So very sad. But until this gang culture is addressed within these communities, nothing will change. That, along with all these babies being born to young parents, out of wedlock. There used to be a stronger family structure within the Hispanic communities. But more and more, babies are being born into dangerous environments, often times with gang members as the fathers. There is nothing society can do until responsibility is taken within these neighborhoods. God Bless this little angel. Thoughts and prayers to all involved.

DN you are scraping the bottom of the barrel again! This is old NEWS, in fact it was old News about a day after it happened. There's nothing new here, no great insight into the reasons why. Just stupid dumb young kids that have children and are no where near ready to do so! Gangs and gang life. Am sorry this baby died..but am glad he will not have to grow up into a family ( if you can call it that, not married ) of gang life. What a waste. 18 years old and morning like she is....go get a job and drag yourself out the the crap hole you live in! Then maybe if you have another child, this one legitament, you'll think twice about having a baby out so late at night! Stupid...just plain stupid. I don't feel sorry for stupidity.

Not quite.

This is a 'human interest' story, one meant to pull at your heartstrings.

Such loving, caring parents.

Such a tragic loss, eh?

They were such 'loving, caring parents' that they placed their kid in harms way.

If their kid didn't die that night,
they would have continued their lifestyle until this tragedy occurred.

It's an inevitable conclusion when young gangbangers crank out kids.

The poor mommy and grandma adored the kid like a babydoll,
but if they really CARED about him,
they wouldn't have allowed him to be placed in a position to be killed.

Citizens should be free to visit friends at any time
without the fear of being accosted by gang members carrying weapons.

But when 'daddy' is a gangbanger, what do you expect?

A tragic outcome which could have been prevented if the 'parents'
were more than ignorant boars and sows.

In fact, the sows are more protective of their piglets
than this so-called "mother" ever could hope to be.

Such is life in 'La Ciudad de Sanctuario', Los Angeles, the 'Lunatic Asylum', LA.

And what's up with her holding the kid's photo in front of her face.

Is she ashamed?

Perhaps she'll be identified?

The Jesus picture and crucifix tell of her religious beliefs.

Seems a lot of these criminals are 'God-fearing':
They have crosses around their necks,
crucifix and saint tattoos on their bodies,
Guadalupe decals on their vehicles,
"Jesus es Dios" bumper stickers,
and little plastic statues on their dashboards.

As if their life in the 'afterlife' will be better for it?

While they're leading a criminal life?

Hypocrites.

These individuals are members of the local gang, Barrio Van Nuys (BVN aka Bananas). Every person mention in that article has or is associated with BVN. It is a criminal element that has infested our community in Van Nuys. The mother and girl cousin are know hoodrats that were placed on this earth to reproduced more rats. The husband and the other mentioned male member are known gangbangers. So, what has happen to this family should come as no surprise to them or the local community.
At least now, the baby will not have to get "jumped in" to the gang life of the so called parents. The parents will not have to be going to visit there dead infant at the Sylmar Juvenile Detention Center.
BTW, apparently the shooters were members of another gang, Bythe aka Burritos.

As a student at Van Nuys High School, I have to deal with these "lowlife coward cockroach scums" that do not want to better themselves. They think that standing up for their turf at the expense of getting killed is the most important thing in life. The sad part is that the administration at this school is doing nothing about it. There have been several racial fights and fires set in the main building this past month. There are gangbangers roaming the halls every period and not going to class.....And I am suppose to better myself to get out of this "hood" when I cannot learn b/c of the gangbangers and the administration that is so afraid to stop this.....

Well put, they need to get rid of these individuals, that are denying kids like you an education, they are just taking up space, but LAUSD needs them to get their allocated funds for their attendance, at LAUSD it's not about the kids, it's all about the Benjamins..

To the student who attends Van Nuys High School...I feel for you trying to learn in that environment. The only thing I can tell you is tokeep doing the best that you can and get to college and get a degree. The one thing that the Latino culture in general REFUSES to acknowledge is that education is the key to a better life. That is why a MAJORITY of people in prison are basically illiterate. This comes from parents and relatives who tells these people as young children that they do not need an education. Unfortunately they end up finding the support and acceptance that they need in the gangs, who clearly do not have their best interests at heart. For the "mother" featured in this article she is getting exactly what she deserves having an infant out of the house at that hour of the day, what do you think is going to happen?

Representative Trafficant claims Zionists control USA politics, media, and banking. Aside from it being good business sense to exploit third world labor vs. paying the fat salaries of union workers, why degrade America into a banana republic of poverty and violence? Why to prepare us for merger into a "NEW WORLD ORDER". There really are a group of wealthy families that have planned the demise of all western civilization?

Tax Peter to pay for Raul and all his mistresses and children? Keep printing money and fueling inflation. Spend billions on a monster called DHS, but keep the borders wide open.

Because the Teachers hands are tied they can't enforce anything or discipline the students and when they try they are sued and when they call the parents to complain about their child the parents that can speak english don't want to hear it. my friend was a sub teacher but quit and said he would never do it again because the kids are running wild and very few want to learn. and the teachers and administration are helpless to do anything because of all the whiney bleeding hearts and the ACLU etc..

The article conveniently left out what time of the morning this senseless crime occurred. No wonder she doesn't show her face. That baby should have never been out at that time (around 1:00 am) on the street in the 'hood, period. And here she is phoning gang bangers to come over and "visit" at that hour (Eric), rather than calling it a night and going inside the house with her baby!

She has a lot of growing up to do. Hopefully before she gets knocked up again.

I feel for you. I too have to spend a great deal of my work time dealing with gang members. Stay strong and study hard. When you get out of high school and go on to college, you wont have to deal with the cockroaches any more. And if you do see the occcasional gang member at a college, he won't do anything because his homies aren't around to help him. Gang members are such cowards...

She most likely has already replaced that kid with another one, that will be born into the HOOD at any moment, you are the reason your child was killed, what do you expect when you surround yourself with gangbangers, and lowlifes, had that kid lived he would just be another Van Nuys Gang Banger, that I would have to support in prison.

Thanks to all for the nice comments about staying in school. I have had some great teachers the past 3 yrs. I will be going next year to CSUN. I wish to have had the money to go to UCLA. I have the grades GPA 3.9. I know that once I get to CSUN I will never have to deal with these gangbangers again.

I just hope to make it to next year alive. The school is getting worse with fights and threats going on. I would like to transfer to another school thjat is safe, but then I will miss all my friends here that have been with me the past 4 yrs. The administration and deans seem not to worry about all the violence that goes on against the students. The gangs have taken over the school this semester.
The girl in the article is a member of the gangs that control this school.

Dear Marlene,

Here's a little American saying you should take to heart: Lie with dogs, expect fleas. That means if you are in a gang, or hang out with bangers, expect violence and death. It's that simple - put that in your burrito!

So, you're saying that Principal Vanderbok, Jack Molina, and Tom Emery aren't handling the administration of the school? Call downtown and raise hell. You and every student have the right to be safe at school.

When our kid wss 4 months old, we barely went out of the house anyway! And we live in a nice area. What a great idea, hang out, outside on a street in Van Nuys while your infant is in the car????????? Why is the baby not at home where it should be??? If someone wants to see him/her, then come visit. The whole premise of this story shows the bad judgment of the parents. Very sad.
