How in the hell would you know what is legitimate? You are operating just like the doctors who give out these prescriptions! It the patient says it, it must be true. Come on. How can you ever say that when you have no idea.
The fact is there are a small number of doctors in the area who are very sympathetic to this movement and you see their names over and over again on all of these marijuana cards. If it's a legitimate thing, ofcourse, give it to the patient. But to sit back and say that this system is not being taken advantage of is wrong, it is.
And for all you potheads, keep smoking, you're keeping all the good paying jobs open for the non-slackers! Clowns.
Give me a break. They give out Vicodin like the stuff is candy. That system is being taken advantage of, too, but you don't see people demanding that perscription painkillers be taken off the market and raided by the Feds.

Exactly. It's ok to hand out opiates to junkies that feign injuries or ailments and are rec'ing state aid in some form or fashion...but not ok to smoke a joint?

DEA mid-level management fears cutbacks, so they are desperately trying to demonstrate some kind of "value" they offer society. Fortunately, economics will also bring the layoffs to them, also! What a useless agency.

Doctors don't have a test for pain and they usually overperscribe so you don't have to come back. I hurt my foot pretty badly a while back- fortuately it wasn't broken but it was too swollen and painful to wear a shoe. The doctor asked me if I had slept the night before and if I wanted any pain medication. I said "That would be nice- but I should only need enough for a day or two." The guy gave me a 30 day scrip. They all do that. No one says they are too lax with perscriptions. God forbid, though, you should be getting chemo and smoke a joint for nausea and to give you an appetite. That's just a danger to society.

Why have the DEA and ATF not been merged into one group. Less overhead.

Union mentality, that's why. Create as many "no show", "do nothing" jobs as possible.

Oh yes, the DEA does show up, but they target non violent pot smokers = they do nothing!!!! It's easier than frying a hamburger at McDonalds!!!!(Oh Sheeet!!! I might have stumbled onto a correalation here....)

Put them to work tracking down dealers of drugs that KILL people. Then they will be doing SOMETHING.

When was the last time you heard about someone who smoked pot going on a homocidal rampage? A dorito rampage, sure, but that's about the extent of it. Pot is no worse than alcohol in termes of the level of impairment- you shouldn't drive on either one- but it's not like heroin or meth. There's no reason that these drugs shouldn't be classed as controlled substances and treated like any other drugs we have. Get a perscription and take it under medical supervision. Morphine is highly addictive and extremely dangerous but we do allow doctors to use it when medically appropriate and under the right conditions.

I will tell you how I know what ailments are legitimate. By the fact that there are people out there claiming to suffer and that doctors (those people with medical training) are listening. Moreover there are prescription medications to help alleviate these symptoms. Medical Marijuana isn't making up brand new symptoms to treat. It's simply another option to treat well documented symptoms.

I also never said that the system was perfect or abuse free because it is neither. However it's a step in the right direction.

I just got a great idea. I am going to get a job as a clerk at a 7-11 or a beer distributor. Then when people ask me what I do for a living, I will tell them I am a drug dealer. When I apply for other jobs, I will list as past occupations: DRUG DEALER. I wonder if I would get hired............

This is why every business owner should get a gun--- when the most dangerous of thugs show up, the US Government, when you are not doing anything wrong but providing drugs to people who WANT to do this to their body, they should get out the gun and shoot as many of these vicious thugs as possible. How dare they come in and destroy someones business all in the name of greed and getting their organization richer, these maniacs are worse than armed robbers. Get a gun, and when these animals with no concience (how could any of these individuals look at themselves in the mirror?) come in to destoy them, shoot to kill.
Pointing a gun at heavily armed and armored gestapo will only get you killed. The best course of action would be bushwhacking them one by one. They can be taken out if you surprise them. Pot good for what ails you especially if you need an attitude adjustment.

And those perscription medications also have side effects.

Did you know you used to be able to buy cocaine over the counter? Amazingly, American society did not crumble. The current drug laws have little to do with medical efficacy or crime and much more to do with politics and money.

Yeah, just like those weak people who use oxytocin and vicodin. Can't they just man up and take the pain? Hey, antibiotics are for the weak, too. If your body can't handle infection you probably deserve to die, right sunshine?

why not add booze to the list. only the weak would drink themselves into a stupor. I never really understood why there is so much hatred.
