Why do America's super-rich feel victimized by Obama?

Oct 2, 2012 | Posted by: Mr_Bill | Full story: www.newyorker.com

One night last May, some twenty financiers and politicians met for dinner in the Tuscany private dining room at the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas.

The eight-course meal included blinis with caviar; a fennel, grapefruit, and pomegranate salad; cocoa-encrusted beef tenderloin; and blue-cheese panna cotta. The richest man in the room was Leon Cooperman, a Bronx-born, sixty-nine-year-old billionaire.

Nothing as fancy and ridiculous as Jay Z and Beyonce's $4 million dinner affair for Barack and Michelle. Rare dinosaur ribs was served. It's ok when Democrat politicians do it. It's ok when Democrat donors shill out $37,500 per plate for Barack. It's ok when Democrat politicians cheat on their taxes and don't donate to charities.

fairly even handed article by a very left journal. interesting that al gore and LA mayor were hanging out with the 1%-ers. and no mention of obama with jay-z and over $100k in champagne. though the article does mention that obama got a lot more money from wall street than mccain... . now they know that was a bad investment.

Janna, Paul Ryan's wife, has family with strong Democratic connections, and it largely identifies with the Blue Dog Coalition, a group of Democratic lawmakers known for being fiscally conservative.

Her uncle, David Boren, served as a Democratic governor of Oklahoma and later as a senator from the state. Boren's son, Dan Boren, is a member of House of Representatives and, as a Blue Dog Democrat, has often voted with Republicans.

After college Janna Ryan worked as a legislative aide to then Oklahoma Representative Bill Brewster, who was a co-founder of the Blue Dog Coalition.

WHY ARE YOU PEOPLE VOTING FOR ANOTHER BUSH? Barack is Bush for another 8 years of spending and wars.

Yes, you are right, most BILLIONAIRES are more interested in their tax rates, than in their country.

In the IMMORTAL words on Leona Helmsley:
"We don't pay taxes. Only the little people pay taxes..."
Romney is, yes, with the "WE" in Leona's world.

We don't want to pay any taxes. Taxes should be for the little people. Mitt Romney recognizes this and will not betray his class. He will allow loopholes in the laws to spare us the inconvenience of paying for such frivolous pursuits.

Romney will raise the age of SS eligibility to 80. This will discourage the majority of Americans from ever making claims for such benefits.

We joke at the country-club that most of you will croak before becoming eligible to accept those benefits.

S*cks to be an average and ordinary American.

It's great to be rich!!

Romney and Ryan are men of wealth. They will have our backs!

whine 1. To utter a plaintive, high-pitched, protracted sound, as in pain, fear, supplication, or complaint.
2. To complain or protest in a childish fashion.

O.K. If Dems who vote with Repubs are called "Blue Dogs" what are Repubs who vote with Dems called?

Well, I was surprised to see the Bush Family owns a lot of property (ranch?) in Paraguay, that contains
a huge aquifer and they plan (long range) to sell water to the people. So whether is off shore bank accounts or sending jobs overseas, or living in two countries...The Rich REALLY ARE DIFFERENT...they are nothing like us AT ALL! They have loyalty only to $$$$$$$$

Everybody knows by now Communism doesn't work...Both Russia and China keep making concessions because the system is bad...Even the Puritans coming to America were the first Communists...They tried to share everything...maybe it worked for them because the community was small...I don't know

Do you call Obama a "Commie" because you are an old "Joe McCarthy" fan and think that's the WORST thing you can call him (other than the word you REALLY want to say, but can't)N N N?????

I don't think it JUST about "EXTRA DIGITS..etc"...

I think it's also about who serves in the Military, what education you get, connections with other rich people who give each other boosts based on trust (like jobs, social events, marriages) You know "connections"....You seem to have a very simplistic view as to who is running the world...EXTRA DIGITS is just the beginning.....

I don't know how you jumped to "all poor people are noble" WTF does that mean???

you missed the point. your post whined that the rich are different. my point is they are people with money. people are good and bad whether rich or poor. you are buying the obama and democrat mantra that rich=bad and greedy. look how many billions bill gates is contributing to causes of poor and wretched all over the world. you imply that poor are good, rich are bad....

they figure the country is going to collapse and the rich know oil is running out, so you see a lot of them buying up property in South America that has its own water supply. They figure they stripped the wealth out of the U.S. for the one percent, they see the U.S. is about to collapse, so they have a big, huge ranch to go and live on with their billions they got in government contracts on the various deals they made with the wars, with prescription drugs, with their Homeland Security businesses. They took all the money and ran. That's why the Bush family has the huge ranch with its own water supply. This is how the end of oil looks. One percent survive. he who has the most billions survives the end of the age of oil.
