What it is

How coincidental. My worst neighborhood pothole and city hall are one and the same.

Yes, mosquito larvae can live in the water in the pothole. They don't need a lot of water to survive in. That's putting everyone at risk for West Nile. Shame on the City of LA -- I don't know of any pothole fix that keeps the potholes fixed forever. If the king wants smooth rides then let him stop wasting money of city of LA taxpayers and actually put down some rubberized asphalt. It's called fixing your infastructure.

What a great public service. When I first moved to L.A. last September, I was astonished at how bad the roads were. I kept thinking we were in Beirut.

It's called fixing your infastructure. it is important to know that the city of LA does not treat any Standing H20 for mosquitoes. County vector does. It is important to call your county supervisor if you think you have a breeding issue when you have standing water. Also, check you and your neighbors sprinklers is they are broken or over watering b/c that is the primary source for water being on the street.

Good job Daily News. I posted the location of my pothole on Woodman just South of Riverside Drive last week. I was astonished to find the pothole filled in two days later.
I hope you keep this site up. Thanks!

Barham Dip

In the right turn lane when turning onto Barham Blvd next tot he drainage grate is a sink hole which occasionally get filled in but keeps sinking. If you don't know about it, it you can hit this deep hole very easily as it looks like a patch as you approach but it is a hole.

In the right turn lane turning onto Barham next to the sewer grate is a sink hole which is occasionally patched but soon sinks again. Because it looks like a patch you can not tell it is a hole until you hit it. This is very dangerous and needs serious attention.

sink hole pothole

This has been repaired poorly. The water shot up and made a huge hole in the street so I reported it after they fixed it twice of which "poorly" is the excuse of the job.
The same thing happened on Tampa near Strathern and that was fixed so nice but the one at Arminta and Vanalden is not. We have to stop at the sign and we got no place to avoid the many depressions and I have reported in at every possible place it is stated to report it. I want to see it fixed. Unless we go on the wrong side of the road, we cannot escape the one side at all and we have to use this or go out onto Tampa to get off the street. Can you help. I did not see the map.

Pothole on Balboa and Burbank Blvd. S/W corner has been re-done many times in the past five years. It may be a minor sinkhole.

The MIRACLE MILE to San Vicente to the West and to Wilton on the East is disgraceful!!! It has been at least 5 years since anything major has been done it. Lots of small stuff. It is especially bad going East. I will never believe that there could not be a crew gathered from your workforce that could do this and other repaving between 10pm and 6 AM or 9pm -5AM and not impede the morning crunch. Take a poll among your workers you will find many who would love to work those hours which could accommodate some of their family situations. Wilshire is a street to be avoided because it keeps you in the shop getting your car aligned every other week and who can afford that these days!!! Operation SMOOTH RIDE is yet another failure of the Mayor and will be remember when he runs again.
