I noted in the article about Randy that he was released on $200,000 bail which of course was posted by the Diocese of San Jose.$200,000 could feed an entire city in India or contribute significantly toward AIDS research. It makes me physically ill to think of all the monies I have placed in the collection basket over the years to find that this type of expenditure is possible without authorization from the congregation. Unfortuntetly, rather than improving schools or feeding the poor, it appears that our donations have been saved in the Catholic "baild and/or hush money" account. I suggest we let him sit in jail until his trial to ponder his actions. As a so-called "man of the cloth" you would think that he would embrace the opportunity to minister to prisoners from within. The New Testament points out that St. Paul certrainly made an impact from prison. Whether or not he is found guilty, perhaps the looming point of discussion is that "ministering" to vulnerable/wayward women in their hotel room isn't appropriate behavior for a Catholic Priest....Period. I suspect that the rectory has plenty of room for conversation - and we, the congregation, already pay the bills there. I feel like taking money out of the basket next Sunday and every Sunday thereafter until church leaders can prove that they can be trusted with the donations of the congregation.

JUST FOR THE RECORD: IN FAIRNESS TO THE DIOCESE OF SAN JOSE, THE BAIL FOR FR. RANDY CAME FROM HIS FAMILY NOT FROM THE DIOCESE. AND FYI: YOU DONATED MONEY FOR THE CHURCH OUT OF YOUR GOOD INTENTION NOT TO BRAG ABOUT IT... I HOPE...

To who you are:
Great that you acknowledge the presence of a higher power than any of us. not even a priest. but to say to call you a real and true father contradicts to what you believe... I dunno the whole story but look it up this way, priests are there to guide us not to tell us what to do. we are given by the FATHER will and freedom. whatever happned in your family is not wihtin the control of a priest.
Be a good father then to your children and show them the real meaning of LOVE.
You know Who I AM wrote:
Randy: You know who I am. I refuse to utilize the title Father before your name because quite frankly, you haven't earned it. You have no earthly idea what it takes to be a father. You've never experienced the pressures of financially supporting a family, you have never been forced to negotiate a relationship with a woman, and you have never been tasked with so much as staying awake a single night with a sick child let alone imparting the survival skills on a child necessary to negotiate life. For five years I have watched my children suffer from the aftermath of your "Devine Advice." As a devoted father, I have been tasked with cleaning up your mess. Suffice it to say that I am pleased to see that a young lady has been brave and strong enough to bring attention to your unnatural preoccupation with lost and vulnerable women. Your tendency to show up in the knick of time to "save" these women has been revealed as nothing more than a clever cover for your inability to control your human desires. In the interim, God has seen fit to return my children to me. In "JOB-like fashion," (see Old Testament - Book of Job,) God has seen fit to grant me my children, the company of a beautiful new partner and two wonderful additional children. If you doubt the devine nature of this reality, ask yourself this question...how many single fathers do you know with primary custody of ALL of their teenage daughters? No doubt somebody higher than you is overseeing my family and I must be doing something right. In the interim, my ex-wife is still suffering from the same selfish preoccupation and financial indiscretion that ultimately lead to the demise of our marriage. She is still unable to live within her means and her relationship management issues seem to have silled over into her relationship(s) with her children as well. Nonetheless, I'm sure she's missed having coffee with you while you were away. As a former devout Catholic who has had audience with our Late Holy Father Pope John Paul II, let me offer YOU some "FATHERLY" advise. I stress the word "Father" as I'm quite certain I've earned the title. Renounce your ordination and exit the church with whatever dignity you have remaining before you impose any more damage on unsuspecting individuals and/or families.

This type of comment seems completely typical of an uneducated, unintelligent, ignorant, fear-based and dare I say, human being? Read a book, educate yourself and become a responsible person before another "just plain stupid" remark comes out of your mouth again. God help people such as you. A pedophile for instance is a predator, male or female, who finds sexual stimulation/gratification from exploiting and sexually abusing children...being sexually attracted primarily or exclusively to pre-pubescent children. Persons with this attraction are called pedophiles. A twenty-nine year old woman is therefore, not a child and this was an "alleged" meaning supposed allegation. Now I suggest you look up what the word
"Gay" means all on your own.

Completely Straight non-Catholic in California...Oh, and educated.

Alleged

Keyword. However, Quote:[raping a 29-year-old Oregon woman in a Sunnyvale motel]

Well, then there is a lot of information left out.
One can only surmise what REALLY happened, and since the full investigation summary and collected evidence has not been made available to us laymen, then you are left to think what you will.

Until all is brought out in a court of law, then you don't know. It will be decided by a group of his peers of the guilt or innocence then by god when the time comes.
You that bring "god into this, judgment, and the cast the first stone," etc. are just spewing. Just because you are of the same or like faith as the PRIEST, you say "could never" BULL!!
History has proven you wrong.

Where in the world would we be if we didn't have the "Law-of-the-Land" with trials and punishment which come directly from JUDGEMENT?

Hope for these peoples sake, nothing criminal ever happens to them, as I'm sure they wouldn't want to "pass judgment" on that person, and would want no one to see them as "victims" of a crime...hummmmm

If he did, he should burn for it. If not hopefully he emerges unscathed. I am not one to judge others, they do that for themselves.

In the beginning of this forum I read comments such as "I am shocked" and "He is a well respected priest." The support for him was overwhelming. The point I would like to make is people need to stop being so gullible about the Catholic Church. I myself was a victim of abuse by a Catholic Nun. She also was a well respected person. This 29-yr-old-woman sounded like she was vulnerable. She put her trust in Fr. Benas and he took advantage of her trust. Priest and Nuns take a vow of celibacy, but are we not sexual human beings? So the question is do these trusted people have to hide their sexuality by taking advantage of innocent victims? I think so but will NOT allow it to occur any further. I have stopped going to church after my 10-yr-old daughter told me the nun stopped her after communion and searched her sweater to make sure she took it. This nun is also well respected. Please think twice before putting your trust in members of the clergy.

Why do you even go to that church any more? Do myou think God is in that church only. I dont think so. There are other churches with much more integrety than the catholic church where the sperit can be felt with more intensity than you have ever felt before. So why even talk about a church thet boasts the devels #'s upside down on the popes head dress.....
