L.A.P.D. is useless when it comes down to investigating these types of crimes. My wife was a victim to a purse thief at a local San Pedro store last November. The store had excellent video of the thief, after a home interview by a detective we heard nothing else ever. We reported the cards as stolen to our bank, as one the bank card was used the very day of the theft at a local gas station in Wilmington. I did my own investigation by going to the gas station asking if they had serveylance cameras which they did however they would not let me see them and that I needed to tell this to the L.A.P.D. which I did. I called the detective in handling the case and told him of my investigation. needless to say the gas station removes the recording after 5 days and the detectives never followed up on my call. I feel had they at least looked at the tape they could have id the crook by comparing him to the video at the store. Lazy lazy lazy, the only good of police report was that my bank reimbursed my loss.
