We have world-class stupid politicians destroying our city.
To Lease out the parking structures for 50 years and they take that long lump sum payment and use it simply to pay payroll and other payoffs for one year leaves the question.
What do you intend to do to pay people in the next 49 years?
Any business selling off its money raising activities assets is on a collision course to shut down and bankruptcy.
And for the moral issue we taxpayers paid taxes and bonds to build these parking structures but the politicians think they can sell them and use the money to further their corrupt actions.
Selling these structures is a guarantee of bankruptcy and the destruction of Los Angeles as a city.

This year they will lease out the parking structures and then from now on everyone who uses them will have to pay more to park in structures that were already built and paid for with their tax money.
This is just another back door tax

"City Administrative Officer Miguel Santana and Chief Legislative Analyst Gerry Miller urged the council to create a request for proposals that will maximize competition among the 13 operators expected to submit bid."
You can bet your asss that the winning bids will be submitted by operators who are connected and/or make big "campaign contributions" (read: bribes).

Exactly, just like the DWP rate hike. WAKE UP

These incompetents are pawning off the Citys prime assets just to delay bankruptcy for one more year.
Does anyone think these boobs can possibly get anything right? Much less put together a multi-million dollar lease of one of our prize assets for 50 years?

LA has a garage sale.
Los Angeles great garage sale.
Next will be an even bigger rummage sale!
Help Help Help..........
WE must save all the union jobs at all costs. Lets just sell off the peoples property and pocket the money for the unions.
Its bad enough that you now have to pay an arm and a leg at the parking meters in Los Angeles. Wait until the new owners raise the parking garage fees.
I feel sorry for the small businesses. I will go out of my way to do any business outside of LA. If I have to shop, eat, park, it will not be in this city.

Might be better to sell some assets for nickels on the dollar, rather than wait for bankruptcy and selling them for pennies on the dollar.

You can bet your asss that the winning bids will be submitted by operators who are connected and/or make big "campaign contributions" (read: bribes).their friends in wall street have been waiting to steal the tax paid assets of L.A.that make money for the city, next well be the break up and fire sale of DWP to Finnish the job, tonys friends need to cash out and kill this city.if you don't let a Mexican run L.A.(its our town now) then we will just run the place into the ground before tony leaves so the next mayor will be screwed.the council and mayor know the party's over and their on the next bus out of town,so trash whats left and steal the rest...lol

How would you like it if the Spring Street Gang of 15 sold or leased your house? Or your car?
Well, this is about the same thing. These properties belong to the people. The legal citizens of our city. The Gang of 15 is leasing YOUR PROPERTY without your permission.
Anyone else see this as completely wrong?

What a smart move by the politicians. They know that everyone will be leaving LA and only B Ners will be left. No one will have money or cars to park in garages. They could become low cost housing

So laying off 1000 City employees would be a problem because? SEIU seems to think that it owns City Hall, starting with the Mayor. And now they refuse to contribute toward their medical benefits. Lay them off, put em on additional furloughs, let em strike if they are not willing to contribute to their med benefits.
My understanding EAA Mou 21 is the only group of City employees that see to get it, so far. Time to start thinning the herd. Way too many fat cows collecting fat paychecks while doing NOTHING.
