I don't know the details of what happened, I arrived after the police. I can tell you that the behavior of the "friends" of the victims was horrible. First, most of the males were under the influence. Second, Gang Related? I don't know, but several of the "friends" had their shirts off with "BASTARD" tatooed on their backs. Finally, several of the "friends" were verbally going after the police. Cursing them up and down, why? What did the police doto them. I have to hand it to the LAPD, they kept their cool under some difficult conditions from the "friends". I don't know about the victims, but those that were left behind were not some of Pedro's finest!
Ok witness....I keep getting back on here because it irritates me that people judge. Number 1, I was on that bus with the victims so I personally experienced and saw the entire thing. Number 2, you are right about something, you arrived AFTER the police did, so you know nothing about how long it took to get someone to respond to the incident and the emotion that was running through people and the brothers that had to watch their older brother expire without any assistance when he needed it most. Who gives a damn about a tatoo no matter what it said, whether it was "BASTARD" or whatever. What in the heck does that have to do with the actual victims? Shirts were on when all this happened, so did you think that the people in the white van saw straight through what they were wearing and give them a justifiable reason to do all this. And by the way, the victims themselves, didn't even have tatoos!!! Maybe you should leave the detective work and spectating to the people who did the investigating, watching of videos and did the reporting ON THE NEWS, that it wasn't gang related!!!! We all have our own ways of dealing with death and anger. Whether it be sad, mad at the world, or whatever. I am not going to sit here and say that you were wrong and that nobody said anything they shouldn't have, however "witness" you obviously weren't anywhere around when we even apologized for the actions and words of others...because we all were feeling soooo much REALLY witnessing the whole entire thing, which you didn't. The cops said themselves to us, it is understandable the anger that they were dealing with. Was it their fault, no, it wasn't. But try putting yourself in the other victims' position. You would rather see cops out looking for the suspect than in your face right at that moment. Yes, they were doing their job, and they did keep their cool, but do you really think it is the first time they have dealt with death and the different emotions that people have to deal with? I would love for you to be "one of pedro's finest" if your brother was killed in your face. You people really need to get a grip on reality which is something that I had a slap in the face with the other night by going through all of it first hand. Leave the crap talking to personal e-mails and quit judging others and quit trying to act like you would handle things any better. It was a vicious attack and regardless of the bad mouthing, EVERYONE has a right to mourn, regardless of race, age, sex, religion, or "tatoos" on their back.

the more pedro tries to change for the better, the more it stays the same lousy place to live. Enjoy the crime and murder. Happy New Year.

.... mourn in private without ranting about it here. Nice group of people you speak so proudly of. Just the kind I would like my daughter to marry one day. How about you?

You know what, people like you that judge others, probably missed out on some pretty great people. I am proud to say that these people are my friends. They all have very good qualities in them. But, like I said before, put yourself in their shoes and try to be "one of pedro's finest". The incident didn't happen in private and had it happened that way, it probably would have been different. but it wasn't and it is what it is. And don't be so quick to talk about the type of guy you want your daughter to marry, cause if she comes home with one of them you will eat your words when she looks past a freakin tattoo!

Is this the sort of violence that it's going to take to get our officers back? LAPD Harbor is overwhelmed; we need to get things under control and we can't do it with the police stretched as thinly as they are.

its a sad state of affairs when the police show up to assist and help and are attacked by the victims friends. If it took the police a while to get there is was probably because they were in Wilington trying to protect the citizens from the brothers over there!!

Yes, Carlos we should have known you were a 1/2 ass!! Its a shame, just what the fuck were your Parents thinking when you were concieved (you make it so evident)that they weren't. Its ILLEGALS that produce products such as yourself. And I suggest you quit taking out your "Background" anger on the world.

Oh, and by the way, that area is where you buy your heroin, and it's awfully close to all the public housing.
Well, that kind of says it all doesn't it?
And as for you VICB3, you seem awfully familiar with the area, NOW THAT SAYS IT ALL!! Thank you for sharing, LoL.

I'm a lifelong resident of this beautiful but sometimes violent City of San Pedro. Over the years I've heard the criticism of the police department and the lack of presence in the Harbor Area. LAPD is a fine police department, but stretched way too thin. It's truly time for either San Pedro or both (Wilmington) to break away from the grips of Los Angeles and form their own local government, police department, fire department, etc. We have the port as a great tax base and other companies. The port alone will provide the funding to that we can all improve our quality of life. Honestly, why can't we have a police department like what's currently in Torrance. I can guarantee you that a similar independent municipal police department would make all of our lives safer and better. Chief Bratton and Mayor Villaraigosa can say all they want, but all we get here are band-aids. We deserve better, don't we?

It's easy to have a police department like Torrance -here's how:
Generate unified public support of police
Pay them like Torrance pays them - give them the same benefit package
Don't nickel and dime them with frivolous complaints
Tell the the federal judge to take his consent decree and shove it
Get Hahn to admit that SP has a gang problem and file a gang injunction against RSP, Dodge city, BF, YC and all of the other losers that take pride in calling San Pedro "their own"

Things happen. Fights can escalate and then rage takes over. As far as throwing the Illegal deal into it, I think the first person to write about it is the type of person that molests collies.

Obviously you are not from Pedro. You're confusing the store with the one on First and Gaffey.
