Not cool to have a religious festival sponsored by a councilman's office. Not cool at all. Mr. Andrews need sto be reminded of the separation of church and state. Hopefully no city funds were spent on the event.

This is great. Best way to proclaim Christ as the center of our lives to all people. Strongly hope that it reached many people with this powerful message. Truth, Hope and Life abundant can only be found in God and the ultimate example to follow: Jesus Christ, the one and only.

Extremely cool for an elected politician to be willing to sponsor an event. I am excited the power of our Lord works in a single heart at a time. God allows man to be involved to complete His saving work, and seeds were planted and watered in hearts of those who were in the neighborhood Sunday. Remember that Elijah lamented there were none that followed God, and he was told that there were still 7000 who had not followed Baal in his day. Those of you who believe recall that OT passage.

For those concerned over the fictitious statement about separation used in today’s politically correct language; they forget "In God we trust" and over 90% of founding fathers have recorded "prayers" in the Continental Congress and other documents. A member of the council can sponsor an event because they are human beings. Similar to our corp board meetings, we need a "second" on a motion to follow a plan and Councilmember Dee's involvement may have been only to line of the pile of forms that need to be completed as required by all municipalities to have a public gathering, etc.

There are some who may be upset and/or furious that a "religious festival" happened in Long Beach. Hallelujah. The Holy Spirit will prod their minds and conscience = the steps are put in place for another individual to have been exposed to the spirit and a seed planted, or this is their second exposure and it is watered, or soon to be their decision to follow the Creator also. Thank you Dee and others involved.

This hardly seems like Congress passing a law to establish a state religion - which is the Constitutional basis of "separation of church and state." I think it is good that the city sponsored an event that was uplifting, inspiring and cultural.

Unless, of course, for instance, it's a Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu, or Ghost Dancing festival. Then it would meet the self-loathing test requirements that qualify it for the Tolerance clause. The dominant cultural mores must be overthrown to please 'progressive' sentiment.

Racist idiocy seems to be on the rise again. I think it's connected with the general dumbing down of the population. If you think the people in the pictures are likely looters I have to wonder about your sanity--certainly about your intelligence.

Republicans praise and Democrats curse these people! The Democrats do anything against praise and are held accountable for it? I hope Michael Steele's message of humble modesty with peace and justice, in his candidate selections, sets a example of self-respect, excepted by the the body politic!

You sound foolish to announce how the fest. may bother some, see that is what ruin's the name of the churches, you should have just shut your mouth and talked about the fest. ONLY. So now you are condemed to your evil ways. You should repent and apologize for your last comments.
Futher more, I Am of Pagan, Jesus loved and beleved in the Pagan ways, you should study more instead of playing follow the leader, you know of what nothing is.

Yeah right, I Am of Pagan, same as Jesus believed and loved the Pagan ways, study and find out, so you can actually walk and talk in your own identity and truth instaed of playing follow the leader.

"DOMINANT"..you say?? Christianity isn't a "culture"..it's a religion..actually MANY religions..some of which bear no resemblance whatsoever to others..nor does Christianity represent one set of mores, either religious or cultural! Apparently, though inaccurately, you nevertheless believe that if it's a large enough number of practitioners, it justifies strongarming those of another (or no) faith into "sponsoring" such events by proxy?? There's a place and time for such things and it's not in the commonly shared public venue! What a snotty remark you've made here..better go back to your Sunday school class and bone up on what you're supposed to be learning there!

To all you so called intelligent atheist's,agnostic, liberal, soc ialist,(miserable people in general) out there! Shut up! Imagine what this country would be like if it's founders had been muslim, hindu, buddist etc..Go learn how 'seperation of church and state' even came in to discussion to begin within our gov't? You might be surprised? REALLY?!!...And we wonder why our country is slowly crumpling away? Could it be we have left GOD out of the equation for too long now.We want GOD out of our schools, his name off our money, his commandments out of our courts.WAKE UP AMERICA is suffocating! spiritually!
