you're currently keeping something secret it will really start to prey on your mind today and you'll worry about blurting it out at the wrong moment. It's one of those days in which you're absent-minded and completely wrapped up in your own thoughts. As a result, it will be hard to concentrate on anything else and this won't go down well in certain quarters.
