Full story: Long Beach Press-Telegram

Even though she was laid off from her discount chain store job of nearly seven years, Florence Austin isn't letting that keep her from having a good time at this weekend's races.

One day someone will ask the people who pay good money to live in the middle of downtown how they feel about not getting any sleep on Thunder Thursday. It's especially difficult when you work down in Shoreline Village as well. Being this tired isn't condusive to working with the number of people I see on Race Weekend.

No offense, Disgruntled, but the Grand Prix has been around for a looooong time and, I'm betting, was here before you moved in. If you didn't want to be a part of it, you shouldn't have moved here. The event ended pretty early anyway, so I'm not sure what you're complaining about.

In the meantime, I'm at work. Let's write a newspaper article about that instead of unemployed losers who aren't going to let little things like a lack of income stop their fun.

Yes, the Grand Prix was here before I moved here, you're right. HOWEVER, when I moved here Thunder Thursday wasn't a concert with an outdoor stage. It was a car show that ended between 9 and 10 o'clock. More than enough time for me to get enough sleep to be well rested enough to work the races. Thunder Thursday this year didn't "end" (meaning I didn't hear it in my apartment anymore) until almost 1 am. That's what I'm complaining about.

OH BOO HOO: One day a year. People likely have to listen to you complaining all year long.

You have to understand that this is the breed of person who loves to complain about other people's fun. In another part of LB, neighbors complained so much that they forced the cancellation of an annual high school cross country meet in Heartwell Park.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Taurus

Time is hurtling towards Christmas Day and it seems that you're in a panic about how you're going to get everything done in time. You may even have reached the stage where you've ground to a halt because you don't know what to do first. So take a deep breath, calm down and do things one at a time. Otherwise you'll end up feeling confused, tired and tearful.
