Shooting raises question of self-defense

A bizarre shooting in Belen leaves a former corrections officer dead, and a former Marine in jail charged with his murder.

The bullet entered Gary Gabaldon,s head at a 45 degree angle and emerged to the front of Gary,s neck just left of his larynx. The bullet was fired 24 to 30 inches away which is why luke sanchez was charged with murder. Luke Sanchez made many mistakes carrying out this murder because of what was told to the arriving police. Blame should be placed on both luke sanchez and gary gabaldon for the fact is they both acted as criminals. Luke Sanchez did not think the media was going to take so much time on this crime and thought he would be the valencia county hero.

There were soft tissue injuries and fractures to Garys Gabaldons chest. White blood cells made it to the scene of the injuries before death. Gary suffured rib fractures and hemorraging, he was able to survive 45 minutes afterwards pain and injuries sent Gabaldon into shock. Rescue personnel were unable to treat this incident that is why he was airlifted to unm hospital where he died. He was then taken to FBI crime lab for an autopsy and toxicology. Luke Sanchez thought he would be able to carry out this murder as a hero and never expected the mass media attention.

Alcohol definately altered Gabaldons ability to funcion, both in his muscular and motor coordination and in his ability to perceive and appreciate the significance of his surroundings. Sanchez took advantage of this and had Gabaldon killed for Reyna Trujillo, Gabaldons ex-girlfriend and mother of his child.

For it does indeed cause serious reasons to require a full trial of Sanchez for the murder of Gabaldon. and I think the public does have a right to a full trial that will examine all the evidence. After all, Sanchez' supporters
seem proud of vigilante aspects of this case. We just must not condone THAT.

Unfortunately most of them seem to have slept through high school civics. But I don't think they care to learn. They are too wound up in their warped mistaken sense of entitlement to behave as vigilantees. He called in what he saw. Then I so wish Sanchez had used good sense and gone home via different route. or waited for the robbers to get way ahead before he took the same road home. Maybe Sanchez wishes that too, now.
