"New Mexico's law is out of step with most other states," Chavez, R-Los Lunas, said in a statement Friday.
If all his friends started jumping off bridges would he follow suit?

It appears that you don't have work to do representative David Chavez. People are starving, the educational system in New Mexico is collapsing, peoples rights are being taken away, immigrants (like you) are being discriminated and yet you have the balls to publicly denounce marriage of people that love each other. If this is what a republican government looks like, be rest assured it's not happening in the next elections.

This makes me wonder why our soldiers are dying overseas to defend our rights when our own "Representatives" are slowing slicing away the rights of the individual. If we were going to become like the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany, why not bring back the soldiers, stop spending the money uselessly, and start building ovens. I guess these are people who read animal farm but could grasp the concept of "Everyone is Equal, but some are more equal than others!"

Wonderful - another step back for NM. Get your head out of the sand, Mr. Chavez. It's the 21st century. Time for equal rights FOR ALL.

Legislators are always trying to re-write history. Now how terrible to re-write the Bible. Marriage is between one man and one women. Its a fact that should not be reversed and is truth.

I would just like to have someone tell me or my teen age nephew or niece how refusing to allow 2 people of the same sex to get married (and enjoy the same protections, benefits, and rights of the state) or acknowledging that legal standing ranted by other states will in any way affect out rights. Or weaken my marriage of 44 years.

Or interfere with their ability to select a heterosexual partner if that is the way they choose.

Or negatively impact society if they choose a homosexual partner.

There isn't homophobic bigot or Christo-nazi who could do it.

BTW: In a few more years, I'd like them attempt to explain that to my grandson. Although I think as a 9 year old he could now ask enough logical questions that would hold them up to ridicule.

Same sex couples should have the opportunity to be miserable just like every heterosexual couple.

And if the homophobes are so against gay-sex, they should be all for same sex marriage. That'll stop it!

this bill is crap. nm is known for its diversity and this just changes all that. we tell children to respect everyone and the choices they make so its time to do the same as a state. If this went to the people i honestly feel it would fail because nm has many same sex couples. so stop being a baby and let people live the way they want if it makes them happy

You will teach your kids nothing. You will indoctrinate them as you have been, not how to think for themselves.

Mind your own business...what's so hard about that? Conservatives profess some libertarian ideas when it's convenient, hell, they use "freedom" as their mantra. I guess you're free to do whatever you want as long as it's what they want. Effing hypocrite pieces of poo.

This is a simple issue; put it up for a populist vote. If you want to be herd vote. And the majority will decide. And if you donít vote and it goes against your beliefsí, you have only yourself to blame.

for that. People everywhere are diverse in the way God created and wired them. Don't second-guess god and don't interfere with other people's rights.
people like you just twist God around, of course im going to get an argument by people like you, your the same crowd of people that crucified jesus to begin with, steering our nation away from the bible is not what our forefathers had in mind, gay rights is not what abe had in mind when he fought for civil rights, ONE NATION UNDER GOD, GAY FREE NM
