Heads at the Malibu Sherrifs station should roll, people should be fired for negligence, how could they just let a young women walk out the door in the middle of the night without her phone or car or making sure she called someone. they shoud have taken her back to her car and given her her phone. this is unacceptable and Baca is an Idiot!

Before the parents continue to accuse the Sheriff's Department, they should consider how their own actions led up to their daughters death...the Sheriff's offered Mitrice to wait in the station's lobby till daylight and use a payphone to make collect calls to have someone pick her up. SHE chose not to. Also, the restaurant called her MOTHER to see if she would like to pick up the tab so her daughter can go home. Her own MOTHER refused to do so and told the restaurant that her daughter needed to learn a lesson and get arrested. Now who set off this whole tragedy? The Sheriff's who offered Mitrice to hang out at the station after she was released, or the MOTHER who had her arrested because she refused to help her out?

Those responsible will be retiring in a few years at age 50 and you get to pay 90% of their salaries and health benefits.

Unless they claim phony disability. Then they retire sooner and get to use the handicap parking spaces at the golf course.

She was an adult and responsible for her actions, end of story. Why are you blaming the police? They can not force you to stay, when you are no longer under arrest.

The loudmouth Litice called the police station in a lighthearted tone and even laughed with the dispatcher. All she had to do was leave right then and pick the daughter up. Instead, she wanted to wait until the next morning. Sounds like it backfired on her. The Mother is totally responsible - no one else.

I do not believe that the Sherrif's department would have released a young White women at that time of morning in the hills of Malibu. And I also believe that the Restaurant has some responsibility in this matter because I have often charged food by phone with no problem, and they would not let her grandmother pay for her meal by phone. The restaurant should at least offer to pay for the funeral!

Laying the foundation for a civil lawsuit. Why not the government has deep pockets...the tax payers will foot the bill.It is common knowledge that a certain ethnic group claims mental problems for the sole purpose of collecting General Relief checks.A tragic event, no one is responsible except the creep who may have taken this young womens life.

You obviously don't know much about the Sheriff's Dept. There is no 3% at 50. Safety retirement doesn't work that way.
Ms. Richardson was not holdable, she was not determined to be 5150 WIC, and was a responsible adult capable of making decisions for herself. "Sandra" had it right; those responsible were her parents and ultimately herself. From the looks of it, her father may already be using the handicap stalls at the golf courses.

A college graduate, eh?

Failed to pay her bill, eh?

Got arrested, eh?

Doesn't have any common sense, eh?

Is dead now, eh?

Doesn't sound like it's anyone's fault but her own.

so true the parents should bleme themselves first see what they did wrong knowing thier daughter had mental issues but now shes gone and instead of taking responsibility is easier to blame people who are just doing thier job, next they will sue the sheriff dept and act like victems when all of thiss could have been prevented

If the deputies had not let her go as soon as she was processed, she and her family would be suing for false imprisonment. She was a grown woman arrested for commiting a crime. She wasn't taken into protective custody. When she was released, she was offered sanctuary in the lobby. What the f else do these dopes think the state is supposed to do for these morons.

your right about the restraunt, but the white woman remark is so stupid and narrow minded.why do white liberals and minorities think all white people gang up on poor minorities? NEWSFLASH, whites dont like other whites! did you know most jews dont like whites neither? someone at your university is teaching you all this garbage. why belive it? most college professors are bitter due to working a job that gets state funding.. id be bitter too if my lifeline depended on the mass numbers of minority students funded by the state.. when I hear minorities saying dumb crap regarding whites, it makes me think their jealous they werent born white.. get rid of all the whites and try explaining to your greatgrandkids who all those pasty skin folks in the history books that invented all the stuff were using at the moment.. get rid of all the whites, you might as well get rid of the word ''invention''

When she was released from jail, what no phone calls to her dad, sheriff didnt pay phone bill. would not let her call, not even a ride to a close place to make a call home. Something is not right,i think they all should take a lie detector test and hold an outside investigation by other detectives. Two miles from the sheriff office and get murder. You can fell by the way the sheriff says things in the story , something is not right look harder.

You're not helpful. Young girl. Middle of the night. It's called common sense, compassion and being a good member of the community. Sheriff Andy Taylor would have made the right decision.
