Faced with weak enrollment, technical setbacks and a rash of complaints from maritime workers, the feds have delayed by nearly seven months the September deadline for a national port worker ID card.

Why are we dragging our feet on TWIC? There has been plenty of time. If you have not done it for fear of being denied, then you have issues. Take care of them. If it is immigration status, then become a citizen or get out. If unpaid taxes, then pay them. If you have a criminal record, then maybe you need more time to pass to prove yourself or should look into have your records sealed. We are delaying security for the sake of someones feeling? or they lose a job they shouldn't have qualified for to begin with? Time to get back to truth before tollerance

With regards to the worker who was killed by a fork lift, my question has ALWAYS been: WHAT in the hell was a 73 year old man doing working manual labor on a dangerous dock?

And as for the ILWU, they are one of the BEST poster children for graft, corruption, nepotism, and incompetence in the port of Los Angeles that can be offered!

Big unions USED to be good for the workers, but no more- they are a hindrance more than anything else! The ONLY people who benefit are the HIGH paid officials (who NEVER work) and nobody else!
