I am proud and glad these positive gun organizations promote and educate the public on open carry laws in California. We honest americans in Ca. should have the right to carry openly, even concealed would be better as they do in many states. Education is the key. For now the criminals are the ones with stolen and illegal weapons and they carry it illegaly. Citiizens need to protect themselves just about anywhere the law allows. The police can't be everywhere and should not be the only ones who carry weapons. Right now it is the criminals and the poilce who carry guns. The ones in the middle are the upstanding good citizens, just trying to follow the law and protect themselves as well as loved ones. This bill against Ca. citizens not to carry openly is wrong. No one but the criminals will benefit there. Law enforcement can't be there to protect you always, that's a fact and the real world. If the criminals knew that people/citizens were packing legal fireamars openly or concealed, most criminals would fear attacking most people. Of course there is always those hard headed ones that would try regardless and get shot. Criminals actions have consequences. There fault, there problem. Otherwise it is just another poor citizen who was attacked and died, once again.. This would change the equation to help out all who are good and follow the laws.

Yes, we need to protect all our rights. Since I believe so much in freedom of speech I resolve to swear whenever I'm in public. If we don't it will soon be only the criminals who will be able to swear. I will not let this happen.#$%*&%@&^%$#@^ &*

Come to AZ, it's not a nanny state like Kalifornya. It's legal to carry open or concealed and with whatever firearm you choose. Crime is also not nearly as big a problem either.

As a long time gun owner and an active hunter and shooter, I think this is absolutely stupid to do. This isn't going to paint gun owners with any kind of a good image. People who are not educated about guns do not want to take their families to the beach to see a bunch of yahoos carrying guns loaded or unloaded. I personally think this is setting back your agenda instead of moving it forward. Just a terribly dumb idea, there are better ways to educate the public.
I also think this places law enforcement in a bad situation. How long do you expect an officer to wait when he sees a firearm, before reacting? The officer will have NO idea the firearm isn't loaded and it is going to end up getting someone killed. Again, just stupid.

Hmmm...

The only shooting I can recoleckt at the Pier was done by COPS.

You know, the unionized "protect and serve" guys.. Some LAPD guys who like to get lickered up and show what they have that others don't. And isn't there an old HBPD tradition of shooting off the pier?

To be serious, in the states that have gun laws which get somewhere close to the U.S. Constitution, the crime rate for CCW holders is .06% of that of police. So take that old "OK Coral" canard and use it to light your crack pipe.

Open Carry is cool in America where people carry loaded guns. It's dumb in California where all you are is an invitation to a crime.

It is unfortunate that the California Chief's Association has failed to serve the citizens by issuing CCW's. But such seems to always be the case with decadent bureaucracies and their members.

They can try to educate me by carrying weapons all day and I'll never see their point.

I honestly don't think they have a point, they just love the power their weapons represent. Pathetic.

The 2nd amendment should be treated with the same reverence as the 1st amendment. These fringe groups do not do anything to help the cause.

They only look like angry little men, apparently they found one of their own in HBs troll of a police chief.

Hey, hey. Remember, an armed society is a polite society. Which is why the post-Civil War frontier days is referred to as the Polite West.

I am not crazy about this idea. Before anyone "boo's" at me, I do strongly value the Second Amendment, and the right to own firearms. However, firearms are meant for one thing only, and that is to kill. How is the average citizen to know it is not loaded? What happens if someone panics and causes some type of disastrous mishap? How do we tell who is carrying the loaded weapon or the unloaded weapon? Sure, the bearer of the arm may know his weapon is not loaded, but how does John Q. Public know that this is a demonstration that firearms can be carried openly and safely and not some people forming a vigilante? Just as I normally have razor sharp knives in my kitchen with no concerns of what my neighbors would think, I daresay their opinions may change if I strapped the same knife to my belt and walked about in public areas. As the First Amendment would advise us, there are appropriate time, place and manner restrictions in all forms of free speech.

I really feel sorry for you people. There might come a time in your life when you should have listened and there will nothing you can do about it when all your rights are taken from you.

There are plenty of guns that fire chambered rounds without a magazine. These guys are dangerous. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy guns, but again, these guys are just nuts. They don't care about promoting opencarry. They care about padding their pockets with frivolous law suits against Police Departments. When granny blue-hair sees a guy walking down the street with a gun, she will call 911 screaming about a man with a gun. Cops will get there with guns drawn, proning the guy out.
The guy will be let go because it is legal to opencarry an unloaded gun....but then he will quickly turn around and sue for civil right's violations.

Im a federal law enforcement officer, and I SUPPORT OPEN CARRY, I SUPPORT CONCEALED CARRY.

Its time for Kalif to join the rest of the nation and allow legal concealed carry. Lets watch the crime rates in kali go down.

I might have to join up with the open carry guys and pick up some trash, while strapping my un-loaded weapon. Even though i have sworn an oath and have a legal right to carry loaded and concealed.

As a local LEO here, there is no way, not a chance you are a "Federal Law Enforcement officer." Not a chance. The tone and content of your post tells volumes about who you are and your character and you are nothing close to a Fed. Terrific thing they can track those IPs!

Oh Chuck, just sit there in the corner of your dark house holding that pistol, waiting for the sky to fall. A great many of us are pro 2nd Amendment and I would never sit by and allow that right to be taken from me. But events like this one are irresponsible, will push more people away from the issue than pull them into it, and will not accomplish the so-called goals of this group. Even whackos get some free run in California! You should be more concerned about events like this causing people to turn against gun owners than anything else. But still, keep huddled up and identify that sound before you shoot at it!! What a dolt.
