Remember the saying about stcking your finger in a light socket?!

What and where is the "little house button nest to the power button"? Is there a link to the blog you can give us. And what about Cartman? You know. The computer whiz you told us about that helps computers.

Hey, Alabama had something called 'BamaJam on Friday. Just happened to read about it a little. Big name Rock bands. Can't help thinking U wuz there soaking it all in! That is not true.
The Constitution says a person has to be a natural born citizen in order to be President. It does not say you have to be a US native, it says you have to be a citizen at birth. Since his mom is a citizen, Obama didn't have to be born in the US to be a natural born citizen.
Hi Rose, how have you been?

Hey, have you ever watched the movie "A Christmas Story"? The one about the little boy named Ralphie that wants a Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas but everyone keeps telling him he will shoot his eye out. Well, I bring it up because your leg photo in your green mini-profile avatar thing sure makes me remember the lamp scene in the movie. The one where the lamp looks like a lady's leg. My favorite part of the movie is probally where the boy sticks his tongue on the frozen flag pole and gets it stuck.

Okay now. Obama has presented his long-form birth certificate to demonstrate his legal U.S. citizen status. Some say it is fake. I'm not wanting to dispute the validity of it. I trust the President is telling the Truth.

You say he could've been born anywhere on Planet Earth as long as his Mom was a U.S. citizen at the time of his birth, which makes him a U.S. citizen. In that case, he could've been born in Kenya and still be a U.S. citizen. Right?

I'm not saying he may have purposely lied about his birth or that his long-form birth certificate is a fake. We don't know. You don't know. I don't know. But if he was really born in Kenya (which according to your argument would not prevent him from being declared a U.S. citizen as long as his Mom was a U.S. citizen) and not in Hawaii, then shouldn't there be some accountability here?

What if an investigation turned out that it was Kenya and not Hawaii and that the President did a coverup, while running for President in 2008, to deceive the American people into believing he was born in Hawaii because he himself believed at the time that he had to be born in one of the states of the U.S. to run for President? I would say that would be grounds to call for an Impeachment and possible Removal from office. Wouldn't you?

lastoutlaw and Stan and Kyle, you will definitely want to be on hand for this one. It's really good news. Maybe you can guess what it is by now.

You threw away the freebee Dell and actually went out and BOUGHT one?

If so, then THANK YOU!!!! You did your part in making a purchase to stimulate the economy in the proper sense. So what if the computer was made in China - it was sold HERE; and that provided jobs for sales clerks in the Big Box Store (Walmart, Costco, Best Buy) so that they, too, can participate in commerce and use their paychecks to make purchases somewhere, which stimulates the economy and provides jobs and income and spending money - you see how just by YOUR action; it becomes like ripples in a pond and the reaction is stimulus for all!

Proving Newton's Law of Motion - to every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Somebody sells, You buy. Somebody orders replacement, replacement is built, replacement is shipped, replacement is received, replacement is put on shelf, replacement is sold. Money changes hands. Bills are paid, wages are paid, taxes are paid, economy is stimulated.

MUCH better and makes a lot more sence (mainly because it shows IMMEDIATE results) than the TARP that Bush and Obammy dumped on us; which was nothing more than a 'trickle-down' theory that claimed it the rich Wall Street people get bought out (bailed out is the term used), then they'll in turn start hiring and creating jobs.

It did - in other countries via vacations and lavish purchases made by these companies. They STILL didn't create jobs.

YOU DID! Simply by making that much-delayed purchase of a new and reliable computer.

I think that at the National Convention, Ann and I will step aside and nominate Anonymous California to be our next President. Your economic solution is the only one that will work. It does work. You've not only saved a sales clerk's job; but the jobs of the people who ensure that computer is unloaded from the cargo ship out of Asia (China or Korea) and transported to that store in Ohio where you became the ultimate end user. A lot of jobs relied on the hope that you would buy that computer.

And you didn't let them down.

In that brief span in time (say, about an hour?) you've done more than Obammy did in the 3 1/2 years he's been in office (we won't count the Government jobs he created for his Czars when Congress was in recess). You gave jobs to the backbone of America. The little guy. The guy who pays taxes. Main Street America.

I nominate Anonymous California as our Next President of the United States of America!!!!!!!!

It's been a big Saga.

Failed to report that I've had it for some time now. Had some issues I had to work through with it. Began posting with it around late June. A few posts now and then from mid-July to now but pretty much layed low.

I did think why even say anything about it at all. But then I thought about this thread and re-read the many posts made by lastoutlaw, with his expert "computer tech" advice, and Stan and Kyle in which they really went out of the way to try to help me save the old used Dell Dimension 4600i Desktop. And that perhaps there may be a few readers or posters of this thread who may be interested in knowing the outcome. I wanted to be honest to Topix too.

Glad you see the numbers too! I even thought it might just be a reflection of trouble from my end. I suppose it could be just a large number of readers and no posting hardly taking place. I hope it's nothing bad -- like maybe someone or a group having hacked Topix and is messing around. I was reading on some threads and noticed that a posts made last Thursday (Aug. 16) had their location displays blanked out. Don't know what that was all about but it reminds me of last year when our locations jumped the ship.

I've noticed what appears to be hacking on some of the periodic polls that topix sponsors. Like the one about supporting gay rights. The counter in Lost Angels (not a typo) went from 2 supporting and 15 not supporting to 93 supporting and 15 not supporting in less than one hour - and the national map went from almost all red to almost all blue in the same time frame.

No supporting comments, as one would hope to find.

Hacking. The only explanation.

Professor Hackenbush buying a breeder's guide made more sense than some of these polls (and how the numbers were derived), wouldn't you say?

I was looking back through the posts. Reminiscing this thread. The way we were. What have we become?!

The numbers! I got the idea earlier that it may be Osama Bin Laden's "virgin tally" reward in his paradise. I googled tally to make sureit meant a number count and got "tallywhacker" with the definition alluding to a certain part on the male anatomy. Funny! You have to be careful with internet searches. LOL!!!

The Israeli/Iranian conflict???!!! Thanks for reminding me about that. I'm not so sure if that whole thing about those Ahmadinejad comments were a misunderstanding or if they were purposely taken out of context to make the American public Anti-Iran. He said something to the effect of what was called "wiping" out Israel. I think that maybe he may have really meant a re-mapping of land and not a destruction of the Jewish people. But I could be wrong. If threatened, Israel definitely does have the right to defend themselves at all costs without seeking America's approval firsthand. I am amazed at this whole situation. Not just the Iran thing. But down through the ages. The Jews just want a little piece of land. The Arabs have all the rest. Why can't they just be content with one another?

Survival? Israel and Iran. You worried about Armageddon? Funny thing. I'm not ready supply wise. And I really believe that weather could be a future issue of Biblical Proportions. Then there are the earthquakes. The famines. The pestilences. And world leaders taking advantgage of it all by grouping the whole world into a one world government. Sounds like the makings for a good movie. How about "South Park: They Can't Kill Kenny"?

No. I do not. But it is probaly only a matter of time, seeing how huge and far reaching it has become. It would be nice to socialize with you and lastoutlaw there when, and if, I do.

Faceplant! Funny outlaw! I actually have faceplanted myself at least once. As a kid, I was with a childhood friend on our bikes. We went over a hill or something. I never knew or forgot to pull UP on the handlebars. A bloody mess was I. My face that is. I went to my friend's home. My friend's Mom was shocked to say the least. Took a wash rag (call it washcloth if you want - LOL!) and cleaned me up. I lived a rough adventurous childhood. You probaly wouldn't know that if you saw me now.

Funny things. Remember the South Park episode of the lonely boy who had no friends on Facebook until Kyle came into his world and changed all that? My Grandmother once called it "Footbook".

I know they are pushing one billion members and recently went into the stock market and require a full name and now require users to have a direct email account with them (example: stan&kyle@facebook.com).

I am surprised that Topix is not bigger than Facebook. I have pondered if Topix will begin their own email accounts and require full names for registered users. As it stands right now, to sign up and be a greenie, a user only has to give an email (example: lastoutlaw@yahoo!.com) and not even a name is required.

I guess they require a face. Oh shoot! Sorry, Invisible Man and Invisible Woman. It just isn't your day. Well, at least you can be yourselves on Topix. HA!

Wow! From 2 For and 15 Against to 93 For and 15 Against in under 60 minutes?! Do you suppose that these are the changing times we are living in? You know that Obama recently "came out" for Gay Marriage. Votes? Or do you suppose that Topix users are increasingly becoming more inclined to tiptoe through the tulips instead of walking across the nails?

And have you ever wondered why pencil erasers have traditionally been a soft "pink" and the shaft a hard "yellow"? That's irrelevant to this post. Just curious. The colors. Maybe it was cheaper to use those colors.

<quoted text>A total wipe is automatic when you do a reinstall from the discs. As I recall from my work this weekend (don't know about your system; each manufacturer is different), you have the option of 'System Restore From Disc' or 'Install From Disc'. The restore will 'save' some stuff into a custom folder and reinstall a new Operating System. It's a pain to get the stuff it saved afterwards because you generally can't use those programs; you'd have to reinstall THEM.
So. Use the 'Install From Disc'. When you click on it; you'll get a warning that it will completely remove all files and programs from your computer and reinstall the operating system to the factory (the disc) installed programs.
In other words - it wipes the disc (drive). Total wipe.
Automatic Update - when you click onto the Windows Update link in the Control Panel options, it will open the website from Microsoft which allows you to activate the updates required for your computer. On that site; it will as you if you want to activate Automatic Update. Click yes.
With your Antivirus software; you get this on the opening screen, near the 'Start Scan Now' buttons and options. Click yes. You can also choose what time and how often per week; but right now, just turn them on. Once you're back up and running; aske me again and we'll get more detailed.
Good luck. It's not as hard as it seems.

This is probaly nothing, and I hate to bring it up, but with past issues and with what we are assuming may be the possibility of Topix being hacked lately...

Today Aug. 21, 2012 a little while ago on this thread, Internet Explorer blocked a pop-up from tag.ameld.com site. I went to the Hillsboro, OH Forum and entered a thread and MY computer jumped to myspace.com and a ad for Trojan condoms was playing. I looked into my internet history and it has myspace.com listed. In fact, http://www.myspace.com/intgd/splash.html is where it goes to according to my internet history.

If you recall, before it went down, the old used Dell jumped to other sites involuntarily and my relative's HP laptop had issues of jumping to various sites.

It was on my computer, on July 9, 2012 that I experienced an intrusion attempt by worldnetscapess.net with a Wrb Attack: Malicious Toolkit Website 14 which was blocked by the security product on MY computer. The source address was 91.229.210.195 and, in my lookup, turned out to be Russia. Internet Explorer blocked a pop-up from ar.voicefive.com several times.

I'm going to run a Quick Scan and see if something turns up. A Full one might be in order. And it wouldn't hurt to delete internet history and cookies.

Upon further investigation of www.myspace.com/intgd/splash.html it appears to be SAFE and is a "Skip Ad Advertisement: Check out the refreshed" process which displays ...

QUOTE
"Skip Ad. Advertisement: Check out the refreshed MySpace.com . Redirecting Back to Content in: 10 seconds."
UNQUOTE

... and then it takes you back to the website you were currently on before the jump took place, which in this case is topix.com .

So, maybe this is something Topix could be doing now with more advertisements for the user. Pulling us away to another site for an ad and then bringing us back. I don't know.

Has anyone else experienced anything besides me lately?

I'm sure there was PROBALY NOTHING to the 'myspace redirection incident' yesterday.

Oh. And definitely NOT blaming Topix for anything.

What I think may have happened was this. Whenever I hover over something with the Touchpad (don't use a Mouse yet), or if the curser is positioned over something, MY computer -- FOR WHATEVER REASON -- has the tendency to AUTOMATICALLY CLICK on an option. Perhaps, I did not see a myspace.com ad on the screen and MY computer automatically clicked it. If there was a myspace ad there. I don't know if Topix allows ads promoting other competing social networks. Do you guys ever have Touchpad curser issues?

But I may have over-reacted. And why not? Based on the site jumping and Malware Protection and Blue Screen Of Death issues the old used Dell desktop and my relative's HP laptop suffered last year. And the troubles my relative's computer endured.

Quick Scan with security product scanned commonly infected areas and start-up files and whatever else it may do when it does its thing and found nothing that I can tell other than Tracking Cookies. However, it lets me know a lot when it feels the need to go outdoors (like some people's pet dogs) and announces that it -- the computer --"Needs Attention" through a quickie (Quick Scan). Seems a bit obsessive on "eating" the Tracking Cookies for me. Of which, I am not complaining one bit. Doesn't seem to delete Topix cookies though. But I think it may have placed items in the past and perhaps yesterday in a 'Quarantine' folder but I don't know how to access it yet. I did not run a Full one yet. I did not delete Internet Browsing History yet either.

I'm not a myspace member by the way. And I'm NOT trying to accuse myspace of anything malicious.

Oh guys. Noticed over 800 on the LA Forum a little while ago when I came on. Little to none posting activity. I wonder if Topix REALLY has been 'hacked'. Or maybe just a 'glitch' in the clockwork of the posting system. BUT if they have truly been hacked, perhaps people are bumping users' web browsers around (i.e. jumping them to other sites). Yesterday, I also mentioned that maybe Topix is introducing a new method of advertising -- redirection, show ad, and return. I'm coining the phrase "quantum leap marketing".

Got some upcoming questions for lastoutlaw regarding past posts.

And perhaps I need to clear up some things for at least my benefit regarding this thread.

1.) The title of this thread.

Some are probaly OFFENDED just by seeing the title questioning if Obama was born in America. That, by the way, was never intended to be any political attack on the President or anyone else for that matter. At the time, it was a legitimate concern floating around the news media and people, by the millions, wanted to know if THEIR -- OUR -- MINE -- YOUR President was really a U.S. citizen or not. Evidently, he himself (the President) took it so serious that he felt the need to release his long-form birth certificate. That happened AFTER this thread was started. If he had released it sooner, I probaly would never have even thought of starting this thread. So, enough said. I never did this based on race. My siblings are married to colors opposite of what they are and I am proud to have nephews and nieces that express that mixture. I am not prejudice. I would have questioned ANY of the Presidents on this -- whatever color. Black, Red, Yellow, White. Regardless of how anyone feels about Barack Hussein Obama he is OUR President-elect and may be for a 2nd term as well. I highly respect the office of the Presidency. I love America. I am thankful, for the freedoms we have and thank all those veterans who have fought in wars and conflicts to keep us secure. And I, just as any other God fearing American, have every right to exercise my freedom of speech on key important issues of the day. And Topix, thank goodness, has provided us all with a platform to do so. We should be able to comment and debate such isssues in a cival manner that hopefully will lead to positive results in our understandings of one another. And note that I never said that he wasn't born in the U.S. of America. I only questioned.

2.) WHY ARE WE TALKING COMPUTER TECH STUFF on a political thread?

This thread was, by chance, the thread that I just happened to communicate with lastoutlaw and Stan and Kyle on my computer troubles with the old used Dell desktop. If I recall, it was S&K that asked me where I had been lately and I brought up the computer issues that gradually became worse as we posted. I did not have the discs that came with the computer. They tried to help me recover it from the troubles and malware that was on it. It was having trouble with the security product on it. It had Internet connection troubles. It kept jumping to other websites. It got infected with "Malware Protection" which is a fake security product that takes control over a computer. It 'crashed' and went to a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death). And we never could get it back. It's gone.

Malware Protection infected over half a million computers last year worldwide.

My relative's computer, an HP laptop, new when she got it, also had jumping-to-site issues and got Malware Protection but the security team she had subscribed to (iYogi which is a Indian-based company) fixed her up. She's not with them now due to cost and her computer later crashing and not recovering while they were on it live online trying to fix some of her troubles. They had put McAfee Total Protection on hers but it wasn't working right or something. Hers is still down. By the way, the free Malwarebytes Anti-Malware ran in Safe Mode may heal your computer of Malware Protection.

Now, I'm on MY own new computer. Not used. Began posting with it late June. While on Topix, got hit with the attack mentioned a few posts back. "Web Attack: Malicious Toolkit Website 14". Sounds like something very malicious. Maybe a rootkit. Maybe something that maybe would've destroyed MY computer from the inside out IF I had not had a good security product running onit that blocked that intrusion attempt.

So, I thought it was only fitting that this thread should be the one I let Stan and Kyle and lastoutlaw, who were waiting for me to inform them after all this time, know about getting MY "own" computer.

Just came on for a quick look. A looksie. Look, see. Loooook. Seeeee. Are you feeling hypnotized yet? LOL! Looksie may actually be the name of a town or city somewhere. Wasn't going to post but noticed something.

The user account about 60. That's more normal looking.

BUT NOTICED I got a "502 Bad Gateway" on-screen message. Didn't know what that was. Searched it. Thanks, Google. Apparantly, it's a problem with a website's communication with its servers. And could also be a problem with the user's ISP (Internet Service Provider). From what I learned, in the search, it should clear up in a matter of a few hours.

Perhaps that explains the astronomical number of users we've been seeing on here. Numbers high in the hundreds. Since, at least 3 of us (S&K, outlaw, AC) have gone on "posting record" and therefore have been "socially documented" as seeing it, I would say it's on Topix's end. UNLESS all 3 of us have the same ISP?! Hmmmmm.

Hey, looks like the 2012 RNC (Republican National Convention) in Florida may have to be canceled or postponed or something. Hurricane bigger than the state of Texas forecasted to make landfall at the time of the convention's scheduled start NEXT WEEK!!! S&K, what's up? Could it be Al Gore and the Weather Machine?!

No. But since Biden plans on crashing the convention; perhaps it's nature's (Or God's, or Buddah's or what have you) way of saying 'America Has Suffered Enough! Let My People GO!'
Yup. A hurricane sent by Karma to take out Joe Biden. Allah's message to Obama?
A sign of the end days? For him? A sign of deliverance for America?
What if what I were saying was real? Wouldn't that be something?
They say there are no atheists in foxholes. There aren't any in hurricanes either. The entire Godless Socialist Liberal movement gains religion real quick when their lives are in danger.
It's funny, really. Tragic to the innocents. Poetic justice to the guilty.
Perhaps Al Gore ought to be there to witness it. More proof of Global Warming; er -'Climate Change'. He can gain information first hand; practice being a scientist for real for once instead of parroting the words of those on his payroll.
After all, true science involves true dedication and a willingness and devotion to immerse oneself into the beliefs they support.
Just ask Madame Curie.
Oh, we can't.
Died of radiation poisoning. Not pretty.
But a death for her science.
Please, let Al 'The Bore' Gore follow in her noble (NOBEL) footsteps. Earn that prize that he was given. Sacrifice for the cause.
Done.
