this report fails to mention so many essential parts of that night.
its rediculous.
what happened to Matt Calhoun was completely unnecessary and just simply unfair. Matt would never "get completely physical" with the cops or "take a fighting stance", he is MUCH smarter than that.
the cops flipped him on the ground faster than he could even ATTEMPT to fight them back.
this is just outrageous and WAY too vague for people to try and take sides if you weren't a witness of what happened.

Many 'smarter than that' people do stupid things when drunk.

You forgot to mention that it was well past 1 in the morning; all quiet is 10 p.m., NO MATTER HOW MUCH MONEY DADDY HAS.
Another case of arrogance that deserves to be punished; if only more of these rich kids and their "not MY son" daddies would get into legal problems. Maybe they'd eventually discover that they have to obey the laws the way the rest of us working stiff tax payers have to.
I have no sympathy for the rest of these noisy arrogant "center of the universe" party goers, either. Maybe some day they'll develop some much needed HUMILITY, but I won't hold my breath waiting for that to happen.

Correction, no one is smart while drunk.

Fighting stance? They should have just tased him. Too many cops get injured taking drunk idiots to the ground. daddy too, just out of principle.

There it is, I knew it was coming...and it only took four posts! Your hateful class bias is claerly in the first sentence; that he was rich.

It's funny. If a cop did precisely the same thing in Watsonville or a black neighborhood, liberals would be outraged and screaming profiling and police brutality. But when it happens to a person who you perceive to be rich, well, the arrogant snob had it coming, right?

I'll play Devil's Advocate on this one since Los Gatos has changed so much in the last 15 years that there is a lot of animosity between the residents of the town and the police whom the residents sneer at until they need them for something. I've heard it from officers there that don't like the attitude displayed by the rich kids towards them and I'm sure considering some of the affluent folks who have moved into that town in the recent past that their parents display an 'I'm above you civil servants(and most people for that matter)'. I'm not advocating for the police to be a holes in their own right like they are in many towns in America but balance does have it's benefits. Most of the cops in that town actually aren't that bad either when you compare them to Campbell or Milpitas and if you are decent with them they are likewise. In some respects the other poster was right that this wealthy pr!ck probably had it coming, what goes around comes around.

Good one! I like the fact the big Gang bust in Santa Cruz City hauled in ZERO Mexicans.
I wish Downtown Santa Cruz could be like Los Gatos... or even Santa Barbara

Scorpio

The last thing you want right now is to be left alone, because you're feeling far too sociable for that. You're very outgoing right now, and will manage to hold your own in any social setting. If you're hoping to turn someone's head, they'll be putty in your hands once you give them the full impact of your charm and personality. They don't stand a chance!
