I hope this means the gaurdians of the minor not really the parent. Why should the parent need to be notified if they have nothing to do with the minor. And the gaurdian is the one that needs to know so they know what is going on with their dependants.

This is not the role of government! This is a personal issue, a family issue, a religious issue. It is DEFINITELY NOT A GOVERNMENT ISSUE. Government needs to stay out of our personal lives. Vote this BUM out.

If a 15 year old kid needs to take cough medicine while at school, there has to be a note from the parent authorizing the school nurse to administer this OTC medication, and the medicine needs to be kept in the nurse's office. But if she decides to get an abortion, the school will help her, and no parent can be notified. Stupid stupid stupid.

Maybe because there's maybe five parents in the country who would beat, abuse, disown, throw out, or kill their child for taking cough medicine.

There's a hell of a lot more who would do any one or more of those things to their daughter if they found she was pregnant, let alone that she sought or obtained an abortion.

That's your logic? That's why you think it's okay for a girl who is underage to get an abortion without parental consent? They can't go to the hospital and get stitches for a cut without parental consent...are you going to use the same reasoning there? Where do you live that you see parents beating and killing their daughter if she gets pregnant?

Of what, dear writer? The fact that she is pursuing an abortion or the fact that she had one?

The abortion issue should NOT be revisited by states. It was settled long ago by the Federal Government - re: Roe vs. Wade.

Why are there religious zealots who insist on foisting their beliefs on the public?

Roe V. Wade said it was for an adult it never said for underage minors. So that is where this comes in for minors. And I still say the gaurdian should be notified before the procedure and have to give consent.

Why don't you actually read the article before you spout off something that is not true.

Wait a minute. I'll ask you this: If the school official doesn't want to take a young pregnant girl to get an abortion, is he or she going to be forced to do so, or will he or she be forced out of his or her job, and how is that not government interfering with peoples lives?

Basically, the pro-aborts are against regulating abortion, and if parental, notification is not passed, then you will end up with abortionist like the ones in pennsylvania, who go on performing abortions in the worst conditions and killing young girls, as well as the child growing and developing in the womb. Also something to think about, if sex education is working, why do these school officials need to abort a pregnancy under the cover of darkness if their programs are working so well?

I think the whole point here, without the ad hominem justifications, is that this is the only medical procedure out there that people are FORCING on young girls without parental consent!! It's wrong to transport an underage girl for such a procedure! It is beyond me that so many here are defending that, but if someone took your kid out of school to go get an ice cream and watch a movie without telling you, you'd go ballistic! Perspective people!

Do you think these people have children, that are of the age to seek an abortion without their consent? Personally, I don't, and I think these people have an agenda all of their own, and caring about women is actually the farthest thing from their minds.

Actually I agree with you 100% here. The analysis of those motives though leads to a dark place.

To a very dark place: The slaughter of unborn children. If these people cared so much about choice and government not interfering into peoples lives, then why do they rob a child of a lifetime of choices, and would force parents out of their own childs life and death choice?

To be honest I don't know. I don't understand the vehemence of some to enable and facilitate abortion beyond all reason or common sense. Parents are held responsible for the actions of their children, yet at every turn they are being denied parental rights.

That is exactly how the pro-aborts want it. Take a look at who will be behind the fight to stop this legislation, and I assure you the biggest lobbiest will be Planned Parenthood and the abortion federation.

She had had a tough life, abandonded by her mother, father nowhere to be found, finally found a good home with her aunt but still had an emptyness inside her.

She thought maybe intimacy with her new boyfriend might fill that void. When she became pregnant she was too ashamed to tell her aunt and sought counceling. She decided to have an abortion and was assured that it could be kept secrect and her aunt would not have to know.

After the abortion she felt even more empty, couldn't find use in school, family or friends anymore, fell in to a deep depression and finally left a note near where she knew they would find her body.

But the promise was kept that her Aunt wouldn't know... until it was too late.

And so as is the mentality of so many extremists, while protecting the self-proclaimed "rights" of their cause, they usurp the rights of many without thought or care to the consequences or morality of their views.
