-It is far from the best school in San Bernardino, it may have the best campus because it is only 6 years old, however, the students are horrible!! The school is located in a terrible neighborhood and there are multiple fights every day as well as guns going off on the other side of the schools chain linked fence (where the projects are located)...this doesn't surprise me at all!

Well it shows you know the area but not the kids. I have worked at that very school since it opened and I know more about the kids that go there than you do. Yes there are problems in the area that’s no secret. But the fact is out of 3300+ kids maybe 40 to 50 are a problem. And the biggest problem of all is the director of youth services and his panel the people who can say “you’re a problem kid so you’re out of here.” They have money as there guide not the safety of the kids and staff and that leads to a huge problem. They need more police and security; if the community would just let them do their job we would have a lot less problems. But hay I am only a teacher what do I know.

I wholeheartedly agree.Do schoolboard members work for free? Do they ever take pay-cuts in order to save after-school programs that keep kids off the street like arts, music and sports from budget cuts ? I think, while board officials should still be elected and subject to background checks, they should serve on a strictly volunteer basis .Only then shall we see some major changes in our schools !

I could not have said it better myself. Mel is the one who tried to take money from the security guards after they were given a well needed rise. From what I heard he sent all kinds of letters to their homes and saying they had to pay it back and that the district will get their money all without the approval of the union. He is an idiot simply put for a simple man.

You must be some kind of racist, obviously! You shouldn't spend time posting crap comments like "rats" Do you even know the situation, were you there? Oh, sorry you must be ignorant to say such things. The News always says gang related to make it 'acceptable' in many cases to not make people want to question further. Please don't make an ASS of yourself...OH too late. An what if it was your family would you still be talking shit? You must be a dam rat!

sammantha what year did you grad. Because I have been there for all of them, also to you sb girl you have to know that so much does happen in the area around the school but, were you safe on the campus, or were you hurt? And if anything happened to you or around you did you stop and help or just watch. Just name two things you as individuals did to help the school or fix what was happening? Or can you?

i have attended arroyo valley for the last 4 years i will be graduating this year.i know for a fact that there had not been that many problems at school any more. the fights had baecome less and things were getting better. it is sad that after all the good things that have come from these school all we can see is the bad. i dont blame the school for what happend.everione has a different way of thinking and the people that chose to get into problems they know what there getting in to because they have made that choise and dont get me wrong im not saing anyone deservers it but they sertantly knew it could happen.i think that ther should be more police around the campus, because sometimes it seems like the police is too afraid to come all the way trough what many call a bad neighborhood. however if the police wont protect the students when ther walking home ther is nothing the securite gurds at school can do.the school is save and if you dont go to that school you have no buseness saing is horrible. oh yeah one more thing the horrible students that you were speaking about well im srry to tell you but every school has students that are bad but they also have many that are good.
