Setting aside the Jesus stuff and nutty reproductive rights stuff, I think this is a good idea.
Girls and women that have abortions do suffer with an angst. Having the parents involved could give some emotional support to the girls getting the abortion.
Too bad that the bill will polarize the nut jobs on both sides of the issue,

With the outrageous number of teen mothers in this state & this is proposed??? This is just another way to keep New Mexicans repressed by creating a whole population of poor uneducated people.

Or maybe it will make the young people think before they have sex. Since parents don't seem to talk to their teens about the consenquences of sex beforehand, then they can deal with it afterwards.

Why shouldn't parents have to be notified? They are ultimately responsible for the child until they reach 18 years of age. If the child is hurt, they can sue; if a child isn't in school they are liable; if a child does damage, they are liable. How dare any government agency or medical provider do anything medical on a child without the parent's consent until that child reaches age 18. If they do they should be sued. They are children.
