Based on comments I have read, and a experience myself in which I came under question from another poster, there is a possibility that Topix may be trying to identify paid posters sent in from outside sources.

If so, Topix may be confusing these paid posters with us real posters.

So, let's post our user name and let topix.com know that we are not being paid to post but post because we love Topix.

REAL POSTERS DO IT FREE!!!

"BeulahatKmart", if I may use your above example about Kmart.

Obviously, there is nothing wrong with you making posts or threads in review about how much you like a service or product or place or experience. You would be a free poster -- a poster who is not paid to post.

However, it would be a whole other matter if Kmart was paying you to come on Topix and make daily posts and threads endorsing Kmart. You would be a paid poster -- a poster who is paid to post. And this is the sort of poster that Topix may be trying to root out.

But the confusion can be in Topix thinking that a poster who makes a lot of posts or/and threads on a certain subject is being paid to come on Topix and do it, when in fact they are just doing it for free. So, there can be a thin line between a paid poster and a free poster.

See what I mean?

Honor system. What do you mean?

And I'm not sure if I asked you before if you were talking about posters being paid by outside sources or if you were talking about posters being paid by Topix?

Because there may be posters that Topix itself is paying to post on forums. Maybe like sticking to certain subjects. Like the sports forums. Maybe even making provocative posts to encourage users to participate. I'd hate to think though that some of those provocative methods would include Topix approved negative trolling with nasty or mean commments that end up in offending some users who in turn may leave Topix. Of course, if Topix itself is paying posters, that is none of our business. It is Topix's site and they run it. But I would like to know if the post I'm reading or the poster I'm posting with is a real poster and not a paid poster spinning out scripted talking points. Wouldn't you?

However, this thread is addressing outside sources paying posters. But it is open to discuss insiders as well.

I wish I was paid, I could use the bucks.

I post for free. And you know what they say - you get what you pay for.

I don't get paid.

That pretty much sums it up.

How's it going, AC?

I see. So, you do work for Topix but you post on your own time. Is that how it works? Are you a regular moderator or what they call a Top Mod (TM)? LOL!!! Seriously, a job at Topix must be awesome.

That whole thing brought up about paid posters made me think that maybe social sites also have hired hands themselves ... literally hired hands typing away.

If it's something Topix does, I'm surprised they haven't approached you yet with the sudden job opportunity.

I'm hanging in there. Things could be a lot better. Although I don't have his money, I'm probaly feeling better right now than Mitt Romney in a presidential election against Barack Obama. LOL!!! Yourself? 12/21/12 is fast approaching.

I was thinking how a thread called "Sign Here ... If You ARE A Paid Poster" would go over?
