Old people rule...however, they should NEVER be allowed to drive. This is an old story, just different people. There are FEW exceptions where an elderly person can still handle the responsibility, but not enough to make good for the rest, because they just suck at driving.
How much you wanna bet that old broad will get her car fixed and be driving by next month?

My step dad was 84 years old. His driving was going and I reported him to the DMV. They did nothing. He kept going over curbs, running into the garage, forgetting he was in reverse... I refused to drive with him. One day there was a woman and kid crossing the street. He meant to stop for them, mixed up the accelerator for the brake. At least he swerved away from the mom and kid but he ran into a gas station. He injured his head, ended up in a nursing home then killed himself by refusing food and water. He even pulled the tubes out of his nose. I wish I could have forced him not to drive but he was so stubborn..."I've been driving for over 70 years!"

god bless them all. Someone should check the elder's driving ability. it's Unfortunate these things start to happen. Remember Santa Monica's farmers market incident.

Part of the problem is the kids are to "busy" to check out what is going on.They forget these are the people who put up with them and now it is time to check on them.If you are lucky enough to still have living parents, check on them, nothing you are doing is more important.

Most of this can be blamed on the DMV, and the stupid people that run it! When was the last time you were there........I felt like I was in a foreign country. When I was finally called I had to ask the person to please repeat herself three time before I could understand what she was saying. It's these people that have the power to grant or not grant a renewal! My father in law had a single car accident where the jaws of life were needed to get him out...he was 80 and the DMV gave his license back ! Then he hit another car, we told DMV not to give it back and they did! This last time he hit a car in the canyon and wound up in in the ICU for over 4 weeks. No renewal this time! But it took a near fatal accident before the stupid DMV finally GOT IT!!! Too many people on the street that don't even speak or read English and then are given the right to drive. WHY????

Stupid drivers changing lanes on a whim, changing lanes at the last second before exiting the freeway, mistaking a gas pedal for a brake pedal, and so forth and so on.

I bet the driver was a senior citizen, because the chief cause of their mishap is mistaking the accelerator for a brake pedal.

After a certain age, you should be required to take a physcial and mental evalutation. After all, pilots, railroad and truck drivers do, at least the physcial part!

Sure, the old woman should get the lion's share of the blame, but who in their right mind would let a child stand in front of a moving car? Even if the car is almost stopped, it is still a really bad idea.

Again? There was another elderly driver incident in La Mirada 10/30/09. She also thought she was stepping on the brakes as she plowed through a restaurant injuring six.

@get a life...I was wondering how long it would take someone in this forum to somehow find a way to turn this tragedy into something racial. Congrats! You are the winner!

If you wear a diaper then you shoudn't drive. If you don't remember getting in the car you shouldn't drive.

Daily Horoscope for December 18

Aries

You'll be in a better position to get on well with someone who has power or authority over you. This might be your boss, some other authority figure, a friend you really respect or an older relative. Maybe you should chat up your superiors at the office Christmas party... or make more of an effort to understand what makes a certain person tick.
