one of the teens who died was my cousin, and to bypass every little mistake you made in your comment such as your race argument the: "By the way 'mexican' is not a race. It's a nationality." That is true but to even argue race exists would have been the argument of an intellectual, all you did was prove your an intolerant pig, nothing short of a Racist (the term you say has no meaning, it does towards people like you)

We're almost in 2009, and it baffles me - how we still have ignorant people in the world. Comments about how it comes as no surprise that she was pregnant; that he was speeding due to the fact that Mexican men are "machistas", or "thank god they were mexican" - REALLY?!?!? Check yourself - is that brain of yours functioning?
Two people died, two people I knew and loved deeply.
For your information - Kathy was not mexican, she was guatemalan - not all hispanic people are mexican; just as not all asian people are chinese & so forth.
It's quite sad that the people leaving nasty comments have nothing better to do then to talk trash about two deceased !HUMAN BEINGS!
They were two great people, and regardless of who was speeding, how they died, whose fault it was - there are two families this christmas season that instead of celebrating - are mourning the deaths of their children.
All those ignorant people leaving the RIDICULOUS racist comments are the reason why the world is the way it is. We're al human beings, we're all friends, brothers, sister, mothers, fathers, boyfriends, girlfriends, aunts, uncles, etc.
Let's try and remember that!
& R.I.P - brian, kathy you're missed dearly. & I will love you guys for all of eternity. <3

I knew the girl driving and she was not a bad person. If anything she was just your regular teenager living life and learning new things. Why they were going so fast...no one will ever know because none of us were there and none of us know what was going through their heads at that moment in time. What happened was a tragedy and ended the life of 2 more people. If it was your sister, mother, father, daughter, son, or significant other I bet none of you would find it funny or amusing to be speaking about them in the way that some are. Have some respect. No one deserves to die at such a young age no matter the circumstances...none of us can be the judge of that. So many people drive fast in the street and freeways now its very dangerous for everyone. But talking about people that dead in a negative way doesnt make anyone better. It's a sad tragedy that the families now have to live through but please don't be rude just because they can't be here to defend themselves or give a reason to why it happened. Remember that karma comes and goes around...i would hate to think that those you are speaking negative about them when they weren't there at all would have to pay with one of their loved ones for the actions and words now.
Rest In Peace Kathleen Recinos & Brian Martinez
(it doesnt matter what race anyone is because very race in the us had committed one crime or another...it doesnt make us any different..it just makes us all the same...humans who make mistakes!)

Very True respect is needed for the dead as well as the living. Brian Martinez did not respect his life or the life’s of the citizens of Northridge. I like the entry describing the crash seen and the victims of Brian Martinez's Fatal attempt to race Tampa Blvd. Everyone needs to see what I saw that night as a wake up call to respect the laws of physics. Matter can not pass thru another matter element. The parents need to now the truth to what happened that night. One article says she died at the hospital, no she did not sorry. She was died in the passenger seat. Every piece of glass was broken on that vehicle. Brian was driving not Kathleen. Brian sided sideways into on coming traffic. Driving a car should be taken seriously as learning weapons training (shooting). Same goes for motorcycles my son learned good lesson driving go karts as a teenager had a few and learned to respect the laws of speed and friction coefficient. Brains Parents need to read this blog for what it is. Maybe they have other children and need to be trained and have discipline. Northridge is a good area and the people of that area not need the Van Nuys South of the 405 Freeway Young youth endangering us. I don't go into Van Nuys speeding and endangering their people. I Blame this on the parents for buying this car that was way to fast for Brian's Level of driving and respect to the road and the good citizens of Northridge. The victims in the white care well be damaged for the rest of their lives. Good luck coming back on to the roads

Hello George,

According to the Daily News Article:

"Kathleen Recinos, 18, of Panorama City, was driving over the speed limit on Tampa Avenue, according to witness reports, when her car hit several other vehicles driving in the same direction near Superior Street about 6:45 p.m. Friday, said a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department. Recinos was pronounced dead at the scene."

I wonder what the driver's immigration status is, or at least the immigration status of the parents and whether they in the country legally?

My empathy goes out to these kids family and friends, first and foremost, because it is, after all, a loss for them. As a result of the loss, I'm sure that many members of the family or the friends of the deceased have conflicting feelings/emotions/thoughts/den ial about what happened or, more importantly, why it happened. In the midst of the commotion, one still has to have some clear thoughts or perspective about it and the reality is that, unfortunately, one of these kids was negligent in their driving and it is what caused the accident. One cannnot dispute the validity of the report of a crime scene investigation and say that none of it is true because they are currently grieving and fail to see the truth in what actually happened.

The reason I write this is because it's not fair for the other individuals, like one of my family members, who was involved in this accident. Needing to be hospitalized, having to deal with the insurance company, having some psychological trauma occur because of the experience, what was seen at the accident, etc, etc, etc all because of the negligence of two teenagers that were speeding down a busy street. Was it a sense of entitlement that made these two assume it was okay to do? I'm not sure but one thing is for sure, everyone must learn from this to know that failure to be responsible or safe, inadvertently affects everyone.

Again, my condolences go out the family. But please, do not demand respect or assume we all have to feel sorry for you because this affected many, many other people, not just you and yours.

I am one of the few people in this forum who actually had a family member be affected by this accident and to see what they went through upset me and gives me more reason to be angry; however, I would NEVER make race, these kids marital status or pregnancy status an issue because it has absolutely NOTHING to do with what happenned.

Please, refrain from using such incidents as a tool to fuel your rage against your own issues or bigotry, and focus on what is important:
to learn from this incident, to teach younger drivers the importance of obeying the law, and responsible driving habits to prevent something like this to happen to you or others.

Seven years ago, my good friend's 10 year old son was killed by a speeder in front of his own house in the same neighborhood. Does it make a difference that the killer was a 19 y.o. Mexican? At the time...No. The poor child was dead and nothing else mattered. But now, 7 years later, MOST of these tragedies I read about are caused by Mexicans...and it DOES matter!
I have since learned that it's a cultural thing with Mexicans...a Machissmo thing! In Mexico, driving drunk, etc. is a sign of Machissmo! Being in a gang is a cultural thing with Mexicans...it's the Machissmo thing! And SPEEDING seems to be a cultural Mexican thing! Showing off!!!
A third world culture can NEVER be assimilated into the first world culture of the US! You can't put a square peg into a round hole!
I have become very anti-Mexican, even hateful at times, because they are destroying our once law-abiding society with their lack of responsibility and their feral, primitive cultural traits! It's in their DNA!
Americans are getting fed up with third worlders from Mexico and their anchor baby spawns! It's a living nightmare!
he was not mexican if you are so smart you should know that not all latinos are mexicans bottom point usa would not be anything w/out the latinos

Yes I know that place on Parthenia called 'little TJ' quite well since I lived right down the street from it at the time. It was the center of crime in the West Valley back then. That was before they finally put up fences around it and guards at the entrances to try to contain all those feral animals and stop all the driveby shootings.
Back in those days I would listen to the police scanner and it was unbelievable the amount of robberies, assaults, purse snatching, muggings, stolen cars, shootings, ect...you know, all those things that Mexicans have so much fun doing, that were comming from those projects.
You are having so much fun calling everyone a 'racist' on this thread that doesn't see things the way you do that the word is losing it's meaning. Have you ever thought that the reason people have such a low opinion of Mexicans could be because of their behavior...not their race. By the way 'mexican' is not a race. It's a nationality.
Oh yes, to get back 'on topic' to satisfy your autocratic needs, I have little concern for those two morons who caused this wreck through their irresponsible behavior. The concern I have is for the innocent people hurt by them and all those put in harms way by them.
the biggest moron here is you for talking your crap this 2 great kids died in an ACCIDENT do u know the meaning of ACCIDENT

OMG, that's another strike against Mexicans...all they do is spawn more illiterate, irresponsible anchor brats! How totally irresponsible of this girl to burden our society with another Mexican welfare case! It's SICKENING!
I have nothing against Mexicans or any other ethnicity...but Mexicans belong in Mexico! Let them do whatever the heck they want as long as it's not in the USA! Mexicans have far surpassed critical mass in the country, and there will be a bloody revolution in the streets...believe it! Americans are only tolerant up to a certain point, and it only takes incidents like this killer on wheels to spark a riot!
Americans are FED UP! We have pride of ownership in our country...and these third worlders have destroyed the entire infrastructure in every town they occupy! Get rid of these squatters!
FOR UR INFORMATION SHE WAS NOT MEXICAN plus she worked and went to college so did he Kathy would never go on WELFARE never plus U.S would not be anything w/out mexicans central n south Americans we the latinos are the one who brought the united states up so dont be ignorant

I was at the crash site just a block away when it happened. I'm still in shock from what I've seen. Brian was in the back seat laying down blood coming out from his mouth and gurguling. Not breathing but had a heart beat. Kathleen was in the passanger seat. Her head was twisted 180° blood every where (Fatal). Brian was transported to the hospital and pasted on. The girl was cut out of the car and the corner took here body. To me it looks like Brian was driving w/ no seat belt of course when his car fish tailed onto opposing traffic after trying to correct his vehicle from hitting the Van. The car collided passenger side Door frame (center impact point) on to a moving vehicle going 40 Mph (Mid point of the block) direct frontal impact to the White car two occupants. the Engine of the car was almost pushed into the drivers compartment and yes both of them had seat belts on. Brians body was ejected from the driver seat into Kathleen's body at ~ 60MPH damping his impact as the side air bags deployed. Then bouncing into the rear seat compartment. This is why all the witnesses says Kathleen was driving. That makes the imapct speed to be ~100MPH w/ the car traveling south at 40mph and Brian's car traveling North 60mph.
George are you sure about this plz this is very important to us if u really were there and witness it plz give me a way to contact you plz its really important to us to know what really happen plz im begging you I need to know its been killing us to find out what happen that night with Kathy n Brian GOd will bless u if u help us

Don't try and argue with these people, they blame Hispanics for everything. When that dosn't work its city or goverment workers who are at fault. I'm sorry for your loss..........This was a horrible accident caused by a teenaged driver, maybe something positive can come from this.
